"today in the bay" meteorologist, craig herrera. probably wise to take your umbrella wherever you are going? >> we will get a break for most of the day but tonight more rain and tomorrow rkts even more. here is the radar. you saw the picture from san francisco looking across toward marin county. you can see rain moving up along 101 all the way up into santa rosa and bodega bay and vallejo. some in san francisco and san bruno and down the peninsula. most of what comes through this morning will be done by 9:00. right now, mostly 40s and 50s as we go through the afternoon and evening. two storms coming through. one passing through today. just over the coast. the second one will park off the coast tomorrow. a few showers today. more rain tomorrow, especially during the evening hours. snow across the sierra above 5,000 feet. highs in the 50s, mid and upper 50s. we'll talk more about the timing of the rain for today and tomorrow. heavy tonight.

most will happen sunday night more on wednesday, thursday, and friday. we begin with developing news in the east bay. this morning, a young girl is in critical condition after a man shot her when she answered a knock at the door. police say the 9-year-old girl was inside a home on brighton way in hercules when a man knocked on the door. when she opened the door, the gunman shot her in the neck, back and continued firing inside the home. paramedics rushed the girl to children's hospital, oakland. she is expected to survive. right now, police are searching for the suspect while also trying to sort out why the suspect targeted that house and whether or not the people inside knew that gunman. also new, we have surveillance video to show you captured seconds before a convicted sex offender is tackled by customers at an east bay discount store. investigators say this dramatic video shows 36-year-old eugene ramos running through crowded aisles of the dollar store in union city. if you look closely, you can see

how his clothing is being yanked by someone. it was only six minutes after he entered the store that he allegedly attempted to rape a 2-year-old girl in one of the aisles. his mother says he forgot to take his medication for skits sdploe fren ya on the day of the attack he is being held without bail. if he is convicted, he faceings a maximum sentence of 21 years in prison. he was previously convicted of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl. the toddler is with her family. one week after someone torched the mosque attended by the 19-year-old man who was set to blow up the christmas tree. they say they may know who the man is. cody crawford. they are examining evidence from his home.

they found his flashlight along with a red brick next to the mosque. that's important because he lives in a red brick home near that islamic center. he could face charges of arson, burglary, possession and manufacturer of a destructive device. he allegedly tried to blow up the portland christmas celebration. he is still on the loose, the search continues for the man that robbed and sexually assaulted a woman at the south san francisco caltrain station. police say it happened around 9:45 on thursday night. excuse me, as the 28-year-old woman was leaving the station on dubuque avenue. she was able to fight off her attacker but did manage to grab her purpose. he stole her cash before he took off. the sketch of the suspect is here on your screen. take a look at that. if you have any information, call the san francisco police department. excuse me. take a sip of water.

okay. moving along now, this rng month, an east bay family is mourning the loss of their son killed in the line of duty. 26-year-old sergeant matt abate was killed in action on thursday. the maried father of two was in his third deployment. he is the eighth former student from buchanon high school in cloe advi clovis to die in the last six years. we will be right back.

2-year-old girl. investigators say the smugglers threatened to rape and kill them if they didn't have the parents pay more money for their entrance into the u.s. one of the three girls that is living san francisco bay legally called for the fbas help. they raided the drop house and got all children out. two men are under arrest for kidnapping and extortion. both of them are in the couldn't interest i illegally. human trafficking also happens here in our backyard. one woman sold for sex by her own family survived that nightmare. >> when i was two to three-years old is when my father started sexually abusing me. it was sort of i remember just thinking somebody is there to finally hug me, wasn't they hadn't been around. that was when he convinced me that this was daddy loving me.

>> she grew up in san jose. for as long as she can remember, she was taught that as her parents' only daughter, it was her responsibility to serve them. >> my slave role was set in stone by a contract that they made me write when he was eight. so they actually had me write out that i was going to give them one-third of my income for the rest of my life, buy them a house. >> reporter: two years after that contract was signed, her father started taking her to bars and brothels, selling her for sex. >> i remember sitting there and knowing what was going to happen but trying to pretend it wasn't. the whole time my father was raping me at home anyway. to me, that felt like training. he was teaching me how to service somebody and then it was no big deal to go do it for somebody else. >> reporter: she says her father kept the profits and her mother wanted cash for herself started selling men for sex separately. >> they had threatened my life

so early on that i was so afraid to tell anybody. >> reporter: she claims her mother had these photos taken to use for advertising and newspapers. she estimates that in the ten years she was sold for sex, she made her parents more than $2 million. >> my father bought prostitutes. my parents bought two homes, land in vietnam and cars. >> reporter: she graduated at the top of her class in high school and went to uc berkley. she put an end to her abuse. she started speaking public lick about her experience. facing the devastating truth about her childhood was part of her healing process. >> the worst part was not being loved and to feel isolated and alone my whole life. there were people all around. i didn't have a single friend or teacher or anybody i could tell. >> reporter: kimberly terry, "today in the bay." to this day, she has not

