planning to go across 80. things will clear up and it won't get warmer at all. we have freeze watches in effect. you might want to cover your plants. let's take a look at the temperatures in the 50s. 50 in fairfield and 50 in livermore and we have 47 degrees in gilroy and it gets colder in the upper elevations women have seen snow falling. crossing through hayward and livermore along 680. watch out for wet roads across the entire area. ponding on the roads as well. the heaviest stuff moved out and we'll see more showers through the area throughout the morning and then we will see the showers coming to an end by the afternoon. then it turns to snow at the upper elevations. snow falling at 2500 feet. not a warm day. topping out in the 50s. you will need the jacket, but not the umbrella.

by this evening, skies will clear and temperatures in the 50s. we are looking at rain coming to an end in time for turkey day, but a little cool. >> we will talk more about snow and water on the roadway. >> the water is keeping the closures we have for construction. those are not there, but in the same spot, we had a disabled vehicle. that person sounds like it might be so long, but the car is being moveed from the roadway. it was a hazard and a little further north, another issue eastbound into the caldecott tunnel. the slow down we see here on highway 13 likely due to the rain on the roadway that causes our senses to skew on the slow side. no major flooding report said, but yesterday 580 saw a lot of flooding. of course the rain is still going.

new this morning, two south korean marines are dead after north korea fired on south korea near the disputed border. they included civilians and 1200 civilians live on the island. south korean responded back with artillery fire and scrambled several f-16 fighters. no u.s. were involved. the white house condems north korea's actions. last march, south korean war ship was sunk. north korea denied responsibility. they are still at war since the 1950 to '53 war ended not with a peace treaty, but a ceasefire. the holiday rush begins today. you can expect a lost company. travel is up 2% over the same time last year. that means you want to plan

closed. hundreds of east bay families have food for thanksgiving dinner all because of a famous bay area humanitarian. the mother wright foundation passed out food near san pablo and market streets in oakland. they gave 700 chickens and trimmings. marian wright passed away a year and a half ago, but her daughter said keeping the foundation running has been hard, but it's needed now more than ever. >> because people don't have their jobs and people lost their homes. it's not just regular people. we have new people that come from different states. they have heard of mother wright. >> they need food and cash not only during the holidays, but all year around. new this morning, a tradition to help neighbors in need kicks off in about an hour and a half. berkeley police will team up

with the boosters. way, the food bank and others to assemble and deliver food baskets. they will assemble boxes in front of the hall of justices on martin luther king,jr. way at 6:00 this morning. officers raised money for the baskets through their annual turkey ride in september. the city of oakland will serve up dinner with all the trimmings. people in need and the homeless are invited to the marriott and oakland city center from 11:00 to 2:00. they will serve 2500 people. donations are being accepted there to the city oakland hunger program. >> a story about a regular joe who has done himself well and giving back to the community. contractor ken houston brought 500 turkeys. trucks with the donation will arrive at the emeryville pack and save and distribute them all over oakland.

let's turn to mike. we have a wet day and a wet commute. >> that are really is the story. thanksgiving week typically the morning commute is very light. a lost folks try to get away. we will see a lot more folks on the roadways, but they hopefully will dry out. the rooster tail going on. wet roads and slick pavement and puddles. no major reports, but they come in as more folks hit the road. we will look at the travel times. 580 and 880 close to the limit, but slowing out of the tunnel on the westbound direction. that may be a sensor issue. i will let you know if there is anything to report. further out throughout the east bay, highway 4 out of antioch and pittsburgh. we will see the slowing about 5:30, but shorter lived as well as 580 and 680 and out of the pass. a smooth and wet commute. make sure the wipers necessary good condition and keep the

this afternoon things will clear out and remain cool. we have a freeze watch in effect for tonight and possibly tomorrow night as well. current temperatures, we have 50 in fairfield and 51 n concord and 50 in livermore and 47 in gilroy. we are not looking at a warm up any time soon. a look at the radar shows the rain passing through and all of this ahead of a cold front that the swing through and cool things down. the rain this morning not really heavy. we saw heavier stuff in the early morning hours. we do see it beginning to taper back. not so in the mountains. a lot of snow falling in the siary nevada and that created problems along 80. forecast highs, only in the 50s. not a big change at all thanks to the colder air out of canada and with this, watch out for cold weather tonight and

to identify him and show figure out who he was. they retrieved pictures and we know that we have talked to his girlfriend who said he has his own daughter and that make this is crime particularly shocking and sad that he as a father could take advantage of a young girl like this. police believe he left the bay area and he is headed down to mexico. we believe he is driving a 1997 ford ranger, gray double cab pick up with a white camper shell. we know that law enforcement works together when they have a suspect description to go on. they can really try to extend the long arm of the law, so to speak and not long ago there was a bay area suspect apprehended. hopefully that will be the case today. 27-year-old omar sosa not believed to be in the bay area anymore, but headed down to mexico.
