the defense is asking for a mistrial after jurors were shown a dwrafk image of anthony's daughter, caylee. details and a live report from the courtroom coming up. this is a special week on "today." al is in anchorage, alaska, for the start of lend a hand 2011. this is his tenth annual cross-country adventure where he helps deserving charities. >> he's really excited about this. he says lend a hand's biggest week is this week, is biggest week ever. we'll check in with al coming up. >> we'll get to al in a couple minutes. let's begin with the anthony weiner scandal. each day seems to bring more embarrassing photos and calls for his resignation. luke russert is on capitol hill. >> reporter: even as new lewd photographs emerged on the internet and house democratic leaders called on him to stem down, congressman anthony weiner refused to resign, saying, quote, he'll take a temporary leave of absence to seek professional treatment. >> i've made some serious

mistakes here. i have to redeem myself. i'm going to try to get back to work. >> reporter: congressman anthony weiner refuses to resign, this weekend hoping to hold onto his job announcing he would take a leave of absence and check himself in for professional treatment, a move democratic leaders still insisted he step down. democratic national committee chairwoman debbie wasserman schultz. >> the continued service in congress is untenable. this has become a distraction for representative weiner, his family, his constituents and house. >> reporter: house minority leader nancy pelosi issued a statement calling on weiner to seek treatment and resign. adding to the pressure, this weekend tmz.com published new suggestive photos of weiner at the capitol hill members gym that he allegedly sent to an unidentified woman. all that after he engaged in a correspondence with twitter with

a 17-year-old high schoolgirl in delaware. police cleared weiner of the crime in that case saying, quote, there was no disclosure of criminal activity nor inappropriate contact by the congressman. despite all that democratic sources tell nbc news weiner will not make any further decisions about his political future until his pregnant wife, huma abedin, returns from an overseas diplomatic trib with her boss, secretary of state hillary clinton. meanwhile, protesters calling for his resignation have shown up in his home office in queens although polls show he's still popular in his district. >> he's a liar. how do i know how many other things he's lied about? >> everybody's lied at some point. >> i don't agree. >> reporter: for the most part republicans have kept quiet about the scandal but during a commencement address at ohio state house speaker john boehner offered this. >> when you begin to go out there and ask people to vote for you, they're probably not going to vote for you if they can't say your name. you know, my name looks like beaner, bonner, boner, thank god

it's not weiner. >> reporter: and while many democrats wanted weiner to actually resign, they're relieved he will not be here on capitol hill. i spoke to one democratic aide who said, quote, maybe now our policy will now get some media attention. >> luke, thanks so much. kelly o'donnell is nbc's capitol hill correspondent. kelly, good morning to you. i've got to ask you about this. congressman weiner's online behavior, while it is shocking, as far as we know he's not done anything illegal. what options do nancy pelosi and other house leaders have to get rid of him since they want him to leave? >> reporter: well, it's very complicated because they can't force him to quit if he refuses to go. they have two tracks. there is the ethics investigation, but that could take months. even if that eventually leads to punishment it's unlikely it would include kicking him out of congress because he hasn't been accused or convicted of any crime. they really are trying to shame

him out, taking a political approach. what they can do is with house members coming back, all the democrats can meet, they can take a couple of steps. they can decide together to say he should resign. they could strip him of his committee assignments. they could even kick him out of their caucus, really exile him, make him much more difficult to be functioning here, much harder to survive and harder to serve his constituents. >> there's got to be a back story here in terms of why the dems are so united and not wasting time to push him out. what to we know about that? >> reporter: politically, they thought they'd gained traction on issues like medicare, and all of that has been put aside. they feel they're getting no attention for that now. so they're using very strong words -- bizarre, sordid, indefensible, in describing his conduct to push him out. they don't think there's enough time to recover politically. they feel he's taken up too much time, been too much of a distraction so they're trying to do everything they can to pressure him out even though so far that's not working.

