weekend. a lot of cooling on the way. we will walk you through the seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> mike is off this morning, but we have a look at the morning commute. all green and looking great in the south bay. 85 and 87 moving at the speed limit. south bay times are fabulous. 280 as well as 87 gets you to the airport if you are heading out of town. the same on the peninsula this morning. we will keep you updated on your morning commute. three men are in custody after leading oakland police and the highway patrol on a high speed chase across the bay bridge. the chp said the chase began on westboundster state 580 in oakland. officers tried to stop the car because they thought it was stolen. it continued across the bay bridge and 1:30 in the morning. the driver turned around and tried to head back to oakland.

the chp finally stopped the car near 23rd and east 25th street. the car turned out to not be stolen so officers are now trying to question the men to trying to figure out why they sped away. also new, the san francisco 49ers stadium proposal goes back before the city council today. it will occur tabling a plan and there is no immediate rush since the team announced there is a delay and the opening is expected in 2015. the counsel will consider a billing agreement between the city and the team for a police escort. the santa clara council wants the team to reimburse the police department for the escorts as they occur. >> work is under way on building muni's central subway line south of market area and chinatown. officials still need $137 million for the expansion

project. only a little more than $1 billion in local, state, and federal funds is earmarked for the project. the transportation authority will have a funding update to obtain that money, city officials may hire lower cost contractors or receive grant bonding and money from federal loan programs. >> the crab season is under way. they will set traps despite mixed reviews on whether the timing is right. testing did show that many crabs are ready, although some are still not quite meaty enough. crabbers say there big number this is year. they just don't seem to be fattened up just yet. >> the test results came back mixed. it showed that a lot of the crabs that were taken from the deep off half moon and san francisco were filled out and high quality. there is concern with the crab

that was taken closer to shore. >> crabbers delayed the start of the season on sunday because they wanted to make sure that the crabs have enough meat on them. fishermen who are going to head out this morning say they want to make sure there soare some crabs in the market in time for thanksgiving. >> this may not even begin to describe the season. today in the bay's chris sanchez is live in san jose why where they are getting ready for thanksgiving. good morning. >> this is really an amazing place because this food bank serves the different agencies in addition to the people who need help. we are talking about salvation army. the need has risen by more than 30%. the same story in san francisco for the food bank. there they are doing things differently and serving the need for foot and connecting the folks with the community that gives it.

support with the meeting and the consul general. >> johannis mehserle could be free on jail in three weeks. we will be back in an l.a. courtroom december 3rd. his lawyer told us he will ask the judge to release him on bail during the appeals process. he was sentenced to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the death of oscar grant two years ago. if the judge agrees, he would set the amount that would have to be posted before mehserle is freed. that could happen the same day as the hearing. mike is off and we have a look at the commute in the east bay. things are rolling along fine. it always seems to be the case to get a jump on traffic. it's 5:09. caldecott tunnel is free moving. good things to report there. same thing. looks good along the pass area.

85 to 87 all moving at traffic speeds and above average the not too bad. what about the weather? >> the weather not getting in the way. we don't have fog or rain. the weekend might be different. 53 in san jose. that 53 you are seeing could be the high come saturday and sunday. much cooler weather comes our way. 55 degrees in oakland and clear skies. 56 in san francisco. we have really nothing on the radar right now. we will see the case of sunrise. the winds out of the north and east bay mix down to the surface. breezy and dry and the storm is off to the north for now, but that drops down our way for friday and the week ahead. another day of 70s and yesterday we did get low 80s and we are expecting a day close to the high temperatures. not quite as warm and not as warm into tomorrow and thursday. highs into the 60s, but it's the weekend where you see the scattered showers and highs only in the mid 50s through monday of

miles per hour out of the northeast. in san francisco, 56 degrees and no fog right now. we should see mostly sunny skies again. highs mainly 70s and beginning tomorrow. as we head to thursday, we will cool off and the chances of rain pick up into friday and the weekend ahead. the radar view nice and dry. we will continue to see this off to the west. another day of mostly sunny skies and around peninsula areas and the coast, the bigger changes arrive thursday and friday as the cold system drops in. this will usher in the sea breeze on thursday and lead to cooling thursday and france a chance of showers from north to south. wait until you see the weekend temperatures amount of lot different than we have been seeing. highs mid- to upper 70s for most of the south bay. should see 60s closer to the coastline as winds slowly stop being offshore and start to turn

minutes. >> now an update on developing news about a police chase from the city and back. christie smith is live near where the chase end and police are trying to follow out why they were trying to run in the first place. >> that's exactly right. dispeak with oakland police and they believe it's possible that the people involved in this chase coop the same people wanted in a spring of street robberies. up to in the last 24 hours. it's possible that the car may indeed be stolen. it has no license plates on it this morning. we can tell you that three people in the car are in custody after a chase and a very intense search through the neighborhood here at east 25th and highland streets in oakland. officers from several agencies have their guns drawn as they looked for the driver who bailed out and ran. back to the beginning, the

latest robbery they are telling me happened near gene street early this morning. the description of the suspect and car are similar to one officers spotted near interstate 580 at about 1:15 this morning. oakland police chased the car and chp took over with the driver going-over the bridge and quickly turning around at the island coming back to oakland. the chp using a pit maneuver to try to stop the car, using their police cruiser to force the driver to turn. he crashed into a parked car and two people were arrested inside the car. a man and a woman against the driver who ran into back yards here. with the help of emeryville police and the dog. they were able to arrest the third person who was the driver after about 90 minutes. at this point oakland police have wrapped up here.

