nob hill neighborhood. they found a 65-year-old man dead with signs of trauma on his body so. far police have not released any information about who could be blamed for his death. also honor the lives of the people who died of the protests in cairo. human rights watch reports that at least 300 people were killed when the protests turned violent. the san francisco rally has planned for 1:00. the crowd has already gathered at cairo's tahrir square this morning. they're cleaning out burned debris from the protests. as you can see, many protesters are vowing to stay put in the square until the military promises to push for greater democracy. that could mean dissolving the parliament or creating a new transitional government. police are searching for a man whose wife was found by a

maid in san francisco in a hotel room with her throat slashed. police found 51-year-old -- waterman's wife colleen was found dead at the ram ma da hotel on lumbar street. police first reported the couple missing on monday. though waterman is a person of interest in the death, he is not a suspect. police say they chased a car driven by a 45-year-old man from the country club crest neighborhood to the intersection of corcoran and cobb avenues yesterday afternoon. when they pulled the car over, the driver started firing at the officers. the man was regional jackson who jumped out of the car during the pursuit.

he was originally questioned by the police then they released him. however police now want to talk to him again about this place. this is the second deadly officer involve shooting since september. also this morning $50,000 in reward money to the person who can bring peace to a grieving family. that is the rebarred now attached to the killing of a young man who was killed by his would-be robber. why the reward now in this cold case that is still ongoing. >> i just don't like to see anybody going through the same thing that we're going through right now. because you can never get justice for that person. >> reporter: but it is possible to catch who killed his 19-year-old son ivan. the family is hoping a $50,000 reward will make someone come forward with information. >> i know for sure that vallejo is going through some trouble right now, the police force, so they're doing the best they can do.

>> reporter: november 4, 2009, police responded to a shooting at sixth and cherry sheets. when they got there, ivan was not multiple times in his car. police say he was trying to protect his girlfriend. she was not injured. police also believe robbery was the motive. >> my brother was a gang banger and a troublemaker, but from what i have gathered, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. >> reporter: the family cherishes the pictures they do have of ivan, they're having a tough time dealing with the loss. >> he liked to work, he liked to rap. he was just like any other 19-year-old kid. >> it would make me happy just to know that these people are going to be off the streets. and they're not going to hurt somebody else. >> reporter: in vallejo, sheryl herd on today in the bay.

>> if you have information that can help solve this case, you can call the vallejo police department. a teenaged girl is fighting to walk again, her family is fighting to bring the driver who hit her to justice. this is the latest sketch we have from san jose police. they say this is the man who hit 18-year-old erica luna last sunday morning. police say he was driving a newer silver or gray suv or mini van with a black roof rack when he hit erica and dragged her for nearly a third of a mile. that car may now have damage to the front bumper and the wheel well on the front left-hand side. the girl ask now at regional medical center with a crushed hit and a serious leg injury. medical marijuana clubs in the bay area's biggest city are getting a break from the law this morning. the mercury news is reporting a temporary halt on future raids of more than 100 clubs operating in san jose.

the stoppage will give santa clara county prosecutors time to figure out how to enforce california's marijuana laws. the city of san jose will begin taxing the dispensaries this month. a lot of folks are wondering how the county can pay for the new jail. the new 4.8 acre correctional facility should house about 750 inmates but has a $155 million price tag. according to a daily news source, san mateo county has more than $17 million on the site property alone. then the county could seek a bond funding for a portion of the remaining balance. this morning the family of a man gunned down by a b.a.r.t police officer is starting a foundation in his memory. the oscar grant foundation will kick off with a celebration today at 10:00 this morning at the east oakland youth development center.

another celebration is planned for 6:00 tonight at the eastern cultural arts center. oscar grant was killed by b.a.r.t police officer johannes mehserle on august 9, 2009. we have much more ahead on "today in the bay." the feds dropped some of the murder charges against the suspect in the arizona shooting spree. we'll tell you why. plus palin in 2012? we'll tell you a new article out that has the internet all abuzz.

good morning to you, staking a live look at tahrir square in cairo where it is a very peaceful demonstration -- it is

a new day of politics after weeks of protests that were at times violent in cairo. this scene is different from how it looked last night. it was jubilant as tens of thousands of people crowded into tahrir square celebrating hoe i end of hosni mubarak's regime. the country will now be ruled again by a military council. as more mubarak, he is now in the red sea resort of sharm el-sheik. the immediate campaign to get mubarak to step down began on social net working sites where people were able to organize on places like facebook and twitter. although the roots of course go much deeper than that. a plan was posted on facebook to protest liberation square when those protests first started.

the government detained him for weeks but released him unharmed this week. on his twitter account, his tweeting, please don't make me the face of this revolution. meantime we asked facebook about the role of social net working and what it played in the protests in egypt, some are going as far as calling the unrest in egypt a facebook revolution. certainly technology was a vital tool in their efforts, but we believe their bravery and determination is what mattered most. this morning soldiers from the bay area are gearing up for a tour of duty in afghanistan. today a farewell ceremony for the soldiers of the 352nd combat support hospital. the unit is made up of general medical personnel that will provide health service support for members of the u.s. army. they will head to washington state for more training before heading on to afghanistan.

the soldiers are on a one-year deployment. this morning victims of the deadly arizona shooting spree are waking up to news that the feeds are dropping two charges against the alleged gunman. prosecutors say the -- murders of a u.s. district court judge and a congressional aid. but prosecutors say they will be able to charge loughner again with those murders at a later date. only five of the shootings including the attempted assassination of congresswoman gabrielle giffords can be tried in federal court a pima county superior court jury will hold a trial for the other shootings when the federal case is over. tea party backed conservatives are pushing a $61 billion savings package that will go to the floor for a vote next week. programs on the chopping block including americorps and the corporation for public broadcasting, but the bill protecting spending on many

behind that shooting. this morning, strangulation concerns are prompting a recall of 2 million baby monitors. summer infants says the recall involves more than 40 different digital hand held and colored baby monitors. the baby monitors were sold between 2003 and 2011. summer infant is also recalling some summer infant secure video monitors that were sold exclusively at babies are us stores in 2009 and 2010. the rechargeable batteries on those monitors are prone to overheat and crack. oscar winning actress elizabeth taylor is fighting congestive heart failure this morning. the 73-year-old is being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure. the actress did veal that she

breeze pick back up, that will cool us off, but monday will be the main event, quite a few changes showing up in your saturday forecast. hard to find any clouds around the bay area, this is part of a system that will eventually cross the coast as we head into late tomorrow. so high pressure holding its ground for one more day today. that's the reason why at least the weekend is going to start off fairly warm. you'll notice a few more clouds tomorrow and things will start to cool down. the setup for monday, we're going to see the rain cranking up, the wind picking up out of the south from 20 to 45 miles an hour. a gusty start to your monday morning commute and we will see rain developing throughout the day and much cooler temperatures following that system arriving on monday. if you're heading out to the sierra, watch out for gusty winds. around the bay area today, if you're heading from san jose down toward pebble beach, you coil
