good saturday morning to you folks, taking a live look at the bay bridge, lots of clouds there, but we don't have to worry about too much rain until later in the weekend. except if you're far north. i'm kris sanchez, let's get your morning started with that forecast from rob. >> saturday morning not starting off too bad, though you'll notice that we still have the jet stream close enough to the bay area that it will toss a chance of a few showers well off to the north. we will see a few extra clouds and some cooler temperatures and an increasing chance of seeing some rain for the weekend. 40s and 50s outside, lunchtime temperatures mainly in the upper 50s and 60s. low to mid 70s heading down

towards morgan hills. coming up we'll talk about those increasing chances of rain as we roll into tomorrow's forecast. the next few days are critical for the 42-year-old giants fan brutally beaten a few weeks ago. doctors are no longer giving brian stow drugs to keep him unconscious, but so far he is not awakening from his comb machlt while his family say they are optimistic, they're also realistic about what could be a long recovery for him. >> from what i understand, they removed part of the skull on the left side and that would be back here. >> kaiser permanent today shows a brain model and tells us what brian stow might be going through right now. early friday, doctors in los angeles started the process of taking him out of a medically induced coma. >> this may be a sign that the

doctors feel this is the right time to reduce the medications and probably they feel that way because the brain pressure is no longer an issue and he's entering into the recovery phase. >> reporter: stow was beaten outside of the dodger stadium on opening day. he suffered a skull fracture during the attack. >> we typically aim at making the patient comfortable during that period. >> the chief of neuroscience has treated many patients who have gone through the same process as stow and he has seen many outcomes. >> during the next 48 to 96 hours we see no improvement and he stays in a comatose state. the best-case scenario that that

he will start waking up. >> reporter: his cousin john stow spoke to us at a fund-raiser at the speak easy in san francisco. >> it's nice to see that he's progressed far enough and they're willing to try and see if he will wake up, but he still had a lot of work ahead of him. >> his family will be with him every step of the way. >> it's just amazing to see how the communities are rallying behind brian. >> there's no reason for pessimism and there's certainly reason for optimism based on the fact that they're now feeling comfortable with reducing the medications. >> this morning we do have new sketches stow's attackers as well as new information about a possible getaway car. the first is described as a stocky 22 to 26-year-old man. police say he has a mustache, aa goatee and a mole on his cheek. the second suspect is 6'1",

either white or latino with short hair and hazel eyes and he may have tattoos on his shoulder. witnesses also describe a young latino woman as maybe driving that getaway car, a white newer model mitsubishi or accuare, the woman is about 20 years old, 5'2" pulled back in a pony tail. >> two men are in jail this morning accused of a hate crime. they allegedly beat a trance gendered woman at a bus stop. here's a report from san francisco with more on how the suspects were caught and how the community is responding to this attack. >> when i was laying on the ground bleeding, crying and shaking, i knew it was over, i was like this is how a transwoman dies, we die alone, we die brutally. >> on april 1, she didn't think

she would survive an attack by two men in san francisco's mission district. an attack she says was motivated by hate. >> they said things before the attack and they said things during the attack and i heard from other people that they said things after the attack and all of them were definitely hateful remarks. >> returni this is my neighborhood and eventually i'm going to have to walk by there. and i think that that's why we're here today is to reclaim this space as a space that's accessible for everyone. >> reporter: the attack happened around 10:00 on a busy friday night, but no one tried to help the 20-year-old, calling for an end to all violence. other transgender women shared stories of being harassed and assaulted in san francisco, promising not to hide or to live in fear but to stand together

fighting for safety. police arrested two san francisco men for the assault. but she says she hears hateful words every day and she hopes people will stand with her against anyone else who needs help. >> when people are making remarks and harassing people to get in the way and be a buffer for that person who's vulnerable in that situation. >> this morning the fbi is investigating a suspicious letter sent to google headquarters in mountain view. so far agents are tight lipped about the investigation and won't say what was in that letter. but processing workers flagged the letter as suspicious and called law enforcement. right now no comment from google. the state senator says that his office received a racist fax this week t second such threat since january. ye says the letter contained a racist cartoon.

the spokesman says the california highway patrol and sergeant at arms in the state legislature are investigates. ye got the other threatening fax in january after he spoke out about rush limbaugh. a family vacation has turned into tragedy in palo alto. a cal train struck a car at a busy intersection killing the female driver but somehow her husband managed to flee the car just in the nick of time. inside that car, a cup until their 60s who were visiting from indiana. we were there when crews pulled the mangled car off the tracks. witnesses say that car was stopped on the tracks because the traffic in the area was backed up. cal train suspended service in both directions for about three hours, but trains are running normally this morning. one angry muni driver is out of a job this morning after losing his cool.

