minutes. it's nice to be back. los angeles police are searching for the men who beat a giants fan unconscious at the season opener at dodger stadium. after talking with several witnesses, police believe that the two men who attacked brian stowe look like this. stowe is in critical but stable condition after that attack. stowe's friends just cannot believe that this happened. >> those who know the father of two tell me he is an avid giants fan, never misses a game, that's why he headed to l.a. for the season opener. but little did he know that going to a giants game could cost him his life. as a huge giants fan, brian stowe wearing his favorite team's gear went to the stadium for the giant's season opener. he was with three buddies and never thought anything would happen, but it did. >> you show up with three guys, big guys. >> you couldn't get away from

the harassment and it got to the parking lot and some guys came up behind him and just pummeled him to the ground. >> reporter: too upset to talk to the camera, stowe's brother said the game had just ended. stowe and his friends were leaving the parking lot of dodger's stadium when two men wearing dodgers attire went after stowe. >> they just proceeded to kick him in the head. >> reporter: the father of two who works as a paramedic in san jose, was rushed to a local hospital. he was put into a medically induced coma. >> i think it's terrible, you can't go to our nation's pastime, baseball and not worry about being jumped because you support your team. >> as this 2007 video on youtube shows, fights between giants fans and dodgers fans have happened before. in 2003, it even turned deadly when a joj dodgers fan shot and

killed a giants fan nothing a game at dodger stadium. now stowe is fighting for his life. >> he's got a family that's going to have to do without him maybe. >> reporter: show is in stable but critical condition. meanwhile, no arrests have been made. in santa cruz, elise cushner, "today in the bay." and that southwest flight that had to make an emergency landing because of what sounded like an explosion. stunned passengers say they were just ordering drinks when they heard a loud sound and then saw a gaping hole in the ceiling. they could see the sky. flight 812 lost pressure suddenly and then dropped some 25,000 feet. the boeing 737 was carrying more than 100 passengers from phoenix to sacramento friday afternoon when they were diverted to a military base. > >> tried to not think of the

woman screaming a couple rows back and just prayed that everything would be okay. >> not everyone was getting their mask on and some people were having problems and passing out. it was not good. >> a flight attendant suffered a minor injury was no passengers were injured. the ntsb is launching an investigation into the incident. more than one passenger reports that people passed out because they couldn't get oxygen fast enough. after the emergencyin landing, passengers were rebooked on to flights to sacramento. one aero naut ticks expert. >> it would be a big bang and it would have loud all of a sudden, of course a lot of rushing air, anything loose in the cabin, dirt, magazines, anything is going to fly toward that hole. >> he does add that this type of emergency doesn't happen very often.

in fact the last time he remembers anything like this was about 25 years ago. a street race turned deadly in santa clara. two men face manslaughter charges for the death of a woman who was just driving by the wrong place at the wrong time. the crash happened as the victim was pulling up to kiley boulevard after leaving her job in elcamino real. >> people here say it's never going to be the same. friday night inside moon light lanes, those who work here say it just feels different. >> it's definitely, you know something's missing. that empty feeling brought on by the death of a well liked employee. 23-year-old ashley creager. creager had just finished her shift at moonlight lanes and was

headed home. as her car got on to kiley boulevard from the bowling center's driveway, investigators say she got herself caught in the middle of a street race. one of the cars crashed into creager's honda and then smashed into a wooden fence. carlos gonzalez was the last person to say good night to ashley. >> i saw it over and over again in my head and just her leafing the building and just ten minutes later, everybody came running into the office, they let me know she was in a horrible accident. >> ashley was in the hospital suffering from major brain and heart injuries. she died this past sunday. >> ashley was a great person, always smiling, always happy, to see someone that young suffer that kind of fate is pretty saddening. >> prosecutors have charged these two men of vehicular manslaughter. they say both men were driving 70 miles an hour in a 35 zone. racing to get to this nearby chicken restaurant. >> it just didn't make sense.

likely gang related. the humane society is investigating the death of a dog after rumors it -- someone put liquor in the 15 yearly pug's water dish and then forced it to inhale marijuana at a party where the parents were not at home. investigators are awaiting results from a necropsy. the city is keeping busy and that can only mean one thing, more speeding tickets. the chp handed out 200,000 more citations in 2009 than they did in 2007. those tickets averaged about $250, so the tickets generated $200 million for the state and county coffers. chp officers say they were never instructed to write more tickets. but it is a sign that the state is desperate. >> the decision of how many

we'll talk with rob about that in just a few. testing the waters at uc berkeley, cal students are poised to vote next week on a campus wide bottled water ban. it all started with a man who wanted to end the sales of bottled water on campus. it turned into an issue on the ballot. if it passes the university would phase out the sale of bottled water and increase access to public water. >> i totally support this initiative because we need to protect our environment and it has been proven with several studies that these water bottles are destroying our environment so we need to be sure to make sure that we start a movement to protect our environment. >> a bottled water ban would contribute to the campus's goal of trimming waste by 75% by the year 2012. >> bullying over sexual orientation doesn't end with high school graduation and that

warm, but not quite as warm as we had the next couple of days. a local track and field star is vaulting into the history books at the age of 95 not only did he return the 100 meter dash at 20.14 seconds and he also complete competed in this, and even completed one meter in the pole-vault. if you missed him in action, you can catch him again tonight on tv, he is featured in a documentary called over 90 and loving it and that airs tonight at kteh. it's hard to read the story as i'm trying to watch him because i'm completely inspired. i don't think i could do the 100 meter dash in 14.4 seconds. >> that's impressive. today it will even be more impressive because it's going to be gusty at times, not as warm as the last few days, but still

a good start to the weekend. around san francisco, there you see the temperatures around most of the south bay right now, we're seeing some pretty comfortable numbers, what you may find a little uncomfortable later this afternoon, notice the wind speeds southwest at 15 in fairfield and a northwest wind at 3 miles per hour. right now you can see the clouds spilling over the bay area, not a whole lot in the area, did see a little bit of light rain in sonoma county, pretty good action where they're seeing the showers and a little blip there some of -- the main effect will be the gusty winds, turning a bit cooler, upper 60s to low 70s for highs today. as we head towards tomorrow, it will back off. up to 15 coat on the coast, watch on that. we should see those highs climbing into the mid 70s to

wrap up the weekend. you saw there on the radar, we have some light showers. snow left pretty high, up close to 8,000 feet for the afternoon. notice we're not picking up much in the way of showers or rain in the forecast even into the start of next week, then tuesday, increasing clouds. around the bay area today, wll see highs in the upper 60s to maybe some low 70s outside. so that will be a good drop of almost so to 20 degrees in terms of the temperatures, but what you will notice will be those gusty winds picking up this afternoon, from 15 to 30 miles an hour, locally higher on the coast, and i wouldn't rule out a stray shower or two maybe along the hill tops on the coast and around the bay area. tomorrow we'll see a lishlt less wind. not a bad weekend, a little

the ocean. latest crack at the damaged nuclear power plant in fukushima is getting it on while contamination seeps into the underground water ways. nuclear safety spokesmen says that they will continue checking the ocean waters near the reactors, and nine miles away for radiation. an oakland woman kidnapped and trapped in the trunk of her car owes her life to be able to think quickly and k4r50er8. she was tricked into meeting an ex-boyfriend last thursday. she told police that he assaulted her and threw her in the trunk of her own car and then said he was heading to mexico where he was planning to kill her.
