i hurt christina loren talking about frontal precipitation, at least it's not raining. or is it? >> not yet. but all participant this is morning will want to bring their umbrella to work. we do have prefrontal precipitation, what i like to call it. the front is starting to push into the north bay. let me show you where the showers are. you can see right now just to the north of santa rosa we have action coming in, not quite reaching santa rosa or the east bay, but of course it's a matter of time now. i think in the next half hour the east bay will see their first showers, that means slick roadways. let's find out if we have problems on a tuesday morning. >> the report is not updating but we're doing our homework. an accident in the east bay on the east shore freeway, the commute direction at gillman street. reports of an accident. the tow truck has arrived and two lanes are blocked. that's the latest. coming toward the area off the

richmond/san rafael bridge you have to slow, it's a 20-minute drive. a couple minutes longer. that could be a good stretch south of golden gate field. >> thank you. this morning police are looking for three armed suspects on the run after a stabbing in walnut creek. witnesses saw a large group get into a fight in the parking lot of the walnut creek car wash on north main street. now when police arrived they found two people on the ground, with stab wounds. the two victims are in the hospital. it's unclear how the fight started or if it was gang related. police say it's possible the suspects took off on foot into a nearby apartment complex but again, so far those suspects are still on the loose. >> also this morning, a danville family is keeping watch near their son's hospital bed praying he'll pull through after being buried alive at the beach. right now ryan buchanan is in

critical condition. on saturday the 17-year-old and his friend were digging a 6-foot tall hole and tunnel at sunset state beach when it collapsed, trapping both boys. life guards and good samaritans used shovels and frisbees to dig the teens out. >> pretty shocking. something you never want to see, you know. a young boy buried head first in a 6 foot hole and you're completely helpless. you can't get anybody out of a pit like that. i just never want to see it again. >> ryan's friends and his church community say they are going to pray for him every night until he recovers. doctors told his friends brain activity shows that he can hear them but he is unconscious. we're getting a look at a man shown confronting bryan stow before the bay area father was beaten in the parking lot.

cell phone video released by tmz show as man in a dodgers jersey confronting stow. stow's hands are in the air trying to cool things down. los angeles police arrested giovanni ramirez for the assault that left stow with a serious head injury. more than one month after his arrest charges have not been filed. his attorney insists ramirez wasn't even at the game. law experts say identifying the man in the video could potentially clear ramirez as a suspect. >> as a defense attorney i want to plant something in the jury's mind that is a logical alternative to my client having done it. >> l.a. investigators say they are reviewing this video. they will follow the evidence wherever it takes them, they say. >> did speeding or texting play a role in that deadly amtrak train crash in nevada? federal investigators reveal new information about the truck driver's spotty driving record. dmv record shows the drive are

lawrence valley who died in the crash was cited four times for speeding in the past three years. three of those tickets in the past ten months. while at the wheel of a school bus in california. meanwhile, a phone believed to have belonged to him was found in the wreckage now on its way to a lab in washington. investigators are trying to figure out if valley was texting just before the crash. at least six people died and 20 injured. >> this morning state budget deal nearly in place two weeks after the deadline. democrats claim the deal will balance the 2012 budget with a reserve of a half a billion dollars. democrats are counting some $4 billion of increased revenue from personal income tax. counting on the concept that you, me and everyone will make more money this year and pay more to the state. but if that money doesn't come through, there will be a series of trigger cuts in january, including cuts to education,

health and human services, and prisons. democrats including the governor also claim the budget will reduce the state's ongoing structural deficit by 75% over the next 18 months. >> it's a good budget, but it's not the budget that i started with in january, and the democratic leadership wanted. that was a budget that had revenue. we still have our wall of debt out there, we still have work to do. >> the fall legislature expected to vote on the budget this afternoon. so far republicans are not supporting the proposal. >> oakland city workers including police and firefighters are compromising with city leaders to help close the budget gap. the oakland police officers association, the firefighters union and three other unions say they will agree to pay 9% of their own pension plans. city leaders say they are hopeful the unions rank and file will approve those before the meeting. oakland is facing a $58 million budget gap going into the fiscal

year that starts friday. christina was talking about rain. it is headed our way. let's join her again. good morning. >> good morning to you. of course i'm pretty excited about this. this is not only going to cool us down, it's going to lay down all that particulate matter, that pollen that is hovering in the atmosphere making us sneeze. the rain is going to purify our air. today you want to bring that umbrella because we are expecting showers throughout the day, east bay, fair game for pretty strong thunderstorms to develop as we head throughout the afternoon. i'm tracking a couple of those. let's zoom in and show you where the showers are this morning. right now the front sits to the north of santa rosa. you can see it draped across 101 there. as we head throughout afternoon, it's going to continue to slide south. first east bay showers i think we'll see spotty activity probably over the next half hour or so. we'll be pinpointing the showers all morning, highs only in the 60s. yeah, you're going to need the jacket and the umbrella.

