forecast. any rain in sight? >> we have a little bit out there. this is one of the last full weeks of school for local kids. as they break for summer. it's going to feel like summer. watch for slick conditions in the south bay. we had showers roll through. let's check the drive with mike. >> we'll watch it on the roadways. no reports so far. we're looking over here to the maze and approach to the bay bridge. we are looking at the giants game tonight. traffic through the area around at&t park. watch for that. laura showed this to you. i wanted to point out the camera calmed down a bit. we have seen the camera shake quite a bit. there's a high wind advisory in place by chp. watch crossing the bay this morning. laura, back to you. the mayor of east palo alto promising the shooters

responsible for killing an infant over the weekend will be caught. we are live in east palo alto on the search for the gunman. >> horrific story. they are saying the shooting that killed the infant baby boy is a top priority. it was no accident the child's parents were targeted. investigators say two men fired multiple shots at a family leaving a baby shower. it happened around 1:00 monday morning. the parents were in the car with their 3-year-old child and 3-month-old infant. the mother, trying to shield her children, but the youngest was hit. take a close look at who authorities think is responsible for the shooting. the first weighing 130 to 140 pounds. he has a thin build, brown hair and medium to dark complexion.

he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. the other is a hispanic male in his mid-20s. he weighs 180 pounds, brown hair and dark eyes with a medium complexion. city leaders and police say they are committed to bringing those suspects to justice. >> we believe we are close. we will be steadfast in tracking them down and making sure they receive justice. it's the one thing i promised the mother. >> reporter: in the shooting, the parents suffered non-life threatening wounds. it's obviously hit this community hard. they led a vigil last night. the shooting actually comes at a time when crime has dropped here in east palo alto. murders dropped 75%.

meanwhile, investigators are hoping anyone will come forward with information leading to an arrest in the shooting. they are offering a $25,000 reward for that. >> let's hope they catch them, thank you very much. 6:04 now. deputies are asking for your help in catching a man who posed as a pest control worker. it happened on porter lane around 8:40 saturday morning. the man posed as a pest control worker pretending to take soil samples and forced his way into the home of the 73-year-old woman and assaulted her. anyone with information is asked to call santa clara county sheriff's department. this morning, the family of a missing nursing student is frustrated with the efforts to find her.

christie smith is live with an update. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i just got off the phone with hayward police and they will likely have an update on the progress of the case by mid-morning. michelle was last seen may 27th when she went to her car on a break. it's now june 6th and they have not seen her. the family is frustrated with what they call slow progress. the family says they have received few updates about the 26-year-old nursing student. a family spokesperson says the apartment was not searched until four days after she disappeared. police indicated it would take two weeks to get results back from the search of her car. the family believes it search might be further along if the fbi took over. that evidence might be analyzed more quickly. in a statement, the family says

we have been assured they have personnel around the clock yet only six are assigned to the team. of those, three recently went on vacation. the police contacted the fbi early on and have used some of their resources and they are investigating many leads that have not been made public. at this point, the reward stands at $40,000. more money has come in over the weekend. there may be updated information about the reward money coming out later today. reporting live in hayward, christie smith, today in the bay. >> it gets tougher and tougher as time goes on. police are trying to figure out how a body wrapped in a plastic bag ended up in someone's front yard. it was found around 10:30 outside a home on ticonderoga drive and pome avenue.

they found the bag between bushes near the sidewalk. officers say they saw blood coming out of the bag. they didn't open the bag and called the coroner. the coroner is working to identify the body and the cause of death. there was overnight news from iraq. marla tellez is live to tell us more. >> good morning. it is 6:07 now. an attack killed five u.s. military service members in iraq. it happened in baghdad. iraqi security officials are saying it was due to a rocket attack on a base in eastern baghdad. the americans killed were at the base as advisers. it's the single biggest loss of lives since 2009. fine ral services for the two san francisco firefighters who died in the line of duty will be held fri.

a 21 year veteran of the department. anthony died saturday, two days after the fire. he was a 14-year veteran at the department. they were fighting a house fire when experts say a flashover hit them. it's when a fire reaches temperatures of over 1,000 degrees. now the funerals will be held at st. mary's cathedral on friday. the fire department expects thousands of firefighters from around the bay area and beyond to attend. >> no doubt. it's a brotherhood. it is. it's such a big loss. thank you very much. pg&e tested sections of pipelines in the city of newark over the weekend. the pipes were installed back in 1949. pg&e is testing 150 miles of pipeline similar to the one that

exploded in san bruno last year. all tests are scheduled to be complete by 2014. firefighters in arizona say high winds could push a wildfire across the state. the blaze already burned 192,000 acres. fire crews are trying to hold a 30 mile line across. the weather is not cooperating. national weather service is predicting winds of 30 miles per hour in eastern arizona. conditions so dry they are ripe for additional wildfires. another is burning here in california in kern county north of bakersfield. now, temperatures are going to get warmer. are we going to be where we need to be for this time of year? >> girl, we need to be out on the beach, sipping breezies.