>> kelly o'donnell this morning, thank you so much. another member of congress is in the headlines. for a much more positive reason. new photos of gabrielle giffords released over the weekend, the first since she was shot in the head in january, and she looks great. nbc's jay gray has this story. jay, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, ann. those pictures you talk abwere taken here at the hospital just a few weeks ago. they're the first clear images of gabrielle giffords since the attack and help to provide perhaps new perspective on her difficult recovery. her hair is shorter and darker, but her smile is as radiant as ever. these new photos of congresswoman gabby giffords were released sunday on her facebook page. in one she's alone, in the other she sits alongside her mother gloria. pictures, her staff says, of progress and giffords' enduring strength. >> it is amazing to think that this woman was shot at point

blank range in the head less than six months ago. i think the pictures really capture the congresswoman's resilience and her spirit and her determination. >> reporter: the pictures were taken last month by a tucson photographer just a day after giffords traveled to florida to see her husband head into space on board the shuttle "endeavour." giffo giffords' close friend, debbie wasserman schultz, spoke to the congresswoman just last week. >> she spoke to me in full sentences, initiated those sentences instead of just responding, which is what she had only been able to do until recently. she's making remarkable progress. we're so proud of her. she's working so hard. she's got a long way to go. >> reporter: but giffords' aides have tempered optimism considering the severity of the congresswoman's brain injury. >> it's a very slow process. she suffered an injury that unfortunately leaves 95% of those inflicted with it dead. the fact that she's still recovering at the pace she is a really hopeful sign.

>> reporter: and doctors say the progress with this type of case is unpredictable. >> we really don't know how she's going to do long term. this is a hidden injury which really takes months to years to fully heal and to improve. so we really just don't know where she'll plateau at this point in time. >> reporter: giffords is rehabbing in houston to be closer to her husband mark who's back now from his shuttle flight. the congresswoman has plenty of support. since the new pictures have been posted, hundreds have left messages on her facebook page. one wrote, gabby, you look amazing. god bless you, and keep your spirits high. another said, beautiful. you are such a testament to the human spirit. and the spirit in giffords that continues to push her recovery, in fact, doctors say if she continues to progress, she could transfer to an outpatient status here by the end of the month. ann, it's just been an amazing recovery. that's the next step. >> it is pretty remarkable. jay gray, thank you so much this morning.

it is now 7:09. let's go upstairs to matt. >> thank you very much. wall street is on a big losing streak with the dow opening below 12,000 today. it's fallen for six straight weeks. what does that mean for the economic recovery and your bottom line? jim cramer is the host of cnbc's "mad money." jim, good to see you. >> good morning, matt. >> i'm going to be honest here. in the past when the dow has been down, we say it's a downward spiral. this is different. this is six weeks in a row where the numbers have fallen. should we be amping up the concern level a little bit? >> we've only been down for a seven-week period three times. so, yes, we have to worry. this is very unusual. hasn't happened often. it is really a sign that the economy is slowing. >> when you look at some of the key economic numbers that have been coming out over the last month or six weeks or so, jobs numbers and housing numbers, and you've schooled me in the past, those two numbers are very much related, is this more than a soft patch? >> no, i don't think it's more than a soft patch because i still think there are things

that could go right. this is all proximate cause. gasoline going to $4. get gasoline back to $3.50, we restart things. >> gasoline is a dollar higher right now than it was this time last year, although the numbers have been going down a little bit in the last couple of weeks. give me a concrete example of why high gas prices, high oil prices are a drag on the economy. >> many fewer cars are bought. cars are a big part of the economy. retail sales go down. we are a service country. retail, restaurant, cars. gigantic part of our economy, all slowing down. >> let's talk about jobs. let's be clear about this. the private sector is creating jobs. it's misinterpreted a lot of times. people are saying we are not creating jobs. we are, but we're not creating enough jobs to keep the recovery going. and, in particular, last month the numbers were disappointing. do you see something on the horizon that is going to spur on job growth? >> i think the things that we can count on are less united

