police shoot a person on the west side of town near 10th and federal. this is just as it happened about 4:30 this afternoon. >> we are their life right now. they found out the suspect shot was not the only person involved. >> reporter: three people we are told are in custody. the newest information -- a yellow tape telling people around trying to get back att the neighborhood that they cannot get back in beca that they are looking for because they are unclear if they have everybody that was needed toobe found. i overheard a conversation that they were not sure if they were looking for a suspect or witness at this time. at the end we had three people in custody. there's an officer involved shooting confirmed in that alley near the corner of 10th and federal. adam stevens just came back from the alley across the way and captured this image down the alley where police are

i clarified with the police that it does not necessarily mean the worst it just means that is the direct area they want to investigate. the yellow tape is the outside perimeter. this neighborhood is between 10th and 12th and between federal and i will say about hazel remains kind of limited for people to get back in through the neighborhood. >> thank you marshall. do you know this man? several elementary kids in englewood say he tried to get them into this happened near baker park. we just spoke exclusively with one of the kids who came face- to-face with a guy. >> reporter: the child tells me he was not really scared, just taken aback by what this man was telling him and his friinds. the boy who was in third grade tells me this man approached him right at the intersection. he approached him and his three other friends after they were dropped off other school bus.

take down a heroin ring and they found 6 pounds hidden in car tires. heroine is a huge problem in our state. overdoses are up 350% in five years. a third of the patients going into rehab are under the age of 24. all in all more than 7 pounds of heroin were rounded up. the feds have agreed to look up into police practices. the department of justice will make the announcement tomorrow. the city requested the investigation because of a series of cases involving its officers including two high- profile cases the -- one involving officer kevin moran who is accused of faking his own shooting. another is accused of inappropriately touching three women who he pulled over. state lawmakers are looking at the ceo rape case that is

inmates with indeterminate sentences were released last year. the number of treatment providers was down. for many inmates that means a life sentence. judges have no control which is why they may choose probation insteaddof prison. >> reporter: do you think that indeterminate sentencing is keeping rapists out of prison? >> i hope nott >> reporter: representative mike foote said the legislature was in critics after putting more money into treatment programs. there were also individualize the process. >> when we hear criticisms of indeterminate sentencing i think it's not exactly correct. it's the longest -- wrong solution to get rid of indeterminate sentencing, the right solution is to increase treatment. >> reporter: representative for it says it's possible it will come up at the next session but he says the wait list for treatment has decreased and he hopes judges see that determinate sentencing does not mean a life sentence.
