being attacked for participating in an election recount we didn't ask for. and kellyanne conway calling this side sore losers. trump's team saying he's having regular conversations with president obama. one that lasted 45 minutes on saturday. now to our other main story. the reaction to the death of former cuban leader fidel castro. workers have been preparing hava havana's revolution square, where a series of tributes will take place. cuba. thousands of cubans expected to sign a condolence book in the square today. abc's david muir is in havana. >> reporter: all across havana, we noticed the flags at half staff. the cubans honoring their long-time leader. and on the streets of the capital, the cuban people mourning fidel castro who defied ten u.s. presidents for half a century. he took power on new year's day 1959, promising democracy. but soon throwing opponents in jail. there were executions.

and taking over all u.s. businesses here. signing a pact with the soviet union. the u.s. would respond with sanctions. president kennedy approving the invasion of cuban exiles entering at the bay of pigs. it failed. castro won. 11 million people live here in cuba making just $20 a month. by some estimates, just 5% have internet access in their homes. on the streets, something else. the american tourists. there are now more of them here than there have been in decades. this group from california. what do you hope for the cuban people? >> i hope to see them have a better life. have -- be open. more open and more happy. experience more. be able to travel outside of the cuba and see other people. see how other people live. and enjoy life a little bit more, right? >> reporter: a nation numb,