states centric. we need china to stop slowing down. we need europe to ge stronger. we need japan to get back online. the only thing that really involves the united states that could matter, debt ceiling resolution, some sort of reconciliation between democrats and republicans. >> when we talk about the debt ceiling, it's pretty clear it will be raised. but the question is, what comes out on the spending side to counter that. how much of an impact will the results of the debate in congress have on the economy? >> one of the reasons i don't want people to sell stocks is i think it could be dramatic. we are frozen in this country for a variety of reasons, including gasoline, but also washington. you get any resolution, i think people are going to start hiring. >> a resolution that looks like what? >> that looks like some toughness. we can't just be kicking the can down the road. there's got to be some sense that both the democrats and the republicans recognize the urgency of getting this country's fiscal house in order.

authorities say they have no reported injuries or deaths. some hope in arizona as officials say crews battling the massive wildfires there have made a breakthrough. nns's -- nbc's tom llamas is in springerville, arizona. tom, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, natalie. there are more than 4,000 people fighting the wallow wildfire and this weekend they turned a corner. 10% is now contained. some evacuation orders have been lifted, including the one in this town. thousands of homes are still in danger now in two states. the wallow wildfire, which has turned 440,000 acres in eastern arizona into a torch forest, marched east threatening homes and residents in new mexico. firefighters cleared rows of trees and set containment fires to stop the wildfire from spreading. some arizona residents were forced to evacuate, were allowed back home sunday. and thousands still can't come home because their homes remain in danger. emergency management officials

warned residents that returning home too soon means facing a health risk with the lingering smoke. on the outskirts of the blaze the job of fighting the wallow wildfire is done with controlled burns. but right inside, crews like the snake river hot shots worked to contain the fire and make sure new ones don't pop up. this elite group of firefighters have spent two weeks here working 16-hour days. >> do you ever get scares? >> well, everyone gets scared. but hopefully with your training, you're able to get home safe. >> reporter: there are 24 hot shot crews spread throughout this wildfire, which is now larger than the city of houston. and this morning there is a new wildfire burning in the southeast corner of arizona just south from where we are. that fire is now forcing people to evacuate as well. natalie? >> all right, tom llamas in springerville, arizona. thank you, tom. the book of mormon was the star of the tony awards last night, winning nine statues. one was for best musical. another big winner was neil

i'd rather have the rice crispy treats. coming up we're going to tell you how to make wiser, healthier choices. it was a busy weekend for the royals as they celebrated several milestones. naturally it was catherine, the duchess of cambridge who turned the heads. >> beautiful girl. also, we're going to let you know that tomorrow we're going to have an exclusive interview with president barack obama with the economy struggling and the election just over a year away, we have a lot of ground to cover with the president. so we'll have our interview for you tomorrow on today. let's begin this half hour with this new drama at casey anthony's murder trial. as prosecution prepares to wrap up the case, nbc's kerry sanders joins us from orlando with more on this story. kerry, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ann. the prosecutors are entering their fourth week now in testimony. so far, they've laid out for the jury casey's lies, recorded jailhouse conversations, and scientific evidence, including the medical examiner's forensics.

casey anthony's defense team claims there never was a murder. 2-year-old caylee anthony accidentally drowned in the backyard swimming pool. but the medical examiner says, that doesn't square with the way parents react in crisis. >> 100% of the time, let's say on a systemic review of drownings, it says one of the more common accidents, 100% of the time when the person finds the child, they call 911 because there is a chance that that child might live. there is -- they need to report that and give them a chance. >> reporter: but no one ever called for help in this case. dr. g, as she's known, because of her cable tv reality show made the key determination that led to casey's murder charges. with only skeletal remains and no idea how caylee died, dr. g still ruled caylee's death a homicide. defense attorney cheney mason.

