the world series, san francisco is game one and we are trying to figure out if the weather will cooperate. let's check in with rob for the game day forecast. >> looks like a game time decision with the way the system is slowing down. it could be good news for the game. we have north bay rain as we head through lunchtime. the system is keeping the rain for marin county northward around the start of the game e. most of the rain will be off to the north, but as the game goes on around the fifth and sixth inning, showers that might impact the morning commute maybe in the north bay. >> we will watch for the reports and so far no problems as you reported. getting to the game tonight may be a problem for folks. a lot of congestion and avoid the surface street fist you can. bart is a great option. you don't have to pay for parking and that gets you in the area of the ballpark and muni will take you the rest of the way and you walk to the wonderful seats to root the

he sold two bars to garcia in late 2007. >> a santa clara police officer will face charges of providing a hells angels member with confidential information. clay rojas is suspected of providing confidential dmv information. police say he knew william betancourt was a member of the hell's angels and don't know why he gave betancourt the information. both are5ñ accused of conspirac. a local nonprofit could have been a target of an alleged shooting rampage. they shot at officers in a traffic stop. an investigation later revealed that williams was on his way to several locations, including the tides foundation in san francisco. chp officers shot him several times and he survived because he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. no prfs were injury and williams is in custody on felony charges

good thursday morning. taking a live look outside from the south bay, these are expected highs and definitely a cool start. san francisco's 62. fremont 66 and rain in the forecast, when and where. >> new this morning, important information before you get in your car. nissan is recalling a million vehicles mostly in the united states and japan. this is the third largest recall in nissan's history that affects the march mikra, the cube and a dozen other models between august of 2003 and july of 2006. nissan wants to fix a faulty relay that could cause the engine to stall or not restart. there no accidents because of the defect and this recall is

mostly a precautionary measure. >> scott has been talking for weeks about how the mortgage mess and foreclosure documents hurrs bay area homeowners. i agree with you. >> i will be doctor doom and here's the latest thing that are going to absolutely ruin house prices in the bay area. there is pressure to end foreclosures to see if banks can get their papers in order. the biggest lenders are foreclosing on the wrong homeowners and homes they don't own. on wednesday we saw the first congressional hearing on the problem and one of the top women at the treasury told lawmakers the foreclosure errors will push down home prices, most in california, nevada, florida, and arizona. phyllis caldwell was testifying before congress. it was very straight forward. we rarely see politicians told

5:23 and up to 57 degrees thanks to clouds and mild air moving to the santa clara valley. 56 in oakland and not much wind. from san bruno looking back towards at&t park. 53 degrees and a southwest wind at 8. just to the north, that's where most of the rain will set up in the afternoon. a lot of moisture out of the south, but the jet stream is dropping behind the system put the brakes on it this morning. not going from west to east and should hold position. as we approach the evening, the rain we are seeing around sonoma north of healdsberg will slide to the south. a slower arrival for the more

detect and manage bed bugs as well as rights and responsibilities to control the pests. tonight's meeting will be at meadow homes starting at 6:30. san mateo high will open the new state-of-the-art biotechnology training center. a ribbon cutting for the $6 million center is set for 5:30 tonight. it's a partnership with local biotech companies that help prepare students for careers in science. it includes an 18-station lab and a biomanufacturing room and a plant tissue culture facility. >> a field poll shows that jerry brown is widening his lead over meg whitman. 49% of likely voters favor brown compared to 39% of meg whitman. her ratings are at record levels despite spending her own monoher campaign. 5% of voters support other candidates and 7% are undecided. whitman is getting a key

endorsement. the "san francisco examiner" will endorse her. the paper said brown has no proof that he has a coherent plan to fix the state budget. the examiner said whitman will be a more trustworthy obstacle to more taxes and spending in sacramento than another jerry brown would ever be. they are against proposition 19 and supports carly fiorina for senate. fiorina is resting at home after spending two days in the hospital recovering for an infection. it stems from a battle with breast cancer. the former hp ceo plans to hit the trial hoping to sway undecided voters. a recent poll shows fiorina trailing barbara boxer among female voters by 16%, but other less specific polls show a closer race. >> it is 5:35 and a man accused

of raping a woman in an apartment complex is expected in court. they raved william yoke am at the complex. he and the victim, a 27-year-old woman knee each other when he allegedly forced his way into her home and assaulted her. major health problems like diabetes and an infected foot would have kept him from being able to over power someone. >> a police officer will be back in court today. a preliminary hearing will continue. detectives say the 20-year-old confess and also allegedly told them he did not know that the man he shot was an officer at the time. his mother testified that her son called her and he had messed up and shot a police officer. she charged with more than a dozen felonies, including attempted murder for shooting officer todd young in august. the preliminary hearing will

boston and hardfort, connecticut. the bay area slipping a bit. you were number two last year. this is a survey that comes out annually. only the second by the daily beast. they look at lots of things in the city like how many people have bachelor's degrees and graduate degrees and the intellectual environment. the ratio of colleges and libraries to the population and also for the first time this year, they looked at book sales. what are people reading in the bay area? nonfiction. they put all offing to and come up with an intelligent quotient that is 156, the third highest in the nation for the bay area. about a quarter of your residents have bachelor's degrees and 17% have graduate degrees. that's pretty high. 7.7 million people in the bay area bought nonfiction books. folks are pretty smart according to the daily beast. >> thanks, tracy.

>> developing news out of san diego this morning that we are following. a police officer has been shot to death and s.w.a.t. crews are on the scene in a standoff with suspects. these are live pictures in san diego this morning. it started in a complex where police and mar shals were doing a probation check. officers reportedly entered the apartment and tried to force entry into a bedroom where one suspect had himself barricaded. someone opened far and shot an officer and injured a police dog. the officer was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. the dog is expected to survive and underwent surgery this morning. right now suspect is in custody, but the suspect in the bedroom is still barricaded inside. it led to the s.w.a.t.-type situation in san diego. the standoff is now going into its seventh hour. >> time now is 5:44 and thanks
