the patchy dense fog will hit you over the course of the morning. very slow, but we found out why a disabled vehicle is in lanes. get on if you can where the slow suggest a lot clearer and it's heading through pittsburgh. slow through livermore. a typical build up and misty conditions. back to you. >> new this morning, an east bay neighborhood is a crime scene. police are trying to piece together the details of a deadly overnight shooting. christie smith is live in livermore with developing details from there. >> reporter: livermore police left the scene, but also left tape up at the home where this happened. they are working with the coroner this morning, still not sure what happened here. they are waiting for the coroner to fill them in. we know that two people were found dead inside the home. a family friend came over last night about 7:30 and the front door was wide open. this was a weekly routine visit

here in southwest livermore. inside, a horrible scene. an older couple, a man and woman shot. the victims were near each other, but have not been identified this morning. investigators taped off the neighborhood for hours. so far investigators tell us that they have uncovered a gun inside the home. no signs of a home invasion. they talked to neighbor who is didn't hear fighting or gunshots. there were valuables left out in the open in the home. it doesn't appear that this was any sort of robbery. at this point they say there were no signs of foul play and they are not looking for a suspect. they are treating these as suspicious deaths. live in livermore, today in the bay. >> thanks for the latest update from there. >> death threats sent to a bay area senator may be connected to the shooting of gabrielle giffords. a staffer for the senator said

he was questioned by arizona sheriffs detectives on monday. yee received death threats for criticizing sarah palin, but is not sure if there is a link between the two. yee's office was flooded with graphic voice mails when yee tried to uncover the details of palin's speaking engagement. they will not say if people behind the threats are linked to giffords. yee's office said the star and his office is in sacramento and san francisco will be given safety training. things are back to normal after a security breech at the security triggered a lockdown. a passenger went through a restricted area prompting screeners to evacuate the terminal. these are pictures from inside sent to us last night by of many passenger who is had to be restrewned the woman was cited for

>> good morning. behind me is the explosion site. hard it get a good look at it. the barricades that are upkeep people away from the area. at issue is the recent finding that pg&e had inaccurate records about the pipeline that exploded back on september 9th. the roars are used to set pressure limits in the company's natural gas pipelines. critics say incorrect documentation can lead to running pipelines above safe pressures. about 10 days ago, the national transportation safety board which is investigating the ultimate cause of the blast ordered pg&e to verify records they gave the company a february 1st deadline while officials said we need more time. at a meeting last night, they extended that deadline to march 15th, giving pg&e six more weeks. assemblyman jerry hill whose

district includes the explosion site where he expressed his outrage. essentially pointing the finger and blaming the president saying they are blaming the people and residents of san bruno. eight people died in the blast and 38 homes were destroyed. by the time they complete their records investigation, assuming it does so by the new march 15th deadline, more than six months will have passed since the deadly explosion rocked the neighborhood. live in san bruno this morning, marla tellez, today in the bay. >> thank you, marla. >> 6:09 and want to get the latest checking in with mike. you have a new accident to tell us about. >> it looks horrible, but it's just a disabled vehicle in the typical slow down. it made things a lot worse all the way back off of the antioch bridge and likely seeing a lot of fog coming out of rio vista. the disabled vehicle should be

moved off to the shoulder, but caused all the slowing. down below 10 miles per hour. that's an additional delay. if you can get on to the west, you should be okay. speeds made thingsa lot lighter. over towards interstate 80, the bridges coming from the north bay likely have gone through fog there. i marked it on the map coming through fairfield and vacaville. low visibility below a quarter mile. keep that in mind. the slow moving smoothly down the westbound 80 and down towards the bay bridge toll plaza. a 19-minute drive through berkeley and emeryville. the fog in effect from chp and keep that in mind as you cross the bridge this morning. we will take you further south and get sunol. a live look and you see how things are shaping up for 680 south of here. the tail lights are around the

bend. the low clouds hovering above the roadway. that may be an issue as you have your commute traveling to the area. it's friday and we will see a light volume today. >> let's hope so. >> i top the check the forecast with christina. >> good morning. it's a friday and we have great temperatures on tap for this weekend. we are seeing a pretty good clear sky for the most part. we have low clouds for the mist in the south bay. we are dealing with patchy dense fog up in the north bay. high pressure is building in compressing the moisture. the places that picked up the most rain, santa rosa and napa, down to about a quarter of a mile. some areas in the santa rosa area are actually seeing it 500 feet or less of visibility. you want to take it easy out there. good visibility for the south bay and along the peninsula so far. we are starting to see a problem here and we will keep watching that area for you. 54 degrees.