>> you are saying that circumstantial evidence to you it probably was a homicide. >> not probably, i think that is the only logical conclusion. >> reporter: a conclusion she told jurors she reached because of several red flags. that caylee was not reported missing for 31 days, that her body was hidden in a bag and dumped in the woods, and because of duct tape. >> besides the delay, besides the being found in a field decomposed, would be the duct tape somewhere located on the lower half of this face. there is no child that should have duct tape on its face when it dies. there's no reason to put duct tape on the face after they die. >> reporter: to emphasize that point in a clip too graphic for us to show on television, prosecutors showed caylee's face super imposed over her skull, and the duct tape from the crime

scene then placed across her mouth and nose. included in that picture chosen for that demonstration, the adused murderer, casey, smiling at the camera. casey studied the image when the jury was out of the room. when the jury was back in court, she looked away and never once glanced at the monitor. defense attorney jose baez called the image prejudicial and asked for a mistrial. >> served only one purpose, was to inflame the jury. >> reporter: but the judge said -- >> anything else from the defense? >> nothing. >> reporter: the judge says he can rule on the mistrial all the way up to the end of the mistrial so things move forward. meantime, this thursday it will be three years since caylee died. three years since caylee died, a 2-year-old little girl. it's taken longer to get to this point than she was alive, ann. >> point well taken. kerry sanders, thank you so much. savannah guthrie is "today's" legal correspondent. good morning to you.

>> good morning. >> the defense is miking a lot about the video that was shown with casey's face superimposed over this image of caylee's face and the skull. they're asking for a mistrial, saying this photo is highly prejudicial. could this actually lead to a mistrial? >> the judge has denied the mistrial but he did say the defense can bring it up later if it wants to, if there's a conviction. this might be one of the points raised on appeal. it was very powerful. for one thing, it demonstrated for the jurors that one single piece of duct tape could conceivably have fit over both her mouth and her nose. it was powerful emotionally because this photograph, of course, had casey anthony, the beaming mother, right next to this adorable little girl and it morphs into the skull, the actual photo from the scene where caylee's body was recovered. it was very powerful. i will say this, none of the prosecution experts have been able to say definitively that the duct tape was placed over the nose and the mouth.

and without that kind of definitive evidence, some jurors might have a question about how she died. >> they're paying attention to this powerful testimony from the medical examiner. and she made a comment about how she said caylee's death was a homicide even though she couldn't actually pinpoint how she died. the question -- raises the question, how common is nonscientific testimony from a medical examiner in a case like this? >> it was interesting moment because actually this happened during cross-examination and yet i thought it was a strong moment for the prosecution. we are in the middle of a trial. we are in the fourth week now. and the testimony starts to kind of all flow together. this was a moment that stood out because here the medical examiner is putting the pieces together for the jury roys saying, you know, this death was not reported immediately, this child had duct tape on her face. and that's just not the normal course of business. this is a homicide. but at the same time, as you point out, this medical examiner could not rely on science to

tell jurors exactly how this child died. she had to rule it was homicide by undetermined means. >> meantime, over the course of the past week we have seen riveting images of casey looking at some of these pictures of her daughter and just emotional and having to leave the courtroom at one point. at some -- is there a possibility that this could actually create some sympathy in the jury for a mother who has lost her daughter. >> it might. i know that all of us who watch this, we all look at the defendant, we're always pouring over her reaction trying to learn something about her. in my experience, jurors, they do look at the defendant but not as much as observers like us do. they usually have their eyes on the witness stand or on the screens that are in front of them looking at some of the evidence. but they will still glance at the defendant. they will try to take a measure of this person and to the extent that her emotions are appropriate, seeing these awful pictures of her daughter, her skeleton lying in the woods,

bottom line. >> i'm getting older, so it's a lot of pressure to stay young, to stay fit, to stay thin, and to stay, you know, well put together because there's someone that's right behind you that wants your job just as badly. >> reporter: but it's not just for people who grace the covers of magazines. last year more than 200,000 people got liposuction. the majority of them, women. >> it seems like every other patient i'm see for liposuction is a thin, fit patient. >> reporter: beverly hills surgeon says liposuction reproportions the body. it doesn't make someone skinny. >> somebody can be thin like nicole and have stubborn disproportioned areas of fat. and that can be a perfect candidate for liposuction. it's all about my role in terms of rebalancing her body. >> reporter: nicole is seeing him for a procedure called mini liposuction which targets one or two small areas. the surgery is far less invasive than traditional liposuction,