pressed any charges against her parents. she says, it is something she considers but knows it will be a painful process and isn't sure whether that's something she wants to endure. dang is working with a victims rights organization to get tougher penalties for traffickers. a home security camera reveals that a lincoln drove by ronni chasen's crash car moments after she was shot. police are trying to figure out whether anyone in that car is connected to the shooting. meanwhile, the police are being tight-lipped whether about the man that said he killed the publicist before he killed himself was telling the truth. >> we have had a lot of cases where people have admitted to murders they didn't commit. be very careful and very fact dr oriented. >> 64-year-old ronni chasen was shot in her car on november 16th in beverly hills as she drove home from a movie premier. if police know the motives, they

aren't saying what it is. outrage calls for a new law after they found a cell phone in the prison cell of charles manson. manson, one of california's most notorious inmates, hid that cell phone underneath his mattress. he reportedly called and sent text messages to people around the country and in canada. manson is not the only one. >> we know in fact from inside prison walls, inmates are trafficking drugs, out in the streets, ordering hits. they are certainly controlling gang activity. >> more than 8,000 cell phones were found in california prisons just this year. now, although president obama signed a bill this summer that made cell phones illegal in federal prisons, they are not illegal in our state prisons. they are just considered contraband. spiderman under arrest at lax. a german wildlife trafficker is in custody this morning on charges he smuggled hundreds, maybe thousands of tar ran tu las into the u.s. he is charged

with illegally sending them through the mail. authorities lured them into their web but setting up a sting. officers posing as collectors received packages containing hundreds of spiders and some are protected species. when he was busted at the airport on thursday, he reportedly had no spiders on him. he faces up to 20 years in prison and a quarter of a million dollar fine. coming up on "today in the bay," a whole lot more storm clouds are raining on santa jose's holiday parade. why this could be a wave good-bye for a beloved holiday tradition. celebrities give their last tweets and testaments for a cause. has anyone noticed they aren't mourning the loss? a lot of dark clouds. some of them with rain. more at times throughout the weekend. i will break it down for you coming right up. hey, guys !

good morning to you. take a live look at christmas in the park. downtown san jose all decked out for the holidays. the holiday parade is coming up tomorrow. to that, we say ba hum bug, because the bad economy is raining on the holiday parade this morning. despite the huge participation in all the memories attached to this. this could be the last san jose holiday parade. city leaders say she can't afford to keep hosting the parade. it takes three city employees to plan the three-hour parade. their salaries and benefits ond other costs add up to $300,000. mayor chuck read says that money could be better sent keeping community centers open and firefighters and police officers on the street. if this is, indeed, the last year of the parade, we will make

year-round. if you have a chance to get out there, check that out. great place. this is the radar. the rain is passing into the north end of the bay. extends from santa rosa up to ukiah and down 101. what we are looking for is light rains. where we see the darker shades of green, a little more rain coming through. that shade of yellow is a good, moderate downpour coming through. a small area. this is quick to pass on through. most has moved into the central valley. there is san francisco. that one camera shot we saw looking out across marin county and mount camel. oakland, you saw the haze up through berkeley and down the peninsula. some raindrops are reaching the ground, not a lot but down through redwood city as well. temperatures mainly in the 40s and a couple of 50s in the bay area. we are not going to warm up from here. most of us in the 50s. two storms on our hands. one right here. this is gig us some moisture

today. the second one will give us heavier rain as we go into sunday an monday morning. there goes storm number one up to the north. expect a couple of scattered showers early this morning and again tonight. after 9:00 p.m., the north end of the bay will get some, close to midnight and when it moves to san francisco and down the peninsula and tomorrow, rain on sunday and snow across the sierra at 5,000 feet. 4 to 6 inches. above 7,000 feet, a foot of snow. this is futurecast. notice, 8:00 a.m., plenty of cloud cover. here is your timeline. 10:00 a.m. not much going on close to home. we have by 3:00 p.m., a couple at the north end of the bay. 7:00 p.m., still very light. it is light shades of green. sometimes not reaching the ground. we will have light rain coming through at 10:00 p.m. in san francisco and the peninsula. 1:00 p.m., heavy at times. marin county and sonoma county, 1:00 in the morning. into the peninsula and also into pet ta loo ma, rather.

3:00 a.m., a couple of scattered showers. into sunday, 9:00 a.m. i will stop here. the san jose holiday parade, there is that window we were talking about. looks like we will be fine for that parade through 10:00. it is 2:00 we start to see scattered showers come back on in. there is a good line of rain until 6:00 p.m. on sunday. right now, sunday evening will be the hef whiavier rain. a couple of light scattered showers into monday, wednesday, thursday, friday, more showers coming through. around the rest of the state, plenty of 60s and 50s. not a real warm day. mostly into the 40s. snow at lake tahoe. if you are headed up there, bring your chains. tomorrow afternoon, rain and a few lingering showers on monday and wednesday, thursday, and friday, rabe rain coming in but a little warmer.

