lives back together, police say scammers are trying to profit. bob redell is live and it's only been a week since the explosion, but already they caught several people trying to take advantage of free food and take aid from the people who need it most. >> that was their intent according to police. police arrested four people for trying to pretend to be san browno fire victims. they were caught trying to apply for new driver's licenses with that id and new driver's license and they could have been eligible for financial aid being handed out to the real victims. some of whom are seen sift their homes at the blast site. they want all homeowners to be careful about being victimized a second time. the state licensing board and the department of insurance will hold a news conference to warn

homeowners about possible scam when is it comes to having their home repaired or rebuilt. the differently insurance made a few recommendations. you see the pocket license and you know they are licensed and they have the license number off that. you can go online or call the california department of insurance and check the status to see if they have major violations to make sure it's still inpact. you top the make sure they have insurance coverage. don't rush into a courteous. you want to get advice for those making a major purchase or spending a lot of money. hire local whenever possible and never pay the entire bill up front or before the work is completed. to check the license status,

>> yes. we had everything in place on monday morning when the children came in. the county was phenomenal providing the response team to bring the counsellors and the staff did a great job to make sure they are cared for and safe and provided them with support. >> i know every child is going to react differently. have they been vocal about what they are going through? kids can be resilient. >> the children came in monday and were so happy to see classmates sitting next to them at school. counsellors advised us in the next couple of weeks we may see signs of children having nightmares and complain of stomach aches and things like that and possibly regress in school. we will look out for those things and provide support. >> it's frightening for them because they live in fear too. what about yourself? you not only work in san bruno

that more and more americans are getting high. this government study is being released today and also blames the increased marijuana use for a spike in overall illegal drug use, specifically methamphetamine and ecstasy. the drug policy czar believes young people are exposed to a mixed message that marijuana is medicine. the obama administration is opposed to legalization and the survey is being released as california voters consider an issue on legalization prop 19. one advocate said it's just more proof that the war on marijuana failed and it's time for sensible marijuana laws. here's what people are using. marijuana use as we said is up along with ecstasy, meth, and prescription drug abuse. here's what people are not using as least as much. futer people are smoking cigarettes or abusing cocaine. the survey doesn't distinguish

and what needs to be done. >> good morning to you. we spoke with the red cross about an hour ago. their message is thank you for all the money you donated to the people who have been affected by the disaster here in san bruno. they have more than enough. the agency is no longer accepting money that is designated for the san bruno disaster. instead they are asking if you want to make a donation, designate it for the general fund and it can be used for others. the salvation army has been overwhelmed and they can now send donations to other people in need who weren't victims of the san bruno fire. >> the response of donation of time and money has been overwhelming. our community and the partners here are just unbelievable. >> are you surprised? >> yes and no. we are always surprised by the amount that comes at you, but

it's a very, very good feeling for the community to do this. this community is very heart-connected. >> last night at 6:00, the red cross shut down its temporary command center at the rec center here in san bruno and they opened a more permanent location in an office building across from the bay hill shopping center. the address is 900 cherry avenue, suite 332. if you want to help out, they are taking money for the general fund. general fund donations and go do bay area red cross.org. live here in san bruno live here in the bay. >> pg&e is checking out other gas lines under neighborhoods that could be at risk. the main natural gas transmission line in pleasanton runs east to west, just south of the alameda county fire grounds. the highest risk is south and east of livermore.

but what really happened? cnn -- not me -- cnn says his assertion about his tax record was "just plain wrong." jerry brown went out there and took credit for the fact that the people of california voted for proposition 13, which lowered taxes, which he opposed. and now he's going around taking credit for it. he raised taxes as governor of california. he had a surplus when he took office and a deficit when he left. he doesn't tell the people the truth.
