jerry brown will present his budget will income tax revenue. it will likely have a $14 billion hole. here is where we stand. the deficit was $26.4 billion in january. in march, the legislature made $8 billion in cuts effective july 1. the governor is asking a five-year extension on the vehicle taxes we pay now. also in play, $2.5 billion in unexpected income tax revenue. they want to balance the budget through cuts alone. others are looking for additional funding including a 1% tax income hike. that would generate $2.3 billion a year. republicans are not waivering on the no taxes stance. >> it continues on if the republicans want to be the no,

no, no party on all taxes or give in on this one in change for others. it's going to take the same two-thirds margin. when you want to raise taxes, that's what you need. the democrats are short two votes in the assembly and the senate. >> reporter: it would allow local governments the power to raise sales tax and vehicle license fees. that could raise

dominique strauss-kahn is accused of sexually assaulting a maid. a 32-year-old housekeeper says the 62-year-old strauss-kahn
