meant to denver7 how does this happen? many are asking this after five inmates oversed on suspected crack cocaine at the denver jail. molly hendrickson is live. how did these guys even get the drugs in the first place? >> that is what investigators are trying to figure out. typically when inmates are brought here to the jail they are need to go through a metal detector. they are then given a shower they are put in a pod. we know they are not strip- searched. these five inmates were all in pod for which houses longer term inmates. we all were taken to the hospital and survived. a 2015 review shows excessive amounts of contraband in the two jails. consultants made several recommendations including searching staff and regular documented cell searches.
