highway. that will make commuting easier for you. but it is still going to hang around throughout the atmosphere, probably until about 1:00 p.m. and finally breaking apart in the south bay. it may stay in the north bay all day long like we saw yesterday. high pressure is fully in control of the weather forecast today. what happens is it actually compresses a very moist layer of air. it will compress all the moisture. so that's why we have the fog at the surface this morning. heading through tomorrow, high pressure is not going to be as strong, so we are not expecting as much fog. and that will be good news for the morning commute. highs today end up in the low 60s once we end up in the sunshine side of things. 46 degrees in san mateo. i think some places along the peninsula stay socked in all day because it is so thick out there. 48 degrees in sunnyvale. 62 in los gatos. the good news is heading throughout the next few days we don't have a lot of change in terms of the weather pattern. we'll stay nice and dry, 66 by saturday with lots of sunshine. no rain in the forecast. we'll get back out there and water the plants on our own this

very good hands. >> reporter: that's right. well, they do have $50 billion in cash and investments. so they are definitely secure in terms of the products. we know how much influence they have on the marketplace. when the company announces its earnings later today, it is unlikely that the company will elaborate on the health condition of their ceo steve jobs. they announced yesterday he's taking this medical leave of absence. this would be his third one during his tenure here at apple. the company is expected to report the last quarter's jump in sales thanks to all the iphones and ipad that flew off the shelves in the holiday season. in the short-term, apple is expected to do well without jobs running the day-to-day operations. the apple iphone5 is already ready to go we are told. the long-term outlook is more of a question mark.
5:34 am
investors are concerned because jobs has not mentioned a return date from his leave as he has in the past. apparently his health has deteriorated over the past few weeks only showing up at the office once, twice, three times a week unable to keep his weight up and prone to colds and flus. he did take a leave in '04 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. g enin '09 for a liver transplant. what happens if he doesn't return or takes on a lesser role? well, right now coo tim cook is in charge taking over for jobs. the previous two times were considered a success. he's not the showman jobs is but a reliable steward on the company's day-to-day operations. could he be the kind of visionary that steve jobs is? remember apple products have not just changed consumer technology but arguably a large part of our culture as well. reporting live in cupertino, bob redell, "today in the bay."