sunday without jim nedny. will they go without their kicker. the team signed veteran jeff reed. he expects to be the kicker for the remainder of the season. in the game against the bucks, he hurt his knee. after thinking he would be ready to go on sunday, the knee tightened up on him. not all of our injury updates are bad. across the bay, the raiders got one step closer to the return of chad shubin. the receiver practiced with the team yesterday, making it three in a row. they said it will be a game-time decision for sunday's game. the wideout has missed the entire season with foot and knee issues. the machine is back. that part is unconfirmed. pat bureau is returning next season to the giants. they signed him to a one-year contract. he claimed in a conference call he has never met the machine.

saturday morning. i'm kris sanchez along with "today in the bay" meteorologist, craig herrera. some rain later tonight after 9:00 p.m. more tomorrow. fog in the north end of the bay. i just checked. we have fog in santa rosa about a quarter of a mile where the temperature is 47 degrees. 50, san jose and 51, san francisco. a look at the satellite. two storms passing. one passes today. mostly this evening. most of the day will be dry. the one parked off the coast will give us more rain tomorrow and more snow across the sierra. not only today but tomorrow. highs into the 50s. i will break down the rain through the weekend. more rain wednesday, thursday, and friday through the end of the week. we will get ready for that as well. new this morning, senators on capitol hill are working this weekend and when they do could affect your wallet. on the agenda, two key votes, one aimed at extending tax cuts for individuals that make less

than $200,000 a year and mayor reed couples that make less than $250,000 a year. we are looking live at the debate on the floor right now. the other thing they are talking about is to increase taxes on people who make less than $1 million a year. republicans, they want to head off the tax increases at all income levels. it appears the democratic measure will not get the 60 votes needed to keep that alive. president obama says he is hopeful that the two parties can come to a compromise to avoid a tax increase at all levels come january 1st. meantime, just hours ago, air force one arrives back on u.s. soil following the president's surprise trip to afghanistan. when he returns shall the president is expected to make a statement about a new trade agreement with south korea. tomorrow, he and the first lady will host a reception at the white house for the kennedy center honorees, including oprah winfrey, sir paul mccartney, merle haggard, jerry herman and bill t. jones.

president obama traveled to afghan yesterday to thank the troops and spoke with president hamid karzai. the visit was his second to afghanistan as president. as he leaves afghanistan, more than 150 northn california soldiers are getting ready to deploy. the chico bay company of the california national guard will leave tomorrow morning at 8:00. the guardsmen will build combat outposts and roads and oversee the construction of new buildings. it appears that the efforts to repeal the don't ask, don't tell law is picking up support from the gop. the "l.a. times" reports scott brown, republican senator, says he will support the repeal, as long as it comes to the floor after tax cuts and the federal budget. the ma are tjority of senat republicans say they will block the bill until they settle bush tax cuts. it bars gay service men and women from serving openly in the

military. on monday shall a federal panel will hear arguments on california's same-sex marriage ban. the three-judge panel will meet in san francisco for two hours of arguments televised nationally on c-span. the ninth circuit court of appeals is viewing a lower court decision that rules prop 8 unconstitutional. it is likely the case will eventually wind up at the u.s. supreme court. coming up on "today in the bay," $6 billion just isn't enough. the big buyout that's turning out to be a big bust. bay area public schools are getting some lunch money from uncle sam.

after another bleak jobs' report, it is always nice to hear about companies making an economic rebound. bay area grocery chain in pueblo will open a store in a once-abandoned supermarket in san jose. the new store is bringing back more than 150 jobs to the city. this is the sixth "meet pueblo" supermarket. they are getting reimbursed 6 cents a lunch from the federal government. they passed a bill that regulates the quality of the food served and the government will reimburse schools $2.78 a meal. in san francisco, the cost is $3.68. san francisco's superintendent says the bill is a step in the right direction. healthy food helps keep kids excels in the classroom. this morning, it appears

looking live. we are talking about a state of alarm issued for spain this morning. air travelers, about 300,000 of them are stranded because of an air traffic controllers strike. the controllers that do not show up for work can now be sent to jail. the strike started yesterday. it stems from a year-long dispute over wages and it came before a long holiday weekend in spain with 4 million people expected to have made travel plans. the state of alarm is included in spain's constitution for more than 30 years. but, it has never been enforced until now. >> i was there last year. i would have been stuck there. >> worst place in the world to be stuck on vacation. >> no travel delays. no airport strandings here? we might see some wednesday, thursday, or friday. we do have scattered cloud cover and fog. there is a live shot of san francisco.

a couple of raindrops are making it to the ground. most of this is just cloud cover right now. most of the rain will be late tonight and again tomorrow evening. next shot, san francisco, look off toward oakland. a little bit of haze here up across the east bay inland valleys. across the hills, some haze and a little bit of fog. that's just a hazy shade that we have got for most of today and again tomorrow. south end of the bay across san jose and the santa clara valley, that's a downtown san jose for christmas in the park. a nice afternoon there. just bundle up. we are only going to be in the 50s today. that time of year, really cold. not a whole lot of sunshine coming through. a couple of sun breaks. mostly cloudy. a couple of raindrops on the radar. very impressive. most not reaching the ground just yet. a couple of raindrops in san francisco, very light. quick to move on through. keep the umbrella handy if you are out tonight. if you are going to the sierra, bring the chains. lake tahoe and reno, not a whole lot going on in lake tahoe.
