combing the nebraska crash site where nine people were killed friday when a stunt plane crashed into a crowd of spectators. stunning new video taken by a spectator shows the tragedy as it happened. officials say they've already recovered key flight data and what could be an inflight video from the wreckage. nbc's jay gray has our report. >> reporter: as investigators continue sifting through the wreckage in reno, they've located clues that could ultimately help to explain the tragedy. >> there was a camera identified, video camera. fragments were found, memory cards have been identified. all of those will be going to the laboratory in d.c. to determine if they have any video images from the actual aircraft. >> ntsb officials hope to pull important evidence from an on board data recorder. >> the aircraft recording system recorded the data in two ways, on memory card but it's

transmitted by telemetry to the crew. >> reporter: part of the tail section looks like it's missing which could have caused pilot jimmy leeward to lose control. >> shock. absolute shock. never dreamed that something like this would happen to someone that you know. >> reporter: leeward and eight spectators died in the crash, including john crate, who his family believes he protected his son and two friends who survived. >> he probably sheltered his son. that's the kind of guy he was. a very, very good dad, very good husband, very in love with my sister. >> reporter: emotions just like the questions that continue to linger after the tragic crash. jay gray, nbc news. elsewhere this morning,

president obama will unveil a deficit reduction plan that calls for an increased tax rate for those making more than $1 million a year. but republicans opposed to any tax hikes whatsoever are calling the president's suggestions dead on arrival. nbc's tracie potts joins us from washington with more on this. good morning. >> reporter: lynn, good morning. taxes, the president today will propose a plan that he says should cut nearly $4.5 trillion from the deficit over the next decade. but here is the catch. the rich have to pay more within $1.5 trillion in tax changes, including the exposedly called buff et rule, meaning that the rich would never pay a smalls proportion of their income in taxes as the middle class. also, the bush tax cuts would end for couples making over $250,000. the president will propose closing loopholeses for corporate jets and big oil companies. the reaction? john boehner heading the republicans on the house side suggesting that this will

probably never make it through the house. the gop says that taxing the job creators will actually cut jobs. now, the other big portion of this is medicare. the president will not propose raising the age for eligibility for medicare, but he will propose some cuts that would mainly affect doctors and hospitals. lynn. >> tracie potts for us there in washington, thanks so much. now here's a look at other stories making news early today in america. saturday, the skies over west virginia saw the tragic ending of an air show. spectators watched in horror as one plane crashed and burst into flames while attempting to perform an acrobatic maneuver. the pilot died on impact and investigators are still looking into the cause. life imitated art in oklahoma this weekend. at least one tornado touched down which was the film location for the movie, "twister."

unlike the hollywood version, this storm didn't cause any major imagery. >> friday night lights turned into a night of fights. a melee erupted in the fourth quarter after two players began fighting at the end of a play. disciplinary action for a total of 12 players from both schools are pending. for just one day, the public was given a rare glimpse into a top secret relic into the cold war. a hexagon spy satellite was declassified and put on display from 1971 to 1986 the government's spy tool, nick named big bird carried out surveillance missions from space photograph images of the former soviet union, china and other targets around the world. now for a look at your national and regional weather, here's meteorologist ryan philips with the forecast. good morning to you, ryan. >> good morning. >> did you bring some of that warmth from miami?

delayed because a judge who is needed to sign off on bail paperwork is on vacation. the lawyer for the men tells nbc news the judge is out until tuesday. in yemen, government forces opened fires on tens of thousands of anti-government protesters, killing at least 26. the attack was the deadliest in months on demonstrators demanding their president step down. a magnitude 6.9 earthquake has rocked northeastern india killing at least 60 people. the full extent of the damage is not known because remote areas have been cut off by mudslides triggered by the quake. a man shots his wife in florida and killed a pastor and associate pastor during services at a nearby church. church goers managed to tackle the gunman and wrestle his gun away. twin girls who were born fused at the head have been successfully separated in

the s&p went up 6 points. the nasdaq added 15. taking a look at overseas trading this morning, in tokyo, the nikkei rose 195 points but in hong kong, the hang seng dropped 537. for wall street to keep up its current winning streak, big ben and the fed hold the key as to where stocks are head this week. the s&p 500 posted just under a 5.5% gain last week. the nasdaq gained over 6% and the dow rose just under 5%. for stocks to click like that this week, investors hope the federal reserve will take dramatic steps to revive the economy during tuesday and wednesday. most analysts think a big bond buy, a qe3 is a long shot. wall street will look for clear signs european leaders will follow through on their new urgency to tackle the debt crisis.

lasted just three quarters. the eagles quarterback knocked out of the game when he hit his head on his own player and left the game with a concussion. eagles had the lead, but the falcons had the momentum. matt ryan to a career high four touchdowns. falcons won a grudge match, 45- -- 35-31. patriots tom brady picked up where he left off last week. now has seven tds in two games. new england won easily, 35-21. cam newton had a spectacular game, but just like last week, not enough. packers won it, 30-23. red skins have been a pleasant surprise this season, clawed and scratched their way to a victory. game winning field goal in the final minutes. red skins won it, 22-21. san francisco, tough start for tony romo. blind-sided in the second quarter, left the game with two fractured ribs and returned late

comedy actor emmy and big film names won emmys, as well. kate winslet won best actress. martin scorsazie won. directing boardwalk empire. and for the knight straight year, the daily show with jon stewart won for best variety, music or comedy. the night was not without controversy. of course not, right? alec baldwin pulled out of the broadcast after fox rerecorded a taped spot to open the show, replacing baldwin and his joke he told about newscorp's recent phone hacking scandal. of course, fox is owned by newscorp. finally, in movie news, the 3d lion king opened at the top box spot this weekend way above expectations with $29.3 million. back to the emmys for a moment, did you get a chance to see

in taiwan, a declaration of victory is music to the ears. over 4,500 students set a new world record as the most people playing violin in concert. wearing matching uniforms, the group of students played three musical numbers in unison for five minutes. local officials say they're happy to see so many young people taking an interest in music. it's that time of year ago to raise your glass or pint for octoberfest. organizers expect hundreds of thousands of sausages to be consumed and plenty of refreshments to wash them down.

folks in chicago went to great heights for a good cause or came down from great heights. 27 stories, to be exact. at the third annual skyline plunge over 100 participants repelled down the side of a skyscraper to raise money for respiratory health, and it certainly does raise your heart rate just watching the plunge. i have a big fear of heights, so i'd be out there on footing. >> it would have been nice if they gave them some squeegees to wash some windows on their way down, as well. >> kill two birds. i don't know if i should go with that metaphor that height but i went for it. time now for an early look at some of the stories we'll follow throughout the day here on nbc. senator daniel innoway will accept a set of commerative coins on behalf of congress in celebration of the establishment of the medal of honor 150 years ago. the coins will go on permanent display at the u.s. capital visitor's center. the senator was awarded the
