peninsula and even the east bay. expecting things to change over the next couple of hours. we'll talk about that and big time warm-up later on this week. everything in your seven-day outlook. let's get to you work. 6:00 a.m. how are we doing? >> how you doing? we're slowing down for highway 4 where we showed you earlier the sensor at harbor showing 65. that has not changed but the approach slowing heading over to about l street. so the alphabet letters slowing here. a live shot from erin on 101, starting to pick up and there are some of the low clouds past the overpass as well. we'll watch that as it affects the commute crossing the bay area bridges. >> two southern california men will have their day in court answering to charges that they beat bryan stow. this morning we're learning more about the investigation that eventually led to their arrest. marla tellez joins us live outside san francisco general hospital where stow is undergoing treatment. good morning, marla.

>> reporter: good morning. like bryan stow, the men arrested for his beating they are fathers, they both have children. well, unlike stow, they also have violent criminal histories, that's according to court records. i'm talking about 29-year-old louie sanchez and 30-year-old marvin norwood. they will be arraigned at 8:30 this morning, arrested thursday and face felony charges of mayhem, assault, and battery for the march 31st attack that left the 42-year-old paramedic with brain damage. according to the "l.a. times," the men live in the same neighborhood in rialto, that's in san bernardino county, about 60 miles east of los angeles. they are said to live six doors down from each other. on friday, l.a. police chief charlie beck announced the first suspect they arrested in may had nothing to do with the beating. beck was quoted saying in policing it's just as important

to exonerate the innocent as it is to implicate the guilty. of course he is referring to 31-year-old giovanni ramirez, turns out as the case against ramirez hit a dead end, detectives continued their investigation. ticket sales receipts from the march 31 game at dodger stadium led them to sanchez and norwood. they are both held on $500,000 bail. a third person was also arrested in this case. 30-year-old dorene sanchez, she is said to be the sister of suspect louie sanchez and either the girlfriend or the wife of norwood. she was picked up as being a suspicion of being an accessory, officials believe she was the getaway driver. stow remains here at sf general in serious condition. laura, the bay area certainly not forgetting about bryan stow. i went to the giants game at at&t park friday night.

i saw many fans that had nicely printed tee shirts in support of bryan stow that read "stow fan." it was a nice sight to see. >> i don't think any one will forget him or this story. it's 6:04. new this morning the man accused of killing 93 people and a bombing is in a courtroom in oslo, norway. a judge kept the arraignment hearing behind closed doors. the hearing ended about a half hour ago. the suspect requested a public hearing so he could give his reasons behind the killings. he prepared a speech for his day in court before he even launched the attacks. he confessed to the bombing and shooting at a children's summer camp on friday. >> the man accused of murdering a san jose woman, dumping her body, is expected in court. 47-year-old feliciano valencia santiago is expected to enter a plea. court documents show he

confessed to killing 46-year-old maria orozco. her body was found in front of a home on june 5. in addition to the confession, they have physical evidence that links santiago to the crime. >> an overnight shooting leave as man dead and another injured in east palo alto, this as the community is dealing with a surge in violent crime. christie smith joins us live with more. >> reporter: good morning. this is still a very active crime scene with police going back and forth behind the building gathering evidence. we've seen them taking pictures all morning from an all too familiar scene. a shooting. someone opened fire on two young men standing outside on the far side of the building there. in the parking lot around 10:30 last night the victims just 18 and 19 years old. one died at the scene on east bayshore road that is still

closed. the other taken to a hospital and expected to be okay. police releasing no suspect information yet. this is the latest in a jump in violence in east palo alto. the sixth homicide this year, the third one this month. police have announced a sum are violence reduction plan targeting crime hot spots, gangs and drugs, what's behind this latest shooting, police have suspicions but can't say for sure. >> at this point in the very gags we're still trying to determine that. we're trying to determine what the motive is. we don't know that it's gang related but we don't know that it's not. >> this comes at the same time when police plan a media briefing to talk about three suspects or persons of interest in two recent killings. one of those persons of interest we're told is already in custody on an unrelated charge.

reporting live, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> thank you, christie. four middle school boys are expected to head to trial today accused of sexually assaulting two girls during a class field trip. the the class was visiting a park in redwood city in march when prosecutors say the boys broke away from the group before the attack. the boys are all between the ages of 12 and 14 years of age. they are charged with lewdness, sexual battery and false imprisonment. each could face up to 15 years behind bars if convicted. a mother of four is set for trial accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy. sara cole is charged with three felony counts. the boy's parents got police involved after seeing disturbing text messages on his phone.

