>> reporter: good morning to you, matt. last week, police approached a man named harold smith, bragging about the chasen murder. when they did approach him, he pulled out a gun and killed himself and now police say they believe that's the same gun that killed ronni chasen. two weeks after ronni chasen was gunned down in beverly hills, they followed this man. >> the weapon used in the suicide does preliminarily match the chasen homicide. >> reporter: smith was an ex-con down on his luck bragged to neighbors he killed ronni chasen. >> he bragged to my husband he killed the publicist and waiting to get $10,000 and waiting on money for the guy to pay him. >> reporter: neighbors tell the tv show "america's most wanted"" and passed the tip to police. when officers approached smith, he took out a gun and shot himself in the head.
