of the great fire and earthquake. we look where the commemoration got started a few minutes ago. we'll bring it to you live. sirens will sound at 5:12. it's the exact time the quake hit. it comes at a time when large quakes are rocking the world today. the 9.0 quake that rocked japan a month ago. it's a good time to remind ourselves how to prepare for the worst. >> reporter: images of the earthquake are distant memories. the 105-year-old is one of three survivo survivors. >> we had several earthquakes. i think people should remember what happened to san francisco. it might happen again. >> reporter: he will be among those marking the anniversary at

the fountain. a crucial point for the survivors after the quake. it killed 3,000 people and left much of san francisco destroyed by fire. in japantown, those attending the cherry blossom festival had their minds on victims thousands of miles away. the images in japan remind san francisco of the past and future. the probability of another quake hitting the bay area in six years is greater than 60%. >> very few people are prepared for diz astzer. have food and water for 72 hours at a minimum. >> the american red cross says it is worth repeating. first, make a plan. know who you would call and where you would meet. make sure everyone in your family has that information,

including children. second, build a kit. it should include first aid supplies, food and water. be prepared. review your plan and get training in cpr and first aid. >> preparedness and a plan doesn't cost money. it's easy to spend money and spend a kit. really, it's the thought that is important. thinking about the plan, communicating the plan. there's a website called 72hours.org. it has what to do during a quake. read it ahead of time. a popular dog park is closed today. a woman took her dog to the park saturday. within minutes, the dog became very ill. she took the pup to the vet and within an hour the dog was dead. animal control officers

investigating the incident. they are trying to figure out what killed that dog. president barack obama is due back in the bay area on wednesday for an online town hall meeting at facebook headquarters. he plans to raise some money while he's here. he will focus on the plan for reducing the deficit. larry says it could reveal more about what the prosecute's ability -- what ability he has to harm a social media. >> the president is tapping into social media better than anybody else has to date. he mastered it in 2008. he's well on the way to doing every bit as much in 2012. >> the president has more than 19 million likes orphans on facebook. it's four times as many as the republican challenger, sarah palin, mitt romney, mike huckabee. that is combined.

a customer recovering after being shot in an east bay parking center. it happened saturday night in san leandro. the man just finished dinner. he was walking to his car when he got into an argument with somebody in the parking lot. the person took out a gun and shot him several times. the search is on in concord for a pistol whipping mugger. the man knocked on a door around 3:00 saturday afternoon. the mugger talked with the man then hit him on the head with a gun and stole the man's necklace. he fled in a silver bmw suv. did pg&e's lousy recordkeeping contribute to the explosion? they want to find out when they meet today. cpuc trying to find out if their

recordkeeping violated law and hurt the safety of gas pipelines. utility could be fined more than $400 million is found guilty. the company was fined $3 million last month for failing to turn over all its records about the pipelines. pg&e is providing emergency responders with more detailed maps. the new information including the size, age and pressure of pipelines. the utility is releasing that data after complaints it maps they provided were insufficient. they have plans to digitize the maps so they can be seen with a computer. reservations and permits at yosemite are such hot commodities ticket scalpers are coming in. scalpers are selling tickets on

internet sites like craigslist. they are issued by the park for free. park leaders are working to shut down the scalpers. let's check in with christina and a beginning of the workweek forecast. good morning. >> good morning, what a gorgeous weekend we had. we are starting out with showers, overcast conditions for the day. a lot of this is going to move out of the area for the second day. showers pushing through the east bay getting a little bit of precipitation. this is what we are expecting by 2:00. mostly clear bay area. a couple lingering clear cells. after that, clearing. then we'll have a nice day tomorrow. temperatures climbing toward 70 degrees. more rain on the way in the middle of the week. we'll break it down for you. these are the temperatures for today. 61 degrees in oakland.

saudi arabia cut oil out buck. crude is pulling back a little bit today. we are below the 109 a buck a barrel mark. we get a bunch of data out this week on housing and unemployment. the earnings marches on with dow reporting and a fifth of the s&p 500 reporting. we hear from citigroup at the top of the hour. the dow rose to 12,341, nasdaq inched up four to 2764. speaking of gas prices, they are averaging four bucks a gallon. aaa says new york is the latest to top that mark, joining alaska. you over there in california, connecticut and illinois. michigan could be next with $3.95 a gallon followed by indiana, nevada and wisconsin. aaa says the national average is
