fillmore street. the boy was shot once in the stomach. he was involved in an argument with four other boys when one reached for a gun and shot him. his injury do not appear life-threatening. craigs list buyers beware. deals on big ticket items turned into robberies, some of them violent. christie smith has how those work. >> you heard the thing. if it's too good to be true, that's the case here. the scammers are offering incredible deals on high dollar cars. so far oakland police are saying they scammed about a half dozen people. mostly in north and east oakland. oakland police said first e-mails are exchanged about the car and a meeting is set up. usually in the afternoon or evening. it turns out there is no car. instead the victim is robbed and in two cases the victim was actually physically assaulted.

according to the tribune, these could be the same scammer who is used craigs list in april and started robbing people again this december. the last one drove in from lodi and he was rob and beaten here in oakland. oakland police are suggesting a few things to help you watch your back. don't bring big rolls of cash. the seconds did and if it seems suspicious accident go ahead and leave. especially if you don't see the car advertised if the first place. if you are robbed, give up what they are asking for. it's not worth your life. police and crime stoppers are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest. live in oakland, today in the bay. santa clara police officer

faces federal changes that he supplied confidential information to the hell's angels. he is a five-year deal that he supplied information to william betancou betancourt. he sent text messages contaping motor vehicle information to get an extension on repaying his debt. it's unknown how much he oh,ed. they carry a maximum 20-year sentence. there is a possible brick in the mauling of a san jose woman. they know who owns the pair of gray pit bulls that attacked the 41-year-old woman on december 20th. if they are right, animal control officers talked to the owner once about the dogs running loose. one is under quarantine. it was captured a day after the attack the the other remains on the loose.

a bill proposing to make rave parties illegal in california is on hold. had the bill become law, it would have banned rave parties like this at the cow palace. the bill's author, san francisco assembly woman is putting the bill on ice after hearing much outcry since it was introduced last week. she said she wants to collaborate with the industry insiders and local government. the bill proposed to ban any public event involving music and lasting more than 3 1/2 hours. >> per sacramento pilot who produced you tube videos questioning airport security will explain himself today. he was disciplined by the tsa for posting the videos. he was cleared to carry a gun in the cockpit of planes, but after he released the video, they confiscated he firearm. he took the you tube videos down when his manager asked him to.

he will talk to the press later today. >> with many counties in the hole, this seems like a case of government mismanagement. the fire chief in santa clara will retire and he will pull a $200,000 a year state pension. the county needs a new chief and they're planning on paying him $237,000 a year to fill in. that's $437,000 annually for a man who is supposed to be retired. he is a consultant and his work will be done within six months. they deny that he is double dipping. efforts to balance the state budget hit a snag. they cannot sell government buildings until courts rule on a suit that argues the sales are illegal. the members say selling the buildings amounts to the unlawful of gifting and illegally bypasses the judicious

good morning to you, bay area. you are taking a live picture of i-80 at truckee. more snow on the way for the sierra nevada through tonight and tomorrow. we had light scattered showers through the north bay right now. santa rosa, you are getting precipitation. seeing showers push towards the east bay and that will be the case in the next couple of hours. heavy rain expected to push through the area. particularly into this evening. the front is going to arrive after noon starting to create moderate showers in the north bay by about 5:00 over the course of 5 to 9. look at the line of showers. po believely dropping as much as two inches of rain keep that in

evening after they exchanged e-mails with the seller. in two cases, they were attacked. a man from lodi responded to an online ad. he was robbed and beaten. police say the scammers may have actually last struck in skprl went quiet and started up in december. the victims coming from places like sacramento, stockton and san jose. they had thousands stolen out from under them. offering this advice to people who are buying online. first don't meet in a is you cluded area or a residential area. you want to go to a more public place. don't carry large rolls of cash with you. find another way to make the transaction. if anything at all seems suspicious or you don't see the car that was advertised, go ahead and leave. if someone pulls a gun, give up what they are asking for. it's not worth your life.

police and crimestoppers are offering a reward for the information leading to an arrest. christie smith today in the bay. it is heart breaking news for the family and friends of a 40-year-old richmond woman. police identified the body found in the oakland hills as jill marie abbott. they think someone dumped abbott's body along a bike trail at skyline boulevard. abbott was found nude. the alameda county coroner conducted an autopsy and is yet to determine how she died. family and friends last heard from her wednesday night, but knew something was wrong when she didn't show up for christmas. she was a waitress. another woman's was found last week week, but they don't believe the cases are connected. >> antioch police are asking for help in the case of a local rapper. they issued an arrest warrant

for 18-year-old michael elijah. he goes by michael banks. police said he shot and killed arno arnold mcelroy on monday. he got into a green fort escort and moments later was shot in the head and pushed out of the car. >> good news for richmond. violent crime is down. from january to november, firearm assaults dropped 27% from the same period last year. city leaders say the change is prove there new approaches to fighting crime and they're working. new programs to engage the community. they have an arrangement to enforce a daytime curfew for teenagers. they hired police to reach full staffing this year. >> per president obama is on vacation this morning, but when he returns, he must select a new top economic adviser. that person will be charged with jump-starting the economy and

be a problem. approaches to the maze and the bay bridge toll plaza an easy drive including out of the caldecott. no major problems in the east shore. an 18-minute drive. a live look at the toll plaza shows an easy drive across the bay as well. the fog not so much of an issue. what's in store? >> we will switch over from foggy start yesterday to a rainy start this morning. we have scattered showers now and they are pushing south. san francisco saw a little bit of activity about 10 minutes ago and light scattered showers will dive south heading throughout the morning. the bulk of the moisture because we expect heavy periods of rain will start up around noon in the north bay. by 5:00 p.m. spreading to the entire bay area and 10:00 p.m., we are looking towards heavy rain. we could see localized flooding as a result. the whole thing will clear out as we head into 4:00 a.m. wednesday. behind the front, we have very

number and opens up new accounts and taps into health insurance or commits crimes in your name. you don't know a thing about it until the irs or the police or a lawyer or collection agency shows up at your door. we know that california has the fourth highest rate. only 6% were the tree identity theft. most were people using your existing accounts. that's actually a good thing for consumers. not that any theft is desirable, but more than 90% of those who were victims never see financial losses. they don't lose a dime as a result of this. the banks and the credit card companies don't hold you responsible for the expenses. true identity theft when people open up new accounts, that's a different ball game and takes years to correct. >> you don't want that to

become a pothole ribbon of concrete. an estimated 180,000 cars drive along interstate 680. today in the bay's marla tellez joining us live from danville to tell us more about repairs that are planned. they do need it. good morning to you. we are just below 680 off the exit in danville. the morning commute starting to pick up. the drivers behind me are dealing with this uncomfortable drive right now. this is long overdue. if you are one of the 180,000 people who drive this route almost every day, you know what i'm talking about. here's the gist. the caltrans project will rehabilitate and all in all it's about a 13-mile stretch. we drove around and shot video so you can get a sense of the damaged road.

at times, just the plain jars and bumping and uneven much of the way. the interstate was built in 1964 and caltrans officials say it should have been upgraded in the 1980s. we found a woman who drives the stretch even on a motorcycle and said this is about time. >> it's been too bad for too long. we take it because it's the freeway to get home, but it's not comfortable at all. not at all. dangerous on a motorcycle definitely. >> dangerous for anybody, really. if you are an east bay pooler, they will extend by a mile between alamo and walnut creek. they are slated to start in spring and most of the 50 million dollar project success paid for with state funds. no word yet when the project is supposed to be finished, but we can tell you that the majority of the construction will take