we have video this morning from inside the bus that helps paint the picture of this confrontation. you could hear it in the audio there and this is actually different video from a different story. but the story on the muni bus happened on the 24 line this weekend. the driver apparently lost his cool with a father after he boarded the bus with a stroller. the mdriver started screaming until the man got off the bus. muni promptly fired the driver. now back to the video that we're looking at here. this is a story that may make you scratch your head, grab the weave and leave four thieves. all of it caught on video. this is a surveillance video of four people breaking through the glass doors at hair divas, they go right past the flat screens and the cash register and go right for the most expensive thing they can find, the weaves. police say they made off with

tens of thousands of dollars worth of wigs and hair extensions made with human hair. those hair hooligans made off through the door. beware of anyone trying to sell you hair not in a formal store. still to come, a south bay teenager run down by a car remains in a coma this morning, the driver who hit her is still at large andikyel waited by the

difficult time for you to have your daughter in the hospital and sit there and not know what's going to happen next. what is her prognosis at this point? >> well with tbi which is traumatic brain injury, you don't really know, you wait for the signs, you wait for the brain to heal. you wait for it to rewire its paths that are happening. doctor also never give you a prognosis on tbi. >> sometimes you can find comfort in the fact that there will be justice. but you don't know if there will be justice for her? >> justice is something they don't have any control over except for my power of loving her and taking care of her and her father and all the people

that have been so absolutely amazing to her. >> but to get justice for her. >> he ran her over, and he left. >> right. >> and you think that whoever did this knew what happened? it wasn't -- >> oh, yeah. you don't just hit a person and drive off and what did you think it was, a duck, at, you know, midnight? >> you know, obviously this person is at large. they might still be driving around. what do you want to say to that person? what do you want to say to the people who know that person. how pathetic they are, that it was not purposeful. to hit her. that they need to come forward just to make their life better. >> right. >> i don't see how they would ever walk around and have a good life ever without coming forward. >> you know, a lot of these hit and run crimes go unsolved, unless somebody comes forward. it's going to be tough to find a

some interesting weather, not too far away from the rest of the bay area, on the fringe of a weather system that's heading our way. the best chance of seeing some rain, will be mainly off to the north as we head through the afternoon. eventually we'll see the rain on the increase. as we head through the weekend, about sunday afternoon, things are looking dry, a few scattered showers for this afternoon. moving into the bay area, as it dips into the south, expect some widespread showers. as you get the workweek started, most of the week is looking pretty good. in terms of the rainfall, as we go hour by hour, you can see a chance of some scattered as you go mainly off to the north. this is going to be the opportunity to get some rain. we should start to get some

clearing by monday afternoon, and drier weather as we head towards the middle part of the week. in terms of accumulation, if we do see something in the north bay, at least for the onset, here you go, monday, things should start to add up as that system works its way through the workweek. not to bad, upper 60s and low 70s along san jose southward. it's really going to be a tale of two cities. you'll see a cooldown of the temperatures and an increasing chance as you see a few of those rain drops and our future cast showing up over the north bay, giving us a chance of widely scattered showers to the north. we'll see increasing chances. of rain on monday. mild and clearing as we head through the middle part of the week. >> there's some very hairy individuals in need of a hair cut this morning and scissors just won't do the job. today in the bay's bob rid deyds

week of how the giants fan attacked at giants stadium is doing. doctors at an l.a. hospital are slowly reducing his level of sedation and bringing him out of his medically induced coma. he will undergo more testing today so doctors can evaluate the extend of his head trauma. doctors here in the bay tell us that if all can well show all is well. >> the worst case would be over the next 48 to 96 hours we see no improvement in his neurologic function and he stays in a comatose state. the best case is that he wakes up and shows signs of consciousness. >> the outpouring of support continues for stow. the hit-and-run driver who caused a young girl's injuries

remains at large and likely behind the wheel. we spoke with her mother just a couple of minutes ago, and she along with the rest of her loved ones held a fund-raiser for 15-year-old shea shaw. a driver hit the los angeles student as she was walking near camden and bas come avenues in san jose. it was around 1:00 in the morning. a public memorial will be held today for the fremont swim coach who died this week. a memorial for 48-year-old joe martinez will be held in san jose. the water polo and swim coach collapsed monday at his san jose home. he died at the hospital. his father says he suffered from blood clots. a facebook page has been created in his honor. it's called joseph martinez was my friend/water polo/swim coach. this morning two dangerous pit bulls are on the loose after

attacking a dog and it's owner at a san jose park. we have to warn you that some of the next photos are disturbing. the dog shadow had to be put down because his injuries were so severe. his owner had to be hospitalized because of injuries all over her body. the attack went on for more than 20 minutes before the pit bulls fled. animal control said they plan to search the neighborhood for pit bulls throughout that area for the next couple of weeks. the foreclosure crisis is far from over in california and left in its wake many neighborhoods abandoned and miles of trash where people used to live. one in every 80 housing units is in foreclosure. bankruptcy notices are up as well. thousands of those homes are in the east bay. nbc bay area is in richmond where the problem isn't just

weather with rob. >> good morning to you, here now a full look at your weekend forecast. notice we do have some interesting weather, not too far away from the rest of the bay area this morning. you can see here the outer fringe of a weather system that will drop some clouds our way as we head through the afternoon. but the best chance of seeing some rain will be mainly off to the north of sonoma county. but we'll see the best chances of rain tomorrow. as we head through the weekend, at least until about sunday afternoon, things are looking dry. a few scattered showers around the north bay this afternoon, then sunday into monday. this is where we're going to see the best chance of rain for the bay area. expect some widespread showers, actually for your monday morning commute. along with some cooler temperatures, 50s and 60s as you get the workweek started, but at least most of the weekend is looking pretty good if not somewhat mild in terms of the temperatures. now in terms of the rainfall, as we go hour by hour, you see a chance of some scattered showers mainly off to the north as we get things started.
