>> good morning. i'm scott mcgrew. it's 4:30. let's go to meteorologist christina loren. good morning. >> i say good morning, christina. >> say good morning to you as well but can you hear me now? >> we can hear you. >> sounds more sultry. i think you'll notice the difference from yesterday. temperatures about 4 to 5 degrees warmer, we've got a good thick layer out there, the marine layer is deeper so more fog picking up a little bit of moisture on the satellite imagery and radar so watch out. might find drizzle. overall looking pretty good so far. the fog is not that thick. we'll take you through your full forecast. let's get you to work on time. >> the radar in the south, might be drizzle as you leave. construction is the main concern. we had an emergency closure northbound 880 as you come up toward 237. approaching dixon landing road.

a full closure but i saw the trucks moving so it should be cleared. you see slowing, scott, approaching the scene. the bright lights as they shut them down until they are gone. back to you. >> thank you. b.a.r.t. as you know issued a barning to riders be prepare forward disruptions in service by what b.a.r.t. is calling anarchists like the one last month. christie smith is live in san francisco. boy, they don'ts like these protesters. >> reporter: not at all. b.a.r.t. riders have been here before. it was mid july when protesters swarmed the civic center station. they were protesting a shooting. those same protesters say they are planning another action for early august, sort of a vague timeline of when but the group is no justice no b.a.r.t. it came together following the b.a.r.t. police shooting of what was said to be a knife-wielding man, 45-year-old charles hill.

they say they still want justice and accountability. nearly 100 protesters disrupted evening service, b.a.r.t. had to temporarily suspend service at that station. it had a ripple effect. now with word of another action looming on its website b.a.r.t. is saying protesters may try to disrupt service as early as today in downtown san francisco, saying as always b.a.r.t.'s primary mission is to ensure your safety and keep our trains on time. b.a.r.t. may need to close some stations temporarily or make other service adjustments on short notice. it advises riders to have alternate plans just in case but also gives information on where you can keep up with whether b.a.r.t. trains are on time or not. reporting live, christie smith, "today in the bay." >> let me catch you for a second. this is sort of a silly question. you don't know when the protests are going to be.

but are they going to be in the morning or the evening even though we don't know what day? >> reporter: that is a terrific question. i think probably the element of surprise is a big issue. what b.a.r.t. is saying is as early as today it could happen. it doesn't mean that it will happen today. >> fair enough. thank you. we're in the midst of a historic mood swing and the mood this morning on the markets a mixture again. european stocks rebounding, britain's footsie up 2%. the dax up 2.5%. asian markets mixed. hong kong higher. the nikkei lower. one says the markets grew too fast. the adjustment is normal. >> america is very sound and the markets are going to be sound and will be back to normal before you know it. >> he says the big worry is how can venture capitalists find their payoff if the companies

they invest in aren't going to ipo in this ugly environment. the man accused of running down a 9-year-old boy in san francisco will be facing a judge this morning. police say the 21-year-old, andrew vargas, was drunk when he ran into ryan white after a giants game. the community rallying around white who is at the hospital with several fractured bones and traumatic head injury. at a fund-raiser raising more than $6,000 for white's family. white's cousin told us supporters and -- told us and supporters the 9-year-old is recovering. >> you can tell at this point that even though he's uttering a few words here and there that he knows what's going on. there is a lot going on behind those eyes. he is regaining strength. >> the family will remain in san francisco till ryan can be moved to a medical center in pennsylvania. lefty o'doole's will continue raising money for the family on their charity website kids need

baseball.com. the two men accused of beating bryan stow have pleaded not guilty though police say they confessed. the two charged yesterday with mayhem and assault in connection with the march 31st attack on stow. cops say sanchez was overheard confessing to the attack in jail and norwood confessed during an interview. sanchez' attorney says he is wading through the evidence. >> there's a lot to go through. audiotapes, videotapes, documents, photos. there's a lot of stuff to go through. i want to make sure i go through it thoroughly and give my client the best possible representation. >> prosecutors say sanchez had physical confrontations with at least three other fans, facing battery charges from those incidents. the woman accused of driving the two away from the crime will not be charged. prosecutors don't think that dorene sanchez knew what her

brother and her boyfriend had done. the paper says she didn't find out about the attack until later and cooperated with police when interviewed. >> meanwhile, the family of missing nursing student michelle le will hold another fund-raiser today. the chevy's at stonestown mall will did nate 25% of the bill. le disappeared, police think she was murdered. the family not giving up. they offer a $100,000 reward for her return. police say they have a person of interest but haven't made an arrest. >> the field of candidates running to be san francisco's next mayor getting more crowded. supervisor tony hall will file candidacy papers, he has 35 years political experience in the city, a life long independent he was elected to district 7 supervisor in 2000. 2004 he was appointed to

executive director of the treasure island development authority. though hall is running he will not be at tonight's mayoral debate. only nine of the 30 people running for mayor will be at the african-american art and culture complex tonight at 6:00. among them michaela alioto, david chu, ed lee, joanna rees and leland yee. let's check in with christina. >> good morning. too bad we can't tack the name scott mcgrew on the list. we're looking good this morning. we having fog out there. watch out for that. it's dense up in the santa rosa area. only about a mile and a half of visibility at this time. we expect the number to drop. it's a chilly start in places like novato, 46 degrees. something different from yesterday we have more fog out there but i don't think it's going to penetrate that far

street had a dramatic impact on the number of companies going public. eight of 11 that were going to go public have canceled. one has slashed its deal size to get it done. let's turn to courtney reagan. good morning. >> good morning to you. yeah, it has been quite a volatile week. you might want to strap yourself in because it could be another volatile day on wall street futures were sharply higher following another huge sell-off on wednesday. but now we have definitely parred back the gains after europe hit session lows. they still have a couple of hours left to trade. yesterday the markets erased all of tuesday's gains and then some. stocks were lower by financials, bank of america fell 11% on recession worries and losses in europe. the markets there were rocked by rumors that france could be next to use its aaa credit rating. gold a safe haven hit a record of $1800 an ounce before pulling back.

analysts say the huge moves we've seen suggest emotions are playing a pretty big factor. the dow plunged to 10,719. the dow has lost more than 2,000 points over the past 14 sessions, and the nasdaq shed 101, to 2381. fewer homes received foreclosure notices. realty track says the number of notices fell 7% from june and for% from a year ago. but the slowdown isn't due to an improving housing market. experts say it's a result of delays in processing foreclosure documents and banks reluctant to take over properties while there is a glut of unsold homes on the market. scott. >> thank you very much. let's turn to christina loren at 4:46. i say good morning to you. >> and i said good morning to you. good sir.

we're looking raelt good where you can see still have down to a mile and a half visibility in santa rosa. 10 miles elsewhere, we expect the fog to creep in. especially along the coast as we wake up the next couple of hours that will get worse before it gets better but yesterday we had such a nice afternoon we didn't see all that much fog even the city of san francisco, today a little bit more. the sun will shine through by 11:00 a.m. asship starting to warm us up. we still do, though, have the onshore flow firmly in place. that means the cool marine air will push in. it's chilly in novato, 46 degrees, 53 santa rosa, 55 in san francisco this morning. headed to about 57 by noon. you can see from the contour map, we are expecting more fog to hang around a little longer than it did yesterday. however, it's not going to penetrate as far inland as it did and that means places like fairfield, yeah, a little warmer for you. close to 90. 87 degrees the forecasted high. and the closer you live to the