a teen from richmond is coming home after surviving a bear attack in the alaskan wilderness. a bear attacked a group of campers over the weekend including victor martin from richmond. they were crossing a river 120 miles north of anchorage. martin and the rest were finishing up a survival skills course when the bear attacked. the teens said when they were crossing the river those in the front screamed about a bear coming towards them. the two teens in the front got the worst of the attack. they are in a hospital with life threatening injuries. martin called his family shortly after being rescued. >> he said the bear had chased him and he fell down and started kicking, all he could do is kick and pray. >> in all the bear mauled seven teenage boys but they are all still alive. after the attack the teens set up camp and calling for help.

the rangers say the bear was likely trying to defend her cub. city leaders in palo alto will consider increasing the trash bill by $5 to help offset a shortfall in the city's fund. the plan calls for a one-year extension of a 6% rate hike for residential customers and 9% for commercial customers. the city's landfill closes permanently this week and won't bring in more revenue. the city must still pay for the cost. the increase could generate $2 million a year. new this morning there is word that the nfl lockout is over. the associated press reports that two people close to the negotiations tell that players and owners reached a deal. the sources didn't give their names. the process is supposed to be secret. no formal announcement has been made. there are reports some team

>> good monday morning. 6:16 now. the two men accused of brutally beating giants fan bryan stow at dodgers stadium will be in court today which means we may get our first look at the men that police say stand out as prime suspects. thanks to fans at the game that night. john cadiz klemack from our nbc station in los angeles joins us live this morning with more on what we can expect in court today. >> reporter: hey, good morning to you. lapd doing a lot of investigating in this, as you mentioned, a lot of the witnesses were able to come forward and give some details as to what they remember from opening night, even did a re-enactment at the stadium a few weeks ago to try to get more information in all of this.

now they do have new suspects behind bars. i want to show you court documents, these go into graphic detail as to what allegedly happened. according to these, and i'm going to quote the suspects cut and disabled the tongue, put out an eye and slit the nose, ear and lip of bryan stow. these suspects are marvin norwood and louie sanchez. they face 8 to 9 years in prison. dorene sanchez is charged as accessory to the crime. she posted bail on friday. you might think with all of the publicity seating an impartial jury may be a challenge. that's what both sides will have to face as they move forward in charging the suspects. the former suspect ramirez is cleared. he is in prison, of course, facing a parole violation. he has nine months on that sentence. for the suspects today, they face the judge for the first time at 8:30 this morning.

that's the latest. john cadiz klemack. back to you. >> thank you, john. 6:17. breaking news that we continue to follow this morning. a terminal at jfk airport in new york is shut down after a suspicious bag is found. police shut down an american airlines terminal as they investigate that bag. it was brought to their attention by a bomb sniffing dog conducting routine screening, gave a big alert. it supposedly belonged to a man who was screened and boarded a flight headed to san francisco. he left the bag in the business class lounge so. authorities so far have closed the check-in desk, the screening check point and the roadway to the terminal as a precaution now. the story certainly developing and we'll give you any updates as they become available. it's 6:18. time to check the forecast now with meteorologist christina loren. >> back to work monday, we've

got a foggy start. this fog is going to make for a comfortable afternoon. temperatures only climbing into the low 80s even in the warmest cities across the bay. we're watching for fog, watching that visibility drop up in the north bay. you still have 10 miles of visibility down in the south bay, east bay looking good and livermore, 10 miles there. along the peninsula, san francisco to oakland you can see for ten miles, then napa and santa rosa, this is where we start to see the numbers fall. if you are getting ready to hit the front door in the north bay you want to take it easy out there. you may not see that fog when you walk out your front door president but likely you will encounter dense patches on the way to work. cool conditions provided by onshore flow as the system of low pressure sits to our north. this is going to keep things comfortable the first part of the week. high pressure is over the four corners region. that's going to warm us up and drive up some of this monsoonal moisture so we could see thunderstorms as we head through the second half of the week. we get the seven-day in moments.

accident westbound 80, around gilman causing a tie-up on the east shore freeway. over the next minutes probably a 25-minute drive off of the carquinez bridge. here is the slowdown approaching. the good news if there is any is that the motorcycle driver reported up and walking around at the scene. that is good news. we do have now two -- wait. three lanes blocked by the freeway service patrol and the fire crew. we have at least a motorcycle and sounds like another vehicle involved. the driver of that motorcycle walking around at the scene. hopefully that should be cleared quickly. it has been there 15 minutes doing the damage to the morning commute. slow for highway 4 westbound as you approach. slowing approaching coming through a through l and we're seeing slow drive it is through livermore, 20 minutes now, speeds around 40 miles per hour through much of the stretch. clearing after you get through

that portion of pleasanton. >> thank you, mike. 6:24. an inside job, that's what investigators call the largest high tech computer heist in bay area history. police say two of the nine bay area men arrested for the february heist of $37 million of computer chips worked at unigen corporation. 28-year-old pierre ramos of union city and 31-year-old leonardo abriam joined the company shortly before the heist. a spokesman says that the two showed up for work the day after the heist. the two along with the other defendants will appear in court on wednesday to face charges. if convicted, each could face life in prison. investigators are looking for six other people thought to be involved in that crime. >> we know facebook has been working on an ipad app but no one knew what it looked like until this morning. scott has a sneak peek. >> good morning.