i'll let you know when you can put it away, hide it deep in the closet because we've got a significant warm-up coming up on the heels of this system of low pressure. that's on the way. let's get you to work, 4:37. mike, what do we have? >> an update for the accident on the east shore freeway. the latest, there is a tow truck, the second one's arriving. this is westbound 80 at gillman. they can hopefully clear this but we're looking at two lanes blocked. that's past university and there is some slowing in the area. 20 minute drive registering. most of the slowing through berkeley. you see that slowing right toward the merge past golden gate fields. the rest of the maze a smooth drive approaching, watching for wetter roads. but a smooth drive as well the altamont pass. 580 had slow drives yesterday. we're watching for livermore and 880, the construction we had on the northbound side, the sign moved, the construction only had

a lane or two blocked and there is no slowing. we're watching for rain. >> 4:38. police say they found the body of a walnut creek woman who was kidnapped, raped and killed by a serial killer decades ago. a napa county deputy says he found the body of 21-year-old ellen berlay in a dry river bed. she left home for a job interview in 1977, and never returned home. roger reese kiby was convicted of murdering berlay and five other women. police say he dropped their bodies along freeways. >> this morning we're getting a rare look at two famous falcons recovering after being shot out of the sky in oakland. this is video of one of the falcons getting a dose of antibiotics at the lindsay wildlife museum hospital in walnut creek. hia was shot with a pellet gun

streak. asian markets were higher overnight on optimism that the greek crisis will be resolved. europe is higher. we get some of our data on home prices forecast to have dropped again in april. and on consumer confidence. recap, the dow rising 108 points yesterday, 12,043 is is where we closed. the nasdaq up 35 to 2688. you're right, companies are facing a growing threat of cyber attacks. they have new tools. the department of homeland security will help avoid problems that let hackers exploit websites. the effort came about before this round of cyber attacks on sony, citigroup and the cia. microsoft is setting up an office in the clouds launching a cloud-based version of its office software. it's office 365 and has all of the applications. it will be available on line in formats from any device. trying to confront google who

that. >> i've been in san francisco, contra costa county here and silicon valley and never had issues with sprint. i don't work for them or anything. >> yes, we love our phones, but sometimes speed isn't everything. scott budman, "today in the east bay." >> all right. let's check in with christina one more time. good morning. >> good morning to you, mr. mcgrew. we have a very interesting forecast for you today. i want to show you first and foremost when it's expected to stop raining. that will be noon tomorrow. so, we're going to see pretty significant shower activity as we head throughout the week. excuse me, throughout the day today. i think that east bay cities, you are fair game for maybe a half inch up to an inch of rain. our temperatures are only going to be in the 60s today. upper 60s and then take a look at this warm-up toward the weekend. 95 degrees on saturday. so, a very significant change toward the end of the week.

very, very unusual to see a cold front at this time of year dipping so far to the south. here it is right now. you see that very well-defined counterclockwise rotation here. the front's pushing into northern california. i think it's going to break apart before it gets to portions of the south bay. may not make to the gilroy but this is what we're looking at. let me show you where the showers are. right now pushing into bodega bay, santa rosa, in about 10 minutes starting to fall in that neck of the woods. 9:00 a.m., the bulk of the moisture arrives in the north bay and starts to slide to the south. at noon i think that's when we will see steady rain in the east bay, lasting all the way through your evening commute. could be a rough ride home. by 7:00 p.m., the front breaks apart and starts to clear out of the area. i think we'll meet back here tomorrow at 4:30 we'll have residual showers. one more time, 68 degrees today up to mid-90s by saturday. no surprises, i want to let everybody know what's going to

distraction. the toll plaza shows you very light volume at the bay bridge. pretty good stream of headlights for this time but relatively light. we're approaching the 5:00 hour so you'll see the volume kick up. we'll watch that. we're also watching antioch, 65 here, that's no problem. but that should be the first to show the slowing. yesterday it hit hard. so far the rest of the week has been pretty light for the last couple of weeks so we'll watch the tuesday commute and see how things shape up and bay point and livermore, slowing right around airway, speeds below 60 miles per hour. averaging over 56 through the area. that's a smooth drive. no problems so far. as the rain comes in we'll watch as it affects the commute. >> 4:56. women battling breast cancer could see the return of a potentially life saving drug. the fda will hold a hearing for the makers of avastin, to decide whether to threat manufacturer continue producing the drug for terminal breast cancer patients. it was revoked by the fda last
