and this is one of the spots under a heat warning as temperatures get close to 90. concord right now and livermore is 67. it is dry out there and we will see the winds picking up around sunrise. we have the red flag up and richmond, oakland, hayward and fremont under excessive heat warning for today into wednesday as well for the temperatures you are about to see the 95 degrees in livermore and 92 in dublin. pleasanton is 95. look at san francisco. 92 degrees and oakland inland across the east bay and lots of 90s. we will see how long the heat will stick around in the seven-day forecast. >> thank you. turning to mike, you are working on something fairly serious? >> we will take you to the south bay where we have a major injury accident. the details on the call say it involves a motorcycle and a sedan and the coroner is being

called. of course we can draw conclusions from that. the accident is currently blocking all lanes. i will encourage folks to use almaden expressway. that will join you towards highway 87 further north and the rest of the south bay is looking smooth. 680 and 880 out of sunol, we are seeing no problems, but we will follow the injury accident. they should have 87 with one lane open soon. i will let you know if a few minutes. developing news out of antioch. there is a two-alarm fire at an apartment at gentry town drive. we are hearing it is under control and at this point no reports of any injuries, but we will keep you updated. meg whitman and jerry brown will get their last face-to-face meeting tonight. the latest average of polls show that brown is pulling ahead.

his lead is now six points. tonight's gubernatorial debate will be at dominican university at san rafael in the east bay's christie smith with live with more on how the university is getting ready. >> dominican university is certainly ready. there metal barricades just about everywhere as they prepare to come for their final televised debate and voters getting a chance to think about the questions they would like to see answered tonight. aside from the political issues, there problems within the campaign. meg whitman under fire for treatment of her undocumented housekeeper and democrat jerry brown, his staffers have a use of a sexist remark when discussing whitman has the campaign under fire. the event certainly allows the candidate to reassure their

crimes plaguing oakland. a plan that tries to curb crime against women. as today in the east bay, cheryl hurd reports measure bb has people talking. >> because some people are for bb and others are against it. women who live here in the city of oakland are paying close attention because some are calling it the crime-fighting bill. >> at the moment i feel safe. >> safety is a major issue for kathy who lived in oakland for five years. >> i'm a homeowner and it would help my immediate neighborhood and probably all of oakland to have more police available. >> police staffing a major issue for oakland. some believe measure bb is the answer to put more cops on the street. betsy said it's tied to programs to stop bloodshed on the streets of oakland. >> if measure bb doesn't pass, this and many other programs will have to end.

and they are not happy with measure y. in oakland, today in the east bay. our group of medical marijuana patients, doctors and suppliers will throw support behind prop 19 rallying at city halls in oakland and los angeles at 10:30. they endorsed it that regulates and taxes pot in california. a former oakland police deputy chief under investigation for letting his girlfriend drive a police car which she promptly crashed. lieutenant jeff lowman's girlfriend was driving a police car on thursday when she smashed into a honda on buck's county road. the driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. the girlfriend was also injured. lieutenant lowman was demoted from deputy police chief to lieutenant after a sexual

harassment investigation and is under investigative leave. nurse process test the fact that they haven't had a contract since july and the hospital's proposal would cut health benefits. today in the east bay is live outside children's hospital where the strike will start in a few hours. good morning, chris. >> good morning to you. although everything is quiet here, we expect the nurses will start to arrive in the next couple of hours. it might seem ironic to you that they are fighting for health care benefits since they are providers, but when you talk about health care it costs money and that's what the hospital said they don't have right now. the nurse's union doesn't believe it. they have been going back and forth over the contract since the middle of may and this is where we find ourselves on the picket line today. the health benefits and pay are the sticking points. they want to freeze the pay following years of raises and wants to offer an option that

would require the nurses to pay between $11 and $300 out of their own pocket for their care and the care of their family. the hospital lost $69 million over four years, but one nurse who works here said the hospital could lose much more than money. >> this hospital being able to provide the kind of care it has been, it needs to have the nurse there is to do it. >> reporter: children's hospital oakland has replacement nurses to step in. more than 700 said they will walk the picket line and do that today, tomorrow, and thursday. we expect that to start in just a few hours. we will keep you posted. chris sanchez today in the bay. >> all hail the conquering heroes. the giants are back home, winners of their divisional series with the braves. we have video pulling into the stadium about an hour ago.