dealing with a surge in violent crime as police investigate a deadly overnight shooting. "today in the bay's" christie smith with the latest. >> reporter: police are saying look likes they are going to be on scene at least two more hours gathering evidence from behind this building where someone opened firen two m ed on two me. the sixth homicide in east palo alto, the third this month alone and what mark as troubling spike in violence. police tell us they have no real suspect information on this latest shooting. we know it happened at 10:30 last night in the 1400 block of east bayshore road. the victims just 18 and 19 years old. both east palo alto residents, one died, the other taken to stanford hospital. and is expected to be okay. what's behind all of this, these

shootings, is it drug related, gang related? i spoke with the acting captain this morning. >> the east palo alto criminal division detectives are working very hard around the clock working on all of these cases, at the same time trying to determine what's going on, if they are related, and put a stop to it and hold the people accountable for their actions. >> reporter: this come at the same time that east palo alto police announced a summer violence reduction plan, really focusing on crime hot spots in the city. gang and drugs, those sort of things. also using help from other police agencies, even charging suspects in federal court where it applies. i mentioned this is the sixth homicide this year that's already well ahead of the number last year which was four for the entire year. reporting live in east palo alto, christie smith, "today in

the bay." >> a man has serious injuries after his car flipped and burst into flames. drivers on highway 1 near manor drive called chp to the scene around 11:40 last noyxt officers shut down the southbound direction of the road while fire crews pulled the driver out of the car and put out the flames. no word on what caused that car to flip over. >> a difficult week ahead for the family and friends of a palo alto family killed in a crash in canada. robert howard, his wife ana maria diaz and their daughters had started a three-week camping trip when a tractor-trailer crashed head on into their camper. the driver of the tractor-trailer reportedly walked away without injuries. we spoke to relatives in palo alto who say they are still in shock. >> it just seems impossible that a family that was so full of life could just be gone so

court documents showing gruesome details t suspects even accused of cutting stow's tongue. a third person was also arrested in this case, 31-year-old dorene sanchez, she is said to be the sister of the suspect louie sanchez. she was picked up for suspicion of being an accessory. officials bheev she was the getaway driver on march 31. she has since posted bail. as for stow he underwent emergency surgery last week after suffering a setback. he had a seizure. the good news is by the end of the week his family reported him doing remarkably better in fact on command he was able to open and close hi eyeses and even gave a nurse a thumbs up. to that we give him a thumbs up. >> it's so good to hear about his recovery and responsiveness as well. thank you very much. >> there is a young girl on the mend this morning after she was hit by a stray blurt during a

slumber party. the mother tells the chronicle her daughter is still in the hospital but doing better. on friday the girl was in bed at her cousin's home when a bullet blasted through the window and hit her just above her heart. today police should release the names of the two teens arrested in connection to that shooting. >> the fatal shooting of a knife-wielding homeless man by b.a.r.t. police officer will receive extra scrutiny. bart's commit will review the shooting. this is surveillance video at the shooting released on thursday. b.a.r.t. says 45-year-old charles hill was shot and killed after he attacked officers with a knife and open bottle. 6:38. time to check the forecast with meteorologist christina loren. kind of foggy. how long is it going to hold? >> we've got a couple days of

nice weather but overcast condition this is morning all the way from the coast through your inland valleys. you're going to find mostly cloudy skies but they won't last all day long. we'll get to the forecast. you can see from your live picture, the pyramid socked in with fog. let's show you from your future cast what we're expecting as we head throughout the city of san francisco. by about noon, 60 degrees, a full deck of clouds and i think that as we head throughout the second half of the day, a breeze picks up we'll see the clouds break apart. 63 at 4:00 p.m. breezy conditions, we're not talking about full sunshine, we're talking about a mix of sun and clouds even in the heat of the day. when it comes to your inland valleys in the south bay, mostly cloudy through about 930. the sun will come out and the wind pick up as we have a tight pressure 80 yent. the two working against each other. that means we're going to see a little bit of wind. 77 degrees in san jose.

