making news in america this monday morning -- the final day before the election, the candidates hitting multiple states. making their final pitch to the american people. hillary clinton bringing out big stars. and donald trump is outraged that the fbi cleared clinton again. breaking overnight, a powerful earthquake rocks oklahoma. three other states. we now have new video coming in of the damage left behind. happening now, the all-out search for a missing mother who seemingly vanished while jogging. overnight, her husband speaking out for the first time. and a dangerous high-speed chase ends violently. watch as the driver weaves through the streets and smashes into a barrier.

good monday morning, everyone. so close to election day. and we're going to start with the latest dramatic twist in the race. >> fbi director james comey delivered yet another surprise announcement, clearing hillary clinton again after sifting through thousands of newly discovered e-mails. that decision is not sitting well, as you might imagine, with donald trump, as he campaigned well past midnight in virginia he revived claims that the system is rigged. >> clinton hea including lebron james. we get the latest from abc's elizabeth hur. good morning, elizabeth. >> reporter: kendis and diane, good morning to you. and, yes. after the october surprise many doubted we would hear from the fbi again before the election. but here we are. just nine days after announcing the renewed investigation, the fbi says their work is finished and charges against clinton are not warranted. this morning, the final fight for the battleground states with donald trump and hillary clinton

full of surprises. the latest from the fbi clearing clinton again. fbi director james comey now telling congressional leaders based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in july. sources telling abc that the new batch of e-mails contained duplicates that the fbi had already reviewed. trump who first criticized the fbi when there were no charges. then the new e-mails were discovered. is now outraged again. >> right now, she's being protected by a rigged system. >> reporter: clinton's campaign saying they're glad the matter is resolved. but no public comment from the candidate. she's wrapping up a weekend of star-studded campaigning and declaring what's at stake. >> it is a choice between division or unity. between strong, steady leadership, or a loose cannon.

fighting to the finish. >> i want to be the president for all americans. those who vote for me and those who do not vote for me. >> on november 8th, we're going to do something so special. >> reporter: and here's what the day looks like for the two candidates. trump is scheduled to hit five states today with a final rally set in grand rapids, michigan, with running mate mike pence. as for clinton, her last ca independence hall in philadelphia with president obama, first lady, michelle, and bruce springsteen. kendis and diane? >> yeah, and the president will also be in michigan for hillary clinton as well. the final day on the campaign trail will stretch into the early morning hours of election day. >> abc news political director rick klein has more on the marathon campaigning and the impact of the fbi's decision. rick?

surprise. the fbi director coming out with a surprise letter that suggests that the e-mail probe that he said would be opened just a few days ago now closed again. clinton supporters rejoicing in the news, saying it gives her a clean bill of legal health. heading into the election. donald trump supporters saying it was clinton's folks who questioned the fbi director's impartiality all along. clears the deck for hillary clinton. if she's able to close the campaign the way she wants to, whether it's lebron james or bruce springsteen or jon bon jovi, she was hoping to make the big turnout effort where the attention is not on her and the e-mail issue that has dogged her campaign. donald trump will be scattered around the states to make up whatever ground he has. the momentum back with hillary clinton supporters. hillary clinton now once again established as the front-runner. it's too soon to call the election. there are still too many battleground states at play. clinton seeing a good weekend come out of a very bad stretch. diane and kendis. and the candidates, of

>> both campaigns spent more on ads in florida than any other state. jonathan karl takes a look at the map with david muir. >> the state the democrats really hoped that they can put this away is the state of florida. right now we have seen early voting. it ended today. democrats have a 33,000 vote advantage over republicans in florida. the clinton team thinks it's actually much higher than that. they believe they have a big advantage among independents. if they carry florida, it's over. >> many of those independents hispanic voters. that could be a big headline. in the mean time, donald trump has to pick off some of the blue on the map. donald trump eyeing another big state? >> absolutely. look in the rust belt. wisconsin, michigan, pennsylvania. no state more than michigan. the trump team sees signs that they could actually win in michigan. the clinton team is concerned about michigan, as well. that could be -- could be trump's ace in the hand. on the final full day of

rallies in pennsylvania, michigan, and north carolina. tim kaine will have separate events in north carolina and his home state of virginia. trump is on a five-state blitz stopping in florida, north carolina, pennsylvania, new hampshire, and michigan. mike pence will join him after rallies in minnesota and pennsylvania. >> good frequent flyer miles they're getting today. >> yes, quite a few. stay with us on tuesday night. election night. our political team will be here every step of the way. this morning's other big story, an earthquake has struck major oil hub in oklahoma. >> the 5.0 magnitude quake hit before 8:00 on sunday night in cushing. it calls itself the pipeline crossroads of the world. >> the quake left behind shattered windows and brought down building facades. there's concern about the oil pipelines, as well as one of the world's largest oil storage terminals. so far no problems have been reported. authorities say there are some

oklahoma has had 19 earthquakes in just the past week alone. and thousands in recent years. nearly all have been traced to the underground injection of left over waste water from oil and gas production. and breaking news from florida. the nation's first female attorney general, janet reno, has died. she was a key vfigure in the clinton administration. reno was alo she unsuccessfully ran for governor there. she died from complications of parkinson's disease. janet reknow was 78 years old. still ahead, a mother of two suddenly vanishes after going for a jog. we have the latest on the search as the reward increases. and overnight, a driver in a mercedes on the run from police. ending in a violent crash. a nascar driver pulled over for speeding on his way to the racetrack. >> that's a joke, right?