that's the latest from here live in oakland, christie smith, today in the bay. >> thanks a lot, christie. >> an east bay man is getting help from police in nabbing the person responsible. the victim doesn't want to reveal his identity. burglars broke in and took his mac pro computer, but he said he knows he has protection. he installed tracking software called prey that enables his computer to take a picture of the suspect and reveal his location. >> i figured this is great. i have a photo of the individual using my stolen machine as well as the location of the block or the neighborhood he was useing it from. >> the victim is frustrated because oakland police have not contacted him even though he said he has all the evidence. we contacted the police department and they have not returned our calls. >> an emotional day in a richmond courtroom for the

pretrial concerning the gang rape of a young girl outside of a high school dance. seven suspects wearing shackles and handcuffs escorted into the courthouse yesterday. after the hearing, the judge is set to determine if there is enough evidence to go forward with the trial. three of the suspects are being tried as adults and all can face live n prison. a police officer testified that he found the girl draped over a bench. he said "i thought she was dead. the only things touching the ground were the tops of her feet and the side of her face. i went up and shook her and she moaned a little bit." that preliminary hearing is expected to last about three weeks. a fight over slots. they wanted to build a casino in richmond, but now a new report said the only environmental friendly option would be a marijuana-growing field. the report said it would bring in $3.2 million per year in tax

revenue. the city council rejected the proposal for a casino. now the developers are the ones who funded this study, leading to claim that is what they are trying to do is make the casino look lick a better option in comparison with a pot farm. new this morning, it could take weeks instead of months to begin rebuilding the neighborhood devastated by the natural gas line explosion in early september. last month leaders expressed desire to expedite the permit process for the owners wanting to rebuild. the planning commissionville a first look at the changes. if planners approve the changes, the city council could review as early as next tuesday. standards could be put in place by mid-january. >> air travelers voicing outrage and a security screening at airports across the country. travelers and airport workers say the tsa is taking

anti-terrorism measures too far. travelers and pilot unions are unhappy with full scans calling them virtual strip searches. if you don't go through the scanner, then you have to submit to an enhanced pat down and travelers like john said it really aims to legalized sexual assault. >> i don't want some random stranger looking at my naked body. my traveling by plane doesn't warrant that for me. >> he said that the federal government should get out of the business of aviation security. the homeland security chief said the tsa is open to change. >> airlines could be forced to park aging planes under a new rule. the rule is meant to prevent widespread fatigue to allow airlines to put the planes out to pasture when they reach the mandated lifespan. kevin coakley reports. >> we kids and i pray and said

spending, he said this is a symbolic step to show voters we are serious about cutting spending and the republican caucuses will be voting on that today. a big nash they are dealing with in the lame duck session is taxes. it seems there is some compromise coming to bear about those tax cuts that expire at the end of the year. the white house and the democrats and the republicans possibly all agreeing to at least a one-year temporary extension for those who makeover $250,000. laura? >> thank you very much. >> new this morning, a san francisco hospital is planning an all out feast with turkey and all the trim accident. the diabetes center, san francisco general hospital is getting ready to host the 25th annual thanksgiving meal. it will be prepared by patients and hospital staff to practice healthy eating habits while building a sense of community. the meal is designed to teach

you have to guess at the price of the market capitalization. bloomberg decided facebook is worth a whopping $41 billion. that's bigger than ebay which we can measure. that's worth $39 billion. facebook announcing a new messaging system, sort of e-mail meets chat meets texting. we heard ceos say a lot of things, but i'm sorry is fairly rare. the ceo of fap apologized for his company's theft of oracle software secrets. the two companies are in an oakland courtroom this morning trying to figure out how much sap should pay for the phivation. it could be billions if oracle gets their way. mcdermott was not responsible for the theft, but he is the head or cohead and the buck stops with him and he said he is sorry.

not just here at second harvest food bank, but all-around the bay area. this is an amazing operation. this is the feeding point for about 300 plus agencies that get assistance here to to help the folks they know are in need. catholic charities and milpitas food bank and soup kitchens and pantries. thanks for joining us this morning. we noticed the barrels that have been placed around town. how many of these are you hoping to fill? >> about 13,000. >> that's for thanksgiving and christmas or trying to get started on the right foot for next year. >> that are would be for all year long. 1.7 million pounds of food between now and the end of the year. >> you are hoping to collect about $11 million in donations?

>> that's correct. the goal is to raise $11 million in the holiday food and fund drive. >> with that money, we throw in a couple of cans or a box of cereal, but if we do that, you could take what we use to fill one barrel, you can fill three. >> that's correct. we have strong purchasing power. for every dollar that somebody donates, we can put two meals out to people who need it. >> one of the agencies is the sacred heart community services. they talk about the increase in the requests for help. about 30% here and 30% in san francisco as well. donations are down. why is it that donations are dwindling? >> we are concerned about donations being down and hunger is not front of mind as it was two years ago. we want people to know that people are hungry and they are coming to our food bank and