and the whole procedure talks about an hour. >> i think you just have to watch out when you start fixing flaws that nobody but you can see you might end up with the kind of body you will never be happy with. >> reporter: cindy worries quick-fix solutions like mini liposuction re-enforce the idea that all women should try for perfection. >> you need to make sure that once you have the surgery you're not going to say any little flaw that crops up, i'm going to fix that, too. >> reporter: any form is still surgery and continues to raise complicated questions about how far is too far for the search for beauty. for today, kristen welker, nbc news. >> dr. david emron who you just saw that in piece and she is a psychologist. welcome to both of you. they're thinking nicole is a beautiful young lady. she's the last person on earth who needs liposuction.

is this a case of people who are going to just chase perfection too far? >> well, you know, there are so many misunderstandings of liposuction as surgery. it's not to do with overweight or out of shape. >> it's not weight loss. >> no. weight loss is the patient's responsibility. my responsibility is to balance the person's body. nicole is a thin person, in shape. she has a disproportionate areas that she struggles with. >> are you comfortable with this? she has genetically disproportionate areas. is this the same thing as whitening your teeth? >> i'm a big teeth whiter in. but as a psychologist when i have a patient who wants to go get liposuction or mini liposuction we have to talk about psychological factors that are in there. is it a quest for perfection? we look at that, because as you heard, it's a slippery slope. is it a quest for happiness? which should be done somewhere outside of a surgeon's office. maybe in addition to the

surgery. is it an event or is it an age that is making you go in for the surgery? so once you've talked about all that, if you want to go in and get that one little problem area done, it's not a bad idea. >> do you tend to see people like nicole over and over again? in other words, once they get that the one little area done, is it off to the next little area? >> well, possibly. i mean, people have to do things for the right reasons. and when i identify a patient who is doing things to replace some sense of internal happiness, i'm concerned about things. no external thing is going to necessarily make somebody happy. it's not a shortcut to happiness. it's going to come somewhere someplace else. >> would you say no to someone? if you get the hint and a red flag goes up and this is about trying to win back that guy as opposed to just being more comfortable in your body, would you say no, i don't want to do this procedure? >> well, i'm a technician. you know, if i see somebody is a candidate and i feel that liposuction is going to make an

improvement, i will probably want to do the surgery. but i also want to make sure they're in the right mindset of things and not use it to replace some sense of internal happiness. >> i have to understand exactly what the outcome isexactly. >> it's going to change your body. it's not going to change your personality or your life. >> i might be the person saying no, until you fix this psychological theme, you shouldn't go in for the liposuction. once you do and you still want it, go ahead. >> "new york times" had an article about liposuction. they focus and a study that says if you gain weight after liposuction will redistribute to other parts of the body. is it possible that you maintain the flat stomach but gain it in other areas? >> it brings up another a. number of points. it was only done on 14 patients. one thing it doesn't mention is how their patients and if they were evaluated for disproportion. they really weren't. i don't ask a patient what they want to do. i determine as a surgeon what should be done to rebalance

about before, she means before that freak accident 23 years ago. sue was cooking dinner and playing with her 6-month-old son patrick. >> she grabbed him underneath the shoulders and picked him up. his back struck a low ceiling fan in our kitchen with enough force to knock it off its hook. the fan fell, struck sue in the temple. >> reporter: what sue's husband jim saw next was changed her life forever. >> it was out of a horror movie. she collapsed on the floor. lots of blood. called 911. they asked was my wife braet breathing. i said i didn't know. >> reporter: doctors at the hospital said there was nothing they could do. >> i was told to go get my son, to come back, and to say good-bye. >> how did that make you feel? >> i was -- i was terrified. >> reporter: still, sue was young and physically fit, and she hung on in a coma for a week until she finally woke up. >> nothing less than miraculous.