ipads the ceo said in the conference call with reporters and analysts that in 2011, everything gets better. good news for intel, but good news for silicon valley at large and the bay area. as we continue to exit the recession. >> all right. mark zuckerberg, founder of facebook is not feeling the evenings after shelling out billions and being named time magazine's man of the year. he now has new digs. the 26-year-old mogul is upgrading to a five-bedroom 3800 square foot home in palo alto's college terrace neighborhood. zuckerberg spends about 16 hours a day at home. he moved seven blocks for a place slightly larger and closer to facebook headquarters. if you are interested in the neighborhood, his old place is available for rent for just under $8,000 a month for rent.

boulevard east. only one lane is open because of the crew that's there. even though the person had to crawl out, keep it in mind on the on and off-ramps. a little slowing heading south on 880 through union city. no major issues about 50 even though it's 50 miles per hour. look at fog on the maps that. may be an issue as you cross over the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. we will show thaw there is a glow to the lights off of the peninsula side. 101 and 280 with patches of dense fog. at times over the course of the morning as well, we will watch that for you as well. we will track traffic down to the south bay. northbound 101 shows speeds with the 55 area. 87 also slow there. overall the northbound commute direction very light for this friday, especially before the three-day holiday weekend. slick roads persist over the santa cruz mountains

continue. if you are tired of shivering in your boots, you can enjoy a break. enjoy it. back to you. >> thank you very much. >> new this morning, east bay neighborhood is a scene of a crime scene this morning. investigators are at the scene in livermore. trying to piece together how a couple died. we want to check in with christie smith with the latest. >> good morning to you. police tape is still up in front of the home. livermore police may come back later this morning they are not exactly sure what happened here. two people were found dead inside the home by a family friend that routinely comes by. i spoke with a neighbor across the street and she said that friend has a key, but police say the friend found the door open and inside, an awful scene. a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds the victims are older. neighbors said there was a widow living here and she had recently

lost her husband and her grandson had moved in. an adult grandson. the widow lived here for about 40 years. at this point no one has been identified. investigators told me they discovered a gun in the house. there were no signs of foul play. neighbors say they didn't hear anything unusual. no fighting and no gunfire. it does not appear that robbery was involved because valuables were still inside the home and don't think it was a home invasion. they are treating it as two suspicious deaths. christie smith, today in the bay. >> 6:50 and it's friday. >> what could it mean? >> it could mean scott's gadget friday. >> before we get to the badge ets, have you seen the ads for christina loren? >> a couple of them. she must be a star. >> i was reading the "wall street journal" and the

electrician. it will save you money in the long run. >> you could put a picture of a puppy in there? >> you could put a puppy if you want to or go to her facebook and steal her picture. >> like i said a puppy. >> on a serious note, we need to talk about money and that is inflation. that has become a bit of an issue as we watch the numbers about the consumer price index. tracie potts has more on that. good morning >> reporter: concerns about inflation and things going up. a couple of new indicators this morning. let's talk about retail sales first. a great holiday season, the best in four years the labor department saying that retail sales went up for the sixth month in a row in december. it is up 13% over the recession low a couple of years ago because last month people bought cars and people bought furniture. also going up, your prices.

consumer prices went up according to the labor department. a lot of that having to do with gas. gasoline was the main driver the biggest jump in gas in a year and a half. taking a look at today, the outlook from the banker's association and tell us what their forecast is for 2011 and the economy and we also know that wholesale prices are up. in addition those that we saw last month, experts are saying when the people who buy the goods and services for you, when the prices go up, about six months later, you see the hit in your wallet as well. be on the look out for that. ben bernanke said despite that, we are expecting growth in the economy this year. 3% to 4% unfortunately it's probably not going to do a lot to help the job situation and not going to bring down the rate very much. >> thank you, tracie potts for the latest from d.c. >> you were probably asleep when they announced this year's new
