and a good monday morning. happy halloween to you all. we begin with the fbi obtaining a search warrant to move forward with the newly reopened investigation of hillary clinton's e-mails. >> fbi director james comey is coming under fire. for alerting congress about the new e-mails that are linked to one of hillary clinton's most trusted advisers. senate minority leader harry reid wrote a scathing letter to james comey. accusing him of breaking the law by announcing the review so close to the electn. >> the investigation is giving donald trump new ammunition as hill dwindling lead in the polls. stephanie ramos has the latest. stephanie, good morning. >> reporter: diane and kendis, good morning. there are eight days until election day. here's proof that the race is not slowing down. the fbi has now obtained a warrant to review those newly found e-mails. after the fbi dropped that e-mail inquiry bombshell. hillary clinton was on the campaign trail, trying to shake it off. >> there's a lot of noise and distraction. but it really comes down to what

clinton taking on her opponent, donald trump. >> it's always donald trump first and everyone else last. >> reporter: and fbi director james comey. >> some of you may have heard about a letter that the fbi director sent out yesterday. [ crowd booing ] >> reporter: that letter sent to lawmakers friday, where comey says newly flagged e-mails were discovered on the laptop of disgraced former congressman anthony weern, the husband of clinton's top aide, huma abedin. he's under investigation for allegedly sexting a teen. comey says the e-mails should be looked at to determine if they contain any classified information. comey making the review public, even though there is no evidence of wrongdoing by clinton. >> it's pretty strange to put something like that out with such little information right before an election. >> reporter: this morning, abc news has obtained a letter by

former prosecutors and high-ranking officials, including republicans and democrats, criticizing fbi director james comey, saying many of us have worked with director comey. all of us respect him. but his unprecedented decision to publicly comment on evidence in what may be an ongoing inquiry 11 days before a presidential election leaves us astonished and perplexed. the fbi director this weekend began brief were demanding new details about the new batch of e-mails. justice department officials advised against alerting congress. citing tradition of not talking about ongoing investigations. and not doing anything that would be seen as influencing an election in its final days. >> we never thought we were going to say thank you to anthony weiner. >> reporter: as for president obama's response, white house deputy press secretary eric schultz says nothing has surfaced to change the president's views and opinions of secretary clinton.

the news in his campaign speech for clinton on friday night. kendis, diane? >> all right. stephanie ramos. many questions, the questions, democrats hope, are answered quickly. stephanie, thanks. >> some hoping for today. stephanie mentioned the letter. the former attorney general went farther than that. >> eric holder posted an op ed in "the washington post." in it he calls james comey a good man of integrity and honor but says, good men make mistakes. he said comey violated long-standing justice department policies and tradition. on the proper way to conduct investigations in an election season. and on the campaign trail today, hillary clinton is attending two early voting events in the key battleground state of ohio. while tim kaine heads to north carolina. donald trump is holding back-to-back rallies in michigan while mike pence campaigns in florida. let's move on now to the breaking news from overnight from oklahoma. a week-long manhunt for an armed and dangerous fugitive is over. michael vance was killed in a

spotted in western oklahoma earlier on sunday. he was suspected of killing his aunt and uncle and shooting at four people, including four police officers. he seemed to relish in the notoriety as a fugitive by streaming on facebook live before being killed in the overnight shootout. vance shot at a sheriff's deputy. that deputy is expected to survive. and breaking overnight, a bomb scare forced the evacuation of a flight in ft. lauderdale. the spirit airlines flight to dallas was just about to take off last night came in. one passenger posted several videos to facebook describing the experience. she said a man sitting behind her starting screaming for a flight attendant saying he saw the passenger sitting next to him texting about a bomb being on a plane. she said police officers grabbed the man from his seat and quote dragged him off the plane. no word if anyone was arrested. the plane did eventually take off after it was checked and cleared. thousands of people in italy in the quake zone are spending the night in hotels and shelters. after a powerful earthquake this

the drone video taken by fire crews shows the destruction in the town of pescara del tronto. sunday's 6.6 quake was the third powerful quake in just the past two months. the italian prime minister says the nation's soul is disturbed by the series of quakes, he's now vowing to rebuild. and in iraq, a special forces commander says his troops are aiming to enter the outskirts of the city of mosul today. also, thousands of new fighters they have all reinforced shiite militias heading to the city. a wave of bombings in shiite areas yesterday was seen as retaliation by isis. those blasts killed at least 17 people. back here in the u.s. on october 31st, it appears the weather is playing trick-or-treat this halloween. two storms are moving onto the west coast, putting a damper on tonight's trick-or-treating, especially in the northwest. and now, your halloween forecast. nothing too spooky here. nothing to be all "thriller"-like about. the west coast will be the trouble spot for

there are certain perks to returning from space. to a parachute landing in kazakhstan. the three crew members from the international space station were greeted with the traditional welcome ceremony there. receiving capes, hats, and russian dolls. crowd sourcing is allowing protesters in north dakota to keep fighting the construction of a pipeline there.

it brought in more than $1 million, boosted after several arrests this week. however, the activists are not sure how much longer they'll have the money to continue the fight. they're protesting the construction of a pipeline that would move oil from north dakota to illinois. some surveillance video to show you from a walmart south of washington. it appears to show two men stuffing a third person into the trunk of a car in an apparent abduction. witnesses say the three appeared to be play-fighting earlier in the day. now, police are trying to figure out if a crime was committed or the three were just goofing around. no one has been reported missing. high-tech entrepreneur elon musk wants to change the way roof top solar generating looks by replacing clunky soler panels with roofing tiles. he showed off the new line of shingles. they're of a variety of styles.
