last minute votes. the voter registration system is up and down frustrating thousands of voters. >> we're live at the secretary of state's office to sort this out. statewide voter registration system was down for 29 minutes. and back up now. but for able to process ballots and some had to cast provisional ballots. i'm joined with secretary of state wayne williams. what can you tell us about what went wrong? >> we're working on the cause. we did work to bring up the system again once it did go down. colorado law does have provisions so that individuals that were in line cast a

>> and how much of a delay does this cause in the results? >> no one was turned away and anyone still had the ability to cast a ballot. they're clear on that point and no one gets turned away even if the system is down for a minute or 29 minutes. we have 2.4 million ballots. those results will be released as soon as as the clerks process them as others. you'll have initial results by 7:30. those wwll represent at least 2 million of the ballots cast. >> the system is back up and running now, down for 29 minutes. with that system down temporarily, some were frustrated.

the outage now. >> it lasted just about 30 minutes. it's now back up and people were able to vote, let me tell you what they did. they started a provisional voting process and one person made it through and it takes longer. by the time others were ready to receive it, that system was up and running again. so, one person cast it vote will be counted as long as that person was able to vote. the line here is 10 minutes. longer sometimes but it's nothing these people can't handle here. your voice, your vote, and last minute voters have some last minutes to vote and they are. making their ways to the polls. the latest ballot returns, 2.4 million have been received.

and we're live in a polling center to show how many people are casting before the deadline. >>reporter: we're at downing and this is one of the busiest locations. it's this long or longer since 7:00 a.m. at last count, 107 people in line and the wait is 1.5 hours an here in line asking the people if they're frustrated but he's pleased with the voter turnout. and we could expect an 80% turn out in the state, that's a huge number. i'm joined here now with a first time voter, 20-year-old alexander perez and why are you waiting today? >> it's a big moment for our generation to vote. i wanted to go in and

it's very exciting. i'm excited to cast my ballot. >> colorado has very high early voting numbers but we're hearing from some of you concerned that your mail in ballots were rejected. we're live from jefferson county. it has to do with the signature? >> here's one of the sample envelopes. the signature bar, i'm the first to admit, i don't know how this wo signature varies with the mood i'm in. you might be the same. it doesn't match on this with what they have with voter registration or you don't sign it, your ballot will be rejected. >> i've taken the time to do the research and i was concerned that i world wouldn't be able to vote. >> her mail in ballot process

this morning that her ballot was rejected. >> it's been 20 years, and it changes. >> it didn't match what they had on file and we found others sounding off on social media and writing denver 7 who had the same problem. it's not uncommon and something that hit the secretary of state name and by the time she was a college student it was a scrawl and the clerk sent her a letter saying this doesn't match. >> i reviewed it and commended my judges and she connected it. >> there are two primary reasons that it would be rejected, no signature or a signature that doesn't resemble what is on file.

and we're in mount bellow as well. >> yes, police are processing the scene. llok behind me, still out here, and they're not telling us much other than the fact this was all because of a deadly shooting investigation that started in aurora. an officer was sent to an house to investigate a shooting, the suspect was still that police officer received information about the whereabouts. and thht is where we're at. 46th and dearborn is where he lived. and this is a pictured taken by the neighbor. outside what is believed to be the residence. the officer involved in the

life-threatening injuries. and while we're out here, i spoke with a gentlemen that knew the victim and he that was shot and killed. >> just hardworking, just every day person. i see he him every now and then. to hear names threw me off. >> the same gentlemen tells because his friend was dating the woman who had a child with the suspect. this crossed into denver so the jurisdiction also responded but the denver officer was not injured. we're in denver, denver 7. and air tracker 7 flew over the scene where it started.

who saw everything? >> she came over here to visit a niece and parked her suv against the apartment building and she noticed the driver point a gun out his window aiming at a young man and heard the gunfire. a few hours ago, evidence markers on the pavement next to shell casings left behind. you crews removed his clothing in an effort to safe his life. >> i didn't duck, i got under my car to go to see what the little boy was doing. and trying to tell the man stop. >> the only thing that police told me, this shouting was linked to the one in that area. she was a nurse at one point and with a number of shots