back. in a classic, at that time, traumatic brain injury. sheering of brain tissue. they described it as if you have a bowl full of jello and you take it out of the ridge and you shake it, there's cracks. that's what she had in her head. >> remarkably, your son patrick was unscathed. >> he was fine. >> in your case, you couldn't remember. what was not remembering like? >> i think it was fear more than anything. i don't actually remember being in the hospital but if i think back to that time i think it feels like fear and frustration and anger and, you know, all those kind of emotional things. so i guess that was probably -- it was scary. >> yeah. very scary. scary, too, for you. you were just 24 years old. two little boys. here your wife doesn't know who you are, doesn't know your voice. this had to be just so devastating for you. so how did you find the way to

reach out to her and make a relationship again? >> she was the mother of my children. she was the mother of my sons. i couldn't do anything else. >> yeah. and did you have to take her out again? >> oh, yes. >> did you have to buy her flowers and take her to the movies? what did you do? >> i was her caretaker and looked at her. i was more of a big brother. you don't kiss your big brother. >> no, no. so it took a while. what do you think was the thing that really helped you in the end make peace with what had happened? >> probably just this past year, just starting to talk about it again. i went back to school starting in 2007, and i was active at my school. i was, you know, an officer in ptk, which is phi beta kappa, officer, so that really put me -- like that was my thing. like i could do this by myself. >> so life goes on.

and what would you say above all one learns from this kind of trauma, this kind of fear, this kind of -- >> no matter what happens, just never -- never give up. even if you can't see it, even if you can't know how you're probably going to get through it, give it a chance and don't lose hope. >> don't lose hope. what about for you, su? >> i guess people should be, you know, more looking out for themselves, not in like a selfish way but there's more to being a wife and mother than being just a wife and mother. you have to be your own person, too. >> right. you had to go and find yourself. >> right. and it was -- >> here you are emerging. >> and it was very confusing to me because everybody was telling me who i was before. and that wasn't who i am now. so it was almost leak it was a different -- i'm a different person. it was confusing. >> who you are now is

i know he loves. this is ribeye steak. why the you love this cut of meat? >> the marbling gives you the flavoring. cut like this medium rare, put it on what morgan is preparing here, it brings out the dpflavo >> do you put it on the grill basically, do you put any seasoning on it? >> depends on how i'm cooking it. if i codo a ribeye like this, no seasoning. a little bit of salt but most of the time i do not. i let the individuals do that themselves. >> after you cook it you slice it up because it's going to go on top of something. a little bit of an unusual preparation. morgan leigh, tell me about it. >> because the steak is so heavy and we like to eat light we do a fresh spinach and light tomato and potato sauce. >> talk to me. what's in here. russet potatoes? >> yeah. we just quartered up and saute in a little butter and olive oil. i then add the tomatoes. i like the mix of red and yellow because you eat with your eyes first and foremost. bring a lot of color into it.

i add a little bit of thyme and chopped basil. lastly, a little bit of balsamic vinegar and a little bit of white wine vinegar. >> you simmer but for not long. you like it because it's quick to make. >> fresh and quick. we don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen cooking because we want to spend time together so we make light dishes and easy dishes. >> this goes on top of the spinach and the steak on top of that? >> yeah. >> you can plate that. you were making red meat but through your playing years, you've been known for nutrition and fitness. you do allow yourself to splurge, though. >> i do. you know one thing that i used to do when i played in the mornings is to have steak and eggs for breakfast. >> before going out on the course? >> because i never had lunch. you tee off around 1:00, i needed to have something to last me through the day so i started eating steak and eggs. >> you're going to put the ribeye on top of that. one of the nice things about you

