the distance, what does that mean for your plans? well, we'll find out. i'm kris sanchez along with rob. >> it's going to be a little on the cool side. some mist earlier around oakland and around san jose, we got sunshine. 52 degrees, quiet right now. of course we had a great win with the sharks last night. we got prince tonight. let's show you the numbers this morning, 40s and 50s outside, it is breezy out there, the sea breeze is going to keep our temperatures somewhat on the cool side today as you go hour by hour, at least to the tri-valley and inland. we're also going to have to watch some mountain showers, maybe some thundershowers out towards the sierra. so we'll walking you through a pretty interesting forecast. also new this morning, oakland police are working to get to the bottom of a deadly shooting in which one person was killed. it happened just before midnight

on 90th avenue near b street. police are still investigating and are not quite yet releasing very many details. and a family is mourning the death of a man who died in an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon. robbe officers found the man shot on east 16th street around 4:00. witnesses say they saw four young men approach the victim, shoot him and flee. anyone with information is asked to call oakland police. police officers are working without their glock pistols because of a mechanical problem. the problems surfaced during training. at least one officer had a problem with his glock 4 on duty as well. the chief says none of the malfunctions happened during an emergency situation. officers will use their old guns while the glock are being repaired.

there was a stabbing on a muni bus. witnesses say there was a fight amongst a group of teenagers. the victim who's in his 30s was stabbed several times, he is now at san francisco general hospital. police say they detained several people, however, no arrests have it,t. now to the story a lot of folkse6a; herdú.m$y, rapture, jó family radio says that today is it, whether you believe it or not. on and that's when summers astounded his medical team by standing on his own and using his legs. wow. the city of san jose is trying to raise awareness about a developmental disorder that affects so many young children. it is hosting the autism speaks walk this morning at the city's kelly park. more than 6,000 people including families with autistic churn will attend this event. there will be workshops set up to provide information on therapists and activities for the children. one in every 110 children is diagnosed with the disorder. last year's event attracted 5,000 walkers and raised more than $325,000. again it's at san jose's city park. a fund-raiser to help military families stationed at nearby travis air force base hopes to raise more than $10,000

yourself. and now let's check with rob who's finding his bliss in the weather department. >> gorgeous pictures, you saw the moon there and the sculpture around treasure island. we're starting to see blue skies around oakland right now, 53 degrees, southwest wind at 15 miles an hour, we'll see an all st day sea breeze that will lead to cooler temperatures. it's the ocean air conditioning we'll be seeing throughout the day today with some partly cloudy skies for the afternoon. shark tank quiet for now. the big prince concert taking place this evening. north bay valleys a little bit cooler, some mid 40s this morning, so no matter where you are around the bay area, definitely some jacket weather for your morning and then for your afternoon, i think a long sleeved shirt will be fine, even with the winds running around 30 miles an hour. during the day look out for some isolated showers in the north

bay. we have a mainly dry trough zipping about in the bay area, this is why the wind will pick up in the afternoon. with the instability with it, we may see a stray shower. and a good bit of thunder and showers across the sierras, we're not seeing lately low snow levels, but we're seeing rapidly changing conditions. even out to yosemite, we could see a few of these isolated showers. > back to the bay area, you can see as we go hour by hour for the afternoon, notice the little returns there showing up just around the banner there. hill top showers, otherwise cool and breezy conditions, sunday we'll see a strong sea breeze which may bring some coastal dryness. that will carry us all the way

the south bay school district is fighting budget cuts by looking into the heavens. the district is using solar energy to try to save dozens of teacher jobs. here's more on the story from piedmont hills high school. >> reporter: these solar panels are generating energy and money for the east side union high school district in san jose.

>> you're doing something good for the environment. second wind is you're doing something good for the budget which is actually something good for the students because you're saving millions of dollars over time that can go into classroom instruction. >> reporter: chevron partnered with the schools to provide solar panels. the solar project is expected to save the district $2 million in energy costs, enough to save the jobs of about 30 teachers. the district expects to save $43 million in energy costs during the life of the project. >> the money will be used for other things as well, it's going to into general fund. >> reporter: teacher also also use the solar panels as a teachable moment, beefing up the state science curriculum to learn more about green technology.

>> we're greating energy here at our own school, i think that will stir up passion for students who wouldn't be interested in green energy. having the solar panels here is an interesting way for us to see how it affects us. >> reporter: the solar panels are expected to cut the amount of electricity the district uses each year by more than 55%. now many other schools are considering similar projects, going green to raise some green for the classroom. at&t is in the middle of a class action lawsuit about iphone data plans. the lawsuit states that at&t systematically overcharges for data usage. sometimes it's high as high 300% according to to the lawsuit. the suit also claims the company charges for phantom usage for when the iphone was actually turned off. there's a question whether that
