six people died including the driver of the school bus which crashed and caused the accident. abc's mary bruce is at the scene. >> reporter: both busses violently ripped apart. the gnarly wreckage unrecognizable other than a steering wheel. police say the school bus careened down the street like a pinball. >> looks like a bomb went through the bus. >> reporter: roughly 6:30 a.m. when the school bus plows into a back of a mustang and crashes into a cement pillar before colliding at a high speed with into the driver's side. six people killed including the driver of the school bus. firefighters cutting through the school bus in search of students. thankfully, none are on board. >> you can still see debris strewn across the street here, and look what's left the mustang car. the back of it completely ripped apart, and the car shredded. the driver of the car overcome with emotion.

who lost loved ones. >> reporter: the ntsb is on the scene investigating the cause. missing from the scene? skid marks. the police say the bus may not have braked. abc news, baltimore. a spinal cord illness in the pacific northwest, the condition may be to blame for the death of a 6-year-old boy in seattle. one of nine children treated in washington state just this fall. now doctors say the cases could be a rare illness known as afm, acute malitis beginning with weakne reflexes, and paralysis in hours. cases have been reported in 33 states this year. another day of transportation woes as the strike enters a second day. the strike was not supposed to affect commuter rail lines and services in areas outside of the city, but the transit agency said striking workers were preventing some regional train crews from reported to work. that's caused train