off the callous snes. >> we have problems, kol loucal ingrown toenails. the number one problem is the callous, hard skin that can be so painful. the good way to pumice it is daily in the shower using a gel or soap and water. >> better to do it wet. >> wet, definitely. >> you can use pumice stones like this or these are files. i mean, what do you think about those grater things you sometimes see when you get a pedicure. >> sometimes people are too aggressive with it and can actually damage their skin. >> okay. so pumicing is the first step. next, moisturize. you have a really good tip for very dry feet, which can be painful. >> dry feet, very common. our feet are exposed to the sun. you can use your moisturizing agent. and make sure when you apply it do it generousry, all around the foot, especially to heels. and then put your foot in a plastic bag. wrap it around with a towel and keep it there for 15 minutes. >> you actually stick your foot in the bag. >> in the bag. >> does the towel need to be warm?

>> no, wrap it around in a towel and leave it there for 15 minutes. that's a great way to moisturize. >> at that point i suppose it will absorb. >> yes. >> moving on. swollen feet. what do you recommend? >> as the temperature goes up our feet tend to swell. you know how difficult it is to get back into your sandals and shoes. this is a key way to keep the swelling down. you can use frozen peas on the ankle. you can soak in luke warm water in epson salt. if you have a lot of swelling you can make a paste. massage it on. leave it on. and then wash it off with cold water. >> okay. next, moisturize those nails. this is an interesting idea. you recommend olive oil from your kitchen. >> right. you can go to your kitchen cupboards and use olive oil and almond oil. they just came out with olive oil. >> dab it on to the cuticle? >> dab it on to the nail and cuticle. nails are very dry being exposed to the sun when you're wearing

sandals. >> got to go fast. brightening your nails. >> all of us have pedicures, wearing nail polish. this is a wonderful way. hydrogen peroxide on a toothbrush, put it on the nail and it brighto tens it. >> if you have fat ankles, exercise your ankles on the tennis ball like this? >> let's use the word thick ankles. >> that makes me feel better. >> usually due to poor diet, weight gain. a quick exercise is roll your foot back and forth on a tennis ball or underneath your desk you can roll a can of soda. >> last, sunscreen, which people forget on the tops of the feet really get the sun. what you dow recommend? >> sun block, over 30 spf. reapply it every two hours. >> you put on saffron. >> it's great. >> what it does is because it's an analgesic. if you have burning feet, which we get in the summertime, makes it feel great. >> all right. great tips. thank you. and still to come, an insider's view of the royal

♪ hard to believe that was six weeks ago. maybe because we keep replaying the moment over and over and over again. prince william and kate middleton tied the knot in what seemed to be a very intimate and personal ceremony in front of their family and friends, and, oh, 2 billion viewers around the world. did it really go off without a hitch? we'll have personal reflections from the man who planned and conducted the service, the dean of westminster abbey, dr. john hall. we like that music when we introduce you, too. and he's going to be here to tell us all about what happened behind the scenes. also ahead, more from aink

ran anchorage, alaska, it's setting a record already. al, what do you have coming up from anchorage? >> well, coming up, we're going to be talking about these kids. we've got these kids here from -- first of all, look at this. one of the students did a sketch of me while we were here. pretty good likeness. i think i look -- i think he made me look better than i normally do. we've also got the kids playing with the epiphone guitars here at the alaska native center and some of these kids doing great athletics trying to -- it's his native game in alaska, kind of like accommodation basketball and kick ball. pretty impressive. in just a moment, we're going to hear from the man of the hour, ma'o tosi. we keep promising he's going to talk. we haven't let him talk. he's got a lot to say because he's been doing a lot, too. guys, back to you. >> we can't wait. >> we hear the rooster in the background but, ma'o, not yet. >> thanks, al.