80 in gilroy. your seven-day outlook is here. 85 degrees is the forecast high. 90 on thursday. up to 96 on sunday. so we're looking forward, yeah, warmer weather. a few nice days first. >> that 96 could change. right? we hope. out to the roadways where this we hope will change but unfortunately in the last few minutes this has changed for the worse. the motorcycle accident, i circled the area to watch. then in that backup we had another accident. two more issues for the area. debris and potentially an accident, someone may have that around san pablo. the bottom i added the incident there. 880 at 80 off of the 880 overcrossing. that is an accident as well approaching. but at the toll, antioch also lighter so we have benefits to some of that slowing. watch that fog as well.

we're a little more than a week from deadline day and the president and congress have until next tuesday to reach a deal to increase the country's debt limit. tracie potts joins us live from washington. markets are open. lack of a debt deal having an impact so far? >> a little bit of an impact so far. nothing devastating. we first saw with the asian markets, then the european markets early this morning. now that we've seen the opening bell the dow, the s&p, the nasdaq, all down just under 1%, nothing devastating but clearly they are concerned. here's the bottom line. no deal because republicans want to do the step by step, cutting a trillion dollars, then coming back to deal with this in six months or so. democrats and the white house say no, we need to do something that's going to last until 2013 and that is the crux of the deadlock at this point. more meetings expected today.

clock struck midnight sunday morning. new york becomes the sixth state and largest state to sanction gay unions. >> it can be on the record as being a family and get all of the rights we deserve. >> thousands of people attended protest rallies against same-sex marriages in three cities across new york yesterday. people at those rallies say state lawmakers redefined marriage without letting voters have their say. new this morning, there is word that the nfl lockout is over. the associated press reports that two people close to the negotiations say that players and owners have reached a deal. sources didn't give their names because the process is supposed to be secret and no formal announcement has been made. there are reports that some teams could let players report by wednesday. the raiders and 9ers are scheduled to start their training camps this weekend so everything could happen right on schedule. we'll keep you posted. >> the a's, baseball, will be

expect for you later on today. i think the cloud deck will last in the east bay and the south bay until about 9:30 a.m. we're talking about well through noon in san francisco. you'll be plagued with low clouds about it it will keep you cooler and will likely mean a cheaper pg&e bill. we're looking forward a nice couple of days. this month has been much cooler than average. we've got more of the same of that for you today, tomorrow into wednesday. mostly cloudy making way to sunshine later on in the afternoon. we'll see a pretty good breeze later on today. i think through the east bay hills, yeah, likely going to see strong winds as we have high pressure to our south and low pressure to our north. by early this week, temperatures stay mild and then things start to change. big ridge of high pressure moves into the area. this guy's going to warm us up all the way through the weekend. we consistently climb so we're looking toward big changes

motorcycle accident. the driver was sitting up at the scene. no word on specifics but that person was responsive and now this accident has cleared from the roadway. the original one. but the backup because of the accident at cleveland avenue, debris at san pablo and a newer accident involving a big rig happened near the toll plaza. so this may mean other slowing although they have not turned on the metering lights at the toll plaza. 45-minute drive and building over the next few off of the carquinez bridge to the toll plaza. expect that the change as the traffic flow shifts and the accident at gilman has cleared. 27 minutes around the heart of livermore, over toward airway, 32-minute drive. no major issues aside from northbound 101 at tully. then a live shot, erin murphy is on the roadway. and the peninsula is starting to pick up the flow. >> thank you. 6:54.

the failure to pass key faa bills on capitol hill could have lasting effects here in the bay area. transportation secretary ray lahood will talk about what will happen now that some faa funding and taxes have lapsed. scores of airport construction projects have been delayed because congress failed to pass new legislation on friday. one of the projects at risk is at oakland airportment it was supposed to get about $3 million for construction including pavement work. some airline taxes have also lapsed. you would think that would mean airline passengers will get tax breaks on fares until new legislation is passed but airlines are not letting people slide. u.s. airways and american have raised their fares to offset the tax savings. the taxes added up to about $25 or more on a typical $30 round trip ticket. other airlines saying they have not raised their prices. the first time in a very long

time california does not lead the continental u.s. in the most expensive gas. that goes to connecticut. $4.04 a bit unusual since california usually is at the top only trumped by hawaii. in california the average price for a gallon ever regular unleaded is at $3.80. it is still up 68 cents from this time last year. in the bay area the prices range from 3.82 in san jose and oakland and 3.90 in san francisco. got to try to find a good deal where you can. music sales have been dropping about the last ten years but today the industry is celebrating the fact that so far sales are up compared to last year. experts say new acts are fueling the surge. they say that shows people responding to artists not prefabricated. they like real music and great voices. people seem to be replacing