we are going to get good weather. what's normal, people say there's no such thing as normal. the average temp for this time of year is mid to upper 70s. yes, we will see more of that. seeing great improvement over the course of the morning. we started out with a lot of shower activity. the showers have cleared out. we have a bone dry radar. we are expecting a little of it to push on shore throughout the morning hours. this is what we are looking at now. here is the big system of low pressure that brought the rain over the weekend. it's pushing into southern california. as it continues to head out of here, high pressure is moving in. high pressure is building in. this is the pattern that is traditional to the bay area this time of year. that will be the case for thursday, friday and possibly 80s popping up on the temperature map.

pension reform. we are told pension reform talks were off until they can come up with ballot language. they voted to put a proposal on the ballot, but the unions say why wait? they are ready to talk pensions right now, right across the street. the rv will be manned 24/7 to give city leaders the opportunity to get past. san jose is facing a $115 million budget deficit all yearlong. >> we are ready to pass reform and city is not. they are dragging their feet. they will not sit with us to negotiate reform. >> reporter: the labor relations director has been talking to the unions for more than a year. we have left him a couple messages about today's union action. on friday, as i sat down with the san jose mayor, i asked him

million in state bonds to realign the capitol exits. one likely improvement will be a new ramp from 101 to capital expressway to enter the highway before the expressway. the newfound cash comes from savings on other projects from a 2008 bond measure. they are going to be welcome changes. california hit a major milestone. we have recycled one billion pounds of e-waste. that's computers and tvs kept out of landfills. california was the first state to pass an e-waste law. since then, 24 states followed our lead. california pays for the waste program through fees charged on

6th. in their opinion, the investigation is going too slowly. they want the fbi to take the lead in trying to find the 26-year-old nursing student who went to her car for a break in hayward and hasn't been seen since. two chief complaints, they say police did not search her apartment until four days after she disappeared. the police told them it would take two weeks to get the results back of a search of her car. they feel, if the fbi were out here, her picture would be on the missing person's website link. the family said they have been assured personnel are working around the clock but there are only six assigned to the case and recently, three of them went on vacation. they are saying they are committed to solving this case and will stay on it for as long

20s. 5'9" to 5' 10" and weighs 180 pounds. authorities say the two men fired multiple shots into the car of a family leaving a baby shower on wisteria drive just before 1:00 sunday morning. the parents, 3-year-old child and 3-month-old son were all in the car. the infant suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. police chief ronald davis says the victims are former residents. he called the suspects a significant threat to the community. >> clearly any shooting is a tragedy. when it's a child, it strikes at the heart of our community and all of our communities. my direct message to them is we will find you and you will be

held accountable. >> reporter: witnesses say they say the men firing at the car and running away from the scene. the mother tried to shield the children. the older child was not injured. they are urging anyone with information to come forward. they are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. >> i can't imagine what those parents must be going through. thank you very much. the wildfire that started more than a week ago in arizona continues to build. now, firefighters have one on their hands. marla tellez is live in the news room with an update on both. good morning. >> good morning, laura. it is now 6:37. this morning, a wild fire is burning near bakersfield. more than 350 acres have burned in kern county, 45 miles east of

bakersfield. nearby communities have been evacuated including dutch john flats. predicted thunderstorms are feared because hundreds of abandoned gold mines are in the area. the key fire, as it's been named is 10% contained. in arizona, the huge wildfire there could grow because of a windy forecast and expected lightning storm. there are no containment on the wildfire near new mexico and eastern arizona. it's burned 184,000 acres and forced the evacuation of more than 2200 people. they ordered more to evacuate yesterday. firefighters have come from oregon and new york. it's the third largest wildfire in state history. so far, no injuries reported. >> let's hope it remains that

welcome back, everyone. a live look outside this morning overlooking the san francisco bay. sadly, the flags in san francisco at half staff because of the two fallen firefighters. sadly, their lives were taken after fighting a fire. 6:46 now. the former chief of the international monetary fund is expected to plead not gill tuil charges he sexually assaulted a woman employee. police say he assaulted a housekeeping employee at a new york hotel on may 14th. he was a favorite for france's next presidential race before this arrest. cnn reports the justice department tried to work out a plea deal with john edwards before he pleaded not guilty. they wanted him to serve six months in jail if he pleaded

guilty to breaking campaign finance laws. he did not want to spend that much time away from his son and daughter. he pled guilty to charges on friday. served 20 months for firing a gun inside a nightclub. he left prison less than an hour ago. he shot himself in the leg with a pistol. he didn't have a license for the gun. about 2500 cyclists are riding south to los angeles trying to raise money for aids research. they left san francisco on the 30th anniversary of the aids crisis. on june 5th they released a