william and his bride kate middleton. from the day the wedding was announced to the day they walked down that aisle, the dean of westminster abbey planned, choreographed and conducted the very historic and religious event. we're lucky to have him with us there morning. dr. hall, good morning. >> good morning. pleasure to be here. >> you're here on official duties. you were here this weekend for what? >> thomas church, fifth avenue, has a choir, has the only choir school in eager speaking world, apart from our own, that just dedicates to boys in the choir. this was grad wrauation ceremond i gave an address. then i preached for pentecost yesterday for the church. >> what an honor for you to be able to do that. we have to turn our attention to the royal wedding because everybody is still talking about it. we still are celebrating in it. and i think relishing every moment. as the dean of westminster abbey, you conducted the service. you have the most incredible vantage point. i think all of us were looking

for a little hiccup, a little something to go not as planned. was there anything that happened like that? >> the team had worked really hard. the abbey team and the palace team and everyone working together. the intention was just to visit every possible thing that could go wrong and how can we make sure it doesn't go wrong. >> only 2 billion people watching, after all. no pressure. >> you have to say, 2 billion. you have no idea. you can't look at 2 billion, you can't imagine it so you just have to concentrate on the people. in a sense it was a very intimate and wonderful occasion. i think the couple themselves did everything absolutely right. they thought very hard about how exactly they were going to do it, which way they would move, who would go as it were first and which hand they would walk with and so on. when they were moving, for example, over to the chairs at the side, moving forward to the prayer desk, all of that was thought through. >> there was a moment, though, where the music and the entrance of the queen, you were unsure if

they were going to play it on queue, right? >> yes. this was the only thing from my point of view. i had worked out with the bride and her father exactly what would happen, pippa would give me a nod after she arranged her de dress and i would turn and the music start. i had not done that arrangement with the organist about the queen's arrival which, of course, was an hour earlier. i was looking towards the queen and talking to the queen, prince of wales, duchess of cornwell there. i was waiting for the music to start behind me and i think they were waiting for me to turn. >> a little moment of panic perhaps. >> and all is well. >> tell me about the couple themselves. you said very intimate. something they planned themselves. very much putting their personal touches in. were they nervous though? i mean, did you get a sense? you could kind of see a little bit of nerves. >> i think nerves are not things to be afraid of. i think people would inevitably feel slightly nervous.

i felt slightly nervous. how could you not feel slightly nervous on an occasion of that kind, such an historic moment. as for them, after all, this is a wedding. here is the great sort of royal ceremony, national ceremony and all of these people watching. >> not just any wedding. it means a lot. >> it's about this couple committing to each other throughout their lives, asking for the blessing of got on their marriage together. it's a special, very special moment. and i think they were nervous. they didn't show it in a very positive way. but i got the sense that they were. >> and now, we embrace them. everybody in britain seems to be completely enamored. how long do you think it will last, people loving their royals? >> the wonderful thing is that great institutions review themselves, generation after generation. there's a wonderful renewal. i think this couple is very special. and they really care intimately, obviously for each other.

good monday morning to you. it's 9:56. i'm laura garcia-cannon. police are searching for three suspects in the beating death in

a home invasion robbery. the incident took place last thursday near 13th street in richmond. three men broke into the home and the and not a random act in greenwood. at least one of the attackers. police have issued arrest warrants but have not released any details on those suspects. a huge turnout is expected in the east bay tonight to put out a potentially stinky and costly situation on the ground. the city does not have to maintain miles of sewer lines under homes anymore. the city argues that they are only legally responsible for paying for the mainline and providing a point of connection. not the privately owned connecting lines. so homeowners may be forced to shell out several thousand dollars to move and reconnect what runs on the private property new to the mainline.

sending me these. she's calling me and reading them to me, and laughing. our website asked readers, what do you think of the book. 86% said it was hilarious, 9% said appalling. 5% said they were too sleep-deprived tooknow. is thht kind of what you expected? >> that was very reassuring. i knew it was funny to my friends, my friends are a particular kind of group. so when we saw that level of approval across the country, i think that was the moment we said, this could be big. >> there's no frustration like that when you are just exhausted -- it's over for you and they want another story, they want, tell me, read another book. >> right. >> so you can read them all kinds of books, excepp yours? >> yeah. >> we're reading in the notes that book can be turned into a movie. how on earth -- is this going to be a movie. how? >> do you need me to get those? >> no, i'm good. >> i'm excited to see how it