a stolen car slams into a freeway barrier, ending a police chase in los angeles. officers tailed the mercedes for about an hour sunday night. it sped across four freeways before finally crashing into a sand barrier, sending a huge cloud into the air. and surrendered to police. car we have breaking news now. just in time for election day, it appears philadelphia's transit strike over. the city had planned to ask the court for a one-day pause in the strike. that apparently won't be necessary. most of philadelphia's voters are democrats. pennsylvania is a battleground

goes and the presidential election in general. in georgia, now, a deputy sheriff hads been killed in an ambush. following a dispute between neighbors. deputy patrick sundgren died. another deputy was injured. they didn't have a chance to return fire. the resident was taken into custody. the u.s.-led coalition is now opening a second front against isis. forces are appro the head quarters of isis there. that battle could force isis to divert forces from mosul in iraq. they're advancing in that city. both ground operations are being supported by coalition air strikes. gas is flowing again in a pipeline between the gulf coast and the new york city area. it hads been shut down for six

fire. colonial pipeline says it will take three days for the gas to begin arriving at the new jersey terminal. the pipeline can carry 1.3 million barrels of gas a day. the financial markets are banking that hillary clinton will carry pennsylvania and the other states this election. dow jones stock futures jumped about 200 points after the fbi director said he still doesn't see a case over clinton's e-mails. asian financial markets were up on that news, as well. when we come back, the man accused of chaining up a woman in a metal container is now being investigated as a serial killer. details of his confession. what was found on his property? and no excuses. the woman who cast her vote

you know, she could drop her phone. but she would never, in a million years, not pick up our children on the time that she normally would have. >> reporter: search teams over the past five days scouring the surrounding area for clues. trying to piece together what happened to this beloved mother. and sherri's husband says he's been questioned by investigators and he's cooperating. papini's family offering a $50,000 reward to anybody that can provide any sort of information leading to the missing woman's location. authorities in south carolina now suspect that real estate agent todd kohlhepp may be a serial killer. he's confessed to killing four people at a motorcycle shop in 2003. and he's being held without bond after a court appearance in that case. this follows the discovery of a woman changed inside a container on his property last week. the remains of her boyfriend and another person were also found on the property. and a woman is in critical condition after an air cannon exploded during a pumpkin

investigators say the cannon, called the pumpkin reaper came apart during the launch, sending pieces of machinery through the air. a 39-year-old woman was hit in the head and the face. a 56-year-old man was also hurt with nonlife-threatening injuries. this almost sounds like a joke. a race car driver stopped for going too fast. talking about dale earnhardt jr., who was pulled over for speeding on his way to the texas motor speedway in ft. worth. his fiance posted the picture of the traffic stop. earnhardt got away with just a warning. he's unable to race right now because of a concussion. when asked on twitter how fast he was going, earnhardt replied, not fast enough. clearly. >> i was just practicing, officer. just trying to stay warm. >> i think it was just at 120 miles an hour. >> just a little over the limit. time now for sports, including the raiders taking the top spot in the afc west. >> here's our guy at espn with the highlights. >> good morning, america. welcome to the studios of espn

checking our top stories, the candidates are rushing across the country in a final campaign blitz. donald trump is holding rallies in five states while hillary clinton is getting a boost from some celebrities and doing some travels of her own. >> clinton is picking up momentum after she was cleared by the fbi yet again. after reviewing an additional batch of e-mails, fbi director jim comey is sticking with his initial decision not the charge clinton. weav former u.s. attorney general janet reno has died. she was the first woman to hold that title. she died from complications related to parkinson's disease. janet reno was 78 years old. today's weather, mild and dry in the west. cool and dry in the east. in between, plenty of rain. heavy near the gulf. showers in the midwest. and we are finally just one more day to go until election day after an extensive, expensive, and draining campaign for president for everyone, i think.

our team has tallied up all the moments to bring us a breakdown of how this campaign shook out. abc's arlett signs has the numbers. >> reporter: 511 days. that's how long it's been since donald trump rode the trump tower elevator to announce his presidential run. during this race, hillary clinton visited 37 states. trump travelled to 44. by the end of tonight, trump will give 302 speeches. a few dozen more than clinton. then there's the fund-raising. here's where we really see a difference. trump attended between 50 and 60 fund raisers while clinton went to more than 350. that affects how much money they brought in. clinton raising nearly two times morehan the gop nominee. and how are they spending that money? well, a good portion of it son ads. an area where the clinton team has trounced trump. according to an abc news analysis, the clinton orbit has spent $253 million on tv ads.
