breaking news. rose medical center is on lockdown after a short -- reports of shots fired. it was a huge pollce presence at the complex. you can see armed officers on the roof at the medical center. now important to note denner police says there are no reports of any injuries, no reports of any suspects at this timeebut they are there out in an abundance of caution. a person of interest. they tell us they are looking for a white male in his 30s 130 pounds wearing a flannel shirt and a hat. denver7 has four reporters on scene right now. let's start with moe hendrickson -- molly hendrickson. >> reporter: this is a very active in fluid situation. basically this area has been

is on lockdown nobody in/nobody out. we want to let everybody know that patients and staff are safe. denver police would not confirm what building they are looking in or what shots were fired. the text says loved ones heard shots fired from the first or second floor from the founders building. we just got off the phone with a man who is barricaded inside newborn baby. and alarm went off and a nurse came into the room and told them to put everything against the door . they just received an announcement that they are still on lockdown under a code silver. dpd is looking for a person of interest. white man 30s hundred 30 pounds flannel shirt and a hat. they are asking people not to come down here. a very fluid situation. avoid this area. we will continue to follow this and bring you updates.>> we

in a few minutes. it is highly unusual to have that many police officers out there. we still have no confirmation about what is or is not going on. with that said lance fernandez is live the near the va center south and west of the area.>> reporter: actually it is just north. i am located just north of rose medical center. this is one of the roadblocks. they are not letting anybody go south or east from here. few minutes we have seen that fire truck arrived. we just saw a number of heavily armed swat team members walked down the street near the rose center. a number of people have been keeping watch out here all evening long. a few minutes ago we spoke with people coming out of the nearby va center. they told me it was placed on

for about 45 minutes but they were not told why. eventually they were told they could leave but they had to leap from the west side of the building so they walked around the west towards colorado boulevard and this way to get home. a number of people trying to get home this way not being allowed to. we talked with one individual who had an appointment rectally north of rose . he was not allowed in. he said he will just come back tomorrow and if you minutes ago we were speaking with a gentleman in the blue shirt over there standing in the he told me his wife stop the net rose medical center on the way home from work. he spoke with her on the phone and she told him the hospital had been placed on lockdown and she was not allowed to leave. she also said she heard that there may be six or seven victims coming in. that again was second or third hand information. that has not been confirmed that police are the hospital at all but again this is a fluid situation and the police still keeping everybody out of this area. we are reporting live at piermont inhale pkwy., lance

>> thank you very much. >> we had this story covered this afternoon for you again shots fired but that is unconfirmed. please are investigating the hospital is on lockdown right now because they just want to know what is going on. there is no business going on inside rose medical center but police are investigating. let's get to marc stewart who is there trying to get information. >> reporter: into center of dahlia inhale just to the north and east of the hospital. this is a massive complex. take a look down dahlia. there is a denver police suv. for a while there has been an officer who has been armed but she just walked away for a few moments but she has requested that we stay back a good distance from her car. again out of safety concerns.

is safe. we are certainly honoring that request. dislocation here it shows you just how massive of a complex this is. it extends all the way from dahlia towards colorado towards that trader joe if you use that as a landmark. this is a very busy time for the hospital. a lot of shifts are changing and a lot of people are trying to go home. we have seen employees lined up here trying to get home because their cars are stuck in the garage which has been a big focus of this investigation. here coming by and you can see she has -- i believe it -- i can't see too well -- and looks like a shotgun attached to her said. we are being told out of an abundance of caution. we are also hearing from people in this neighborhood because there are apartment buildings, homes, surrounding the entire complex . you can see there is

and a lot of people are trying to get back home. like us they are asking many of the same questions but the bottom line at the moment is if you are heading towards this part of town, towards colorado eighth or ninth -- basically stay awa you cannot get in and people who are there are being told to stay inside so please give the all clear. marc stewart 37 -- denver7 they are justttrying to be cautious out there nd make sure there is nothing that this point. >> regardless of one's up -- what ends up happening there will be so many people who are scared to death today. they went there for medical care or visit someone in the hospital and being told to shelter in place that have to be terrifying. molly hendrickson spoke to police it has been information. >> reporter: right now as you mentioned a very active situation. a lot of people gathering here on the corner just waiting and

loved ones as you mention inside. we just spoke to a man over the phone who is barricaded inside his room with his wife and newborn baby. they had their baby eight hours ago and this just is not something you would expect in such a time of celebration. right now denver police have been pretty tightlipped about what is going on. they are not confirming that any shots were inside these buildings . they are not telling us which building. a little earlier they were going to the parking garages to car seemingly looking for somebody. we know they are looking for a person of interest but again they are just encouraging people to avoid this area. there is a lot of roads closed, people are having a hard time navigating so stay away from the area and follow us online and television. >> very important to emphasize

there were shots fired but ere have been so many reports. it has been a very muddled afternoon. >> more importantly no victim and no suspect that that time. that is something you can take comfort in right now. this has been going on since 4 pm this afternoon against no bit them so no uspects but they haven't released a suspect description. again we have several crews out there covering this from many angles. jacqueline allen is near a park. jaclyn you talked to some people that were inside the hospital >> reporter: right. there have been a steady stream of people who have beenncoming out of this parking garage here. we saw one car after the next and the police officer told us to not get in the way. but one woman who was inside the building did ell us that she was in there when this all happen and she heard from someone else that there may have been shots fired. we have not been able to get that confirmed. at one point they were all huddled in a room and the police drew guns on them. obviously this is a very tense

please have blocked off this area. we know they also searched this part where we are standing. now we are still trying to get information. this was initially called out as an active shooter. i did hear from unconfirmed information. a source tells me that possibly a security guard called them with a report of what looked to be a man with a long gun possibly a rifle with a scope and he called into police as a possible active shooter. that is when police came in but possibly no shots were evee fired and we are trying to get that confirmed right now but you can see the police are taking this very seriously as people are starting to leave the building and leave the parking garage. jacqueline allen denver7 thank you for that jaclyn. at this hour right now denver
