headed to the 70s. we have the full forecast on the way. mike has been busy this morning. what's going on out there. >> problems on the map system. a sig-alert at 41 registering at portola avenue. another incident to the right is off northbound 680 off the dublin interchange. watch for that off the interchange. 880 shows a smooth flow of traffic. construction crews picked up their work. back to you. thanks, mike. the effort to save cal train could pay off. they were due to cut service and trains. it might not happen now. marla tellez is live in palo alto at one of the stations there. it could benefit from the change. >> reporter: good morning, brent. this is the california avenue station in palo alto. now, it is one of nine stations slated to lose the weekend

service. cal train board members are hinting that idea may not happen anymore. it all comes down to money. as it stands now, the train is planning to cut ten of the 86 trains, slowdown and shutdown three stations and cut weekend service at nine stations all because of a $30 million deficit. as recently as last night, board members say this dire plan could be averted for at least a year. now funds typically used for transit maintenance are earmarked for construction projects could be the saving grace. the plan involves barring capital money. this would help keep the 42,000 people who rely on cal train every day happier, especially those who use the hayward park station in san mateo, the

station in san jose and the bay bridge for the brisbane-san francisco line. they are all slated to close. keep in mind, the plan to increase one-way fares by 25 cents and parking by $1 a day would still likely take effect in july. if you are a concerned commuter, the train holds town hall meetings to get public feedback. the next one is scheduled for tomorrow night in redwood city at the city hall at 6:00. the cal train board is going to vote on the plan to stop the drastic cuts from happening on thursday. brent. >> good news there. san francisco police are looking for suspects in two groping incidents. it happened friday night near uc san francisco. a university employee was walking to her car when a man approached her and groped her. she fought off the attacker and

road away. a few blocks away at carl street, a woman fight off an attacker. the incidents are unrelated and no arrests have been made. san francisco police are searching for two men accused of kidnapping and assaulting a 22-year-old woman. that attack happened sunday afternoon at the intersection of 18th and lexington street in the mission district. two men forcibly pulled a woman in the car and drove off to the coast. the men tried to rape her. she was able to escape and called 911. they drove a green toyota tundra truck. we have a killing in san jose. police have a suspect they are looking for. mario jesus hernandez is armed and dangerous. he shot and killed a 25-year-old man in a home on south capital avenue on sunday morning. it is the city's 14th om side of

the year. the motive is under investigation. the native americans protesting the development of a burial ground do not have to leave. bob redell is live at the glen cove waterfront park with the latest developments. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, laura. men and women started camping out at the waterfront park in vallejo. this started late last week to protest the city's plan to develop this historic sight with a parking lot, restrooms and trails. this was until a federal mediator stepped in yesterday around 6:00 last night. the city agreed to let the people stay. the next step the native americans would like to begin negotiating with the city to halt the proposed project. they argue it is sacred ground, their church, if you will

starting 3500 years ago, several california tribes used this sight as a village and burial sight. many remains are buried here. the protesters are confident they can convince the city to change their minds since they feel they have the backing of the people who live around here. >> you know, the local residents here have, you know, watched us for days as we have been out here praying. they understand we are not out here camping. they have seen us painting over the graffiti. they have seen us cleaning up the beaches for days. they have seen how important this land is to us and as they have seen that, they have come to understand that, you know, this isn't a trivial issue to us. >> reporter: development of the glen cove waterfront park is supposed to start soon and be finished by the end of summer. a state law requires the city to

protect the native american remains here, the history, if you will. the protesters tell us they don't see how that would be possible. reporting live, bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you, bob. the grapevines in sonoma county are well. county leaders are about to raise fees. they may increase fees on veterans buildings, planning permits and some parks by 80%. the proposed hikes are meant to address a projected $42 million short fall. supervisors plan to vote on the hike soon. the top leaders will take pay raises. despite the $306 million deficit, the civil commission has decided to raise salaries. the mayor will see an almost $5,000 raise next fiscal year.

the supervisors will get $2,000 additional. city and district attorneys will get $4,000 more. there's raises for the assessor, recorder and sheriff. bryan stow, the giants fan attacked at dodgers stadium. he is showing some signs of brain activity. stow will be in a medically induced coma for at least another week. they tried to bring him out but he suffered siezures. doctors will try once again to remove him from sedation. university canceled all the afternoon and night classes yesterday because of a power outage. power is restored and the downtown campus was not affected by the outage. a girl not allowed to join the local boys basketball team may soon get her way. the parks and recreation commission will meet to talk about plans to allow up to two girls on any of the boys youth

welcome back everyone. san francisco is trying to make it easier for commuters to locate and pay for meters parking spaces. the city's transportation agency is launching a new program where drivers use their cell phones to define open spaces. drivers with an account can pay for a meter and get a text message before the meter expires. the program is being tested in select neighborhoods for two years. a bay area semiconductor company is growing this morning. they are expanding and will have a grand reopening ceremony this afternoon. that means 40 new full time jobs. today in the bay's nicole is live at cnbc with all the news before the bell. who knows what's going to happen when the bell opens for traders.

so far, driving is okay. you can see at the golden gate bridge. over to you, brent. >> thanks. several aviation air traffic trollers have been suspended, this time for watching a movie on the job. they were watching a dvd early sunday morning as he monitored the landing of incoming aircraft. the faa says the controller left the microphone on and the sound of the movie was transmitted over the radio. it follows at least five cases of controllers falling asleep on duty this month. a research facility is under investigation for the mistreatment of animals. they found a dozen sick and injured goats at santa cruz biotechnology. they have been under scrutiny for years. back in 2005 it was fine for research procedures.

last year, they found 230 sick animals at the center. they could be fined up to $10,000 per violation. arnold schwarzenegger is going to be at the white house as president obama hosts an immigration reform today. he says he's going to meet with a wide group of people from across the political spectrum. they are going to fix the nation's broken immigration system. advocates criticized the president saying he has done almost nothing about immigration since the failure of the dream act bill. everybody is trying to copy the apple ipad these days. did one company go too far? scott mcgrew has a side-by-side compareson. >> let's go to the video and show the injury at home. apple is suing samsung saying the tab on the left is too similar to the apple ipad seen there on the right.

brown declared a state of emergency in 19 counties including contra costa. it means thousands of dollars will come to those affected by the storm. paperwork needs to be filed. a lot needs to be done. for people in the homes in limbo, the whole process isn't moving fast enough. reporting live, christy smith, today in the bay. >> thanks. a vallejo counselor faces charges. 43-year-old peter small is accused of molesting a child who attended the corner stone program on the middle school campus. that program is run by the mental health department. he was arrested at his home in albany after a month long investigation. police are asking anybody else with information about the case to come forward. some south bay dog owners could learn what happened to their dog today. it suddenly died after visiting

a dog park. this morning the dog park is still closed. the owner of the dog took her pet to the vet after he started vomiting at the park this weekend. on the way there, his condition got worse and the dog died. they are trying to determine the cause of death. animal control officials think it was probably not poison because of how quickly the dog got sick. native americans are rallying protesting the development of a parking lot on what they say is say credit land. bob redell is live with the latest there. >> reporter: protesting the future development, proposed development of a parking lot, restaurants and trails at the glen cove waterfront park, which is a sacred burial ground. men and woman who started protesting thursday, friday, holding vigil here praying that the city won't come here and

develop. the fact they are here this morning is a victory of sorts. the city had to threaten them for violating camping and campfire permits. yesterday, a federal mediator stepped in and set up a negotiation for both sides to agree to let them stay here in the meantime. the next step for these people, they say, is to try to set up some sort of negotiations to get the city to halt the project. they argue this sight has 3500 years of native american history. several california tribes used this sight over that time as a village and a sacred burial ground, many remains buried here. the law requires when the city comes in to build on the sight, they must protect the native american history here. >> it is city-owned land. is there any way the city could

looking. >> reporter: let's start with the concerning news. the credit agency saying they are downgraded america's debt from stable to negative. that means that if we can't get the budget problems and the debt problems together possibly in the next two years they could downgrade the aaa credit rating. it could be disastrous for the economy. they say fewer jobs. the white house calls this a valuable reminder that we need to come to some sort of agreement. that's one reason president obama is out today. starting a series of town halls here in the metro area talking about reducing the deficit. he's also asking congress to raise the debt limit to borrow money. not sitting well with lawmakers on the hill. how does this hit your wallet? gas prices. we are seeing them go up. there's been a dip in the

next time they go out on the job. they are giving the canine unit custom made bullet proof jackets for the dogs. that move comes after a police dog was shot in the shoulder by a burglary suspect. the bay area has some of the best food in the world. now, a british restaurant magazine is out with the list this year of the best restaurants in the world. a couple bay area spots made the cut. try to make a reservation at the french laundry, manresa took a spot at number 69 and coi in san francisco slipped in at 75. they poll more than 800 chefs, restaurants, journalists and food experts to come up with the rankings.

discovered phase when no symptoms are evident but changes are going on in the brain. the changes help them better understand how to treat the disease. the suit against taco bell asking where's the beef is no more. the lawsuit filed here in california alleged that what taco bell calls seasoned beef is a meat mixture with binders and extenders. the firm that filed the suit said it dropped the case. mcdonald's is looking for a few good men and women. we are talking fast food. thousands of good men and women. it's their golden arches national hiring day. they have 50,000 jobs to fill across the country. 2,000 of them in the bay area.
