lights on. we'll show you where the backup has started for the friday commute and slowdown. >> now we begin with a threat against a school in martinez. in this case the the district is pulling out all the stops to protect the students. christie smith has more on the aggressive response by the school and by police. good morning, christi. >> good morning, marla. happy friday. a spokesperson for the school district is on his way here now to talk with us. they're billion really pro active after getting an unsettling e-mail threat that somebody something would happen on campus here today. first thing this morning teachers will meet to talk about safety protocol. exactly what the threat is is still unclear. a district employee received it wednesday in an e-mail.

police think it was randomly sent to that worker. martinez police are working very hard to find whoever owns the e-mail account. they say so far they have nothing to suggest this is a credible threat. the district decided to go ahead with classes. they said the goal of these threats is to just disrupt classes. the district went on ahead and made calls to parents letting them know extra police and administrators will be here today for the students, making them feel safe. they have an emergency plan in place just in kasz. one coordinator i spoke with briefly said for a lot of student who is go here, this is really a home away from home. i have calls into the police deemt. as soon as i hear from them i'll

let you know what they had to say. >> a teenage boy in police custody connected with a shooting that injured a 5-year-old girl. he was arrested on wednesday after responding to reports of suspicious activity. when they ran his information, they found he was wanted for a september 20th shooting in bay view district. that's when two men got in a shootout and a 5-year-old girl was caught in the cross fire. u.c. berkeley is trying to get out free vaccinations. the university says it has seven confirmed cases of the illness. the health center held a free vaccination clinic yesterday, vaccinating about 1,000 people. today's clinic will last from noon to 6:00. >> it's 6:04. >> people have been camping out

we're expecting mostly cloudy conditions between 11:00 a.m. you can see the camera has a shake to it. we have a little bit of a breeze. the breeze will increase throughout the afternoon. but not strong enough to keep the blimp down when it comes to bob redell. nice visibility this morning. ten miles or better across the board. tomorrow morning we'll see the deep pockets of fog. count on a pretty strong round of fog tomorrow and that will increase for sunday. this area of low pressure was just starting to move to the south a little bit. it's expected to take a ride on the the jet stream. you can see the jet stream here. this is ou river of air that carries your low pressure systems from the west to the east across america. we won't see any impact from 11:00 to 5:00.

bilbray lumber company is going to open the doors for the last time today. the owners say they have to close because they can't make ends meet during the building slump. participants in oakland hold a rally over proposed school cuts. they'll be outside the elementary school at 8:30 this morning. they're upset about a letter from the district saying a majority will be turned to combined grade classes.

investigators say the fire broke out around midnight. four units were affected. investigators don't know the extent of the damage. no one was hurt, but three people are looking for somewhere else to stay today. the cause of the fire is under investigation. and concord fire crews also busy overnight. they were called to a one-alarm fire last night. two elderly people had to be to take on the hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation. we're keeping an eye on a threat to a school in martinez. it has yet to be determined if for threat is credible. but the school and police are taking an aggressive approach to tracking down the person responsible all while making sure nothing disrupts the class. good morning, christie.

>> good morning, marla. the school district is really going the extra mile. we had our television truck parked in front. they asked us to move to the side so it's more like a normal day. the police department is trying on the find whoever sent this e-mail on wednesday. a threat that something would happen today. martinez police are trying to find the owner of the e-mail account. getting court orders for a search warrant and working with an internet service provider to identify the person. police say they have no information that this is a credible threat. but they're going to provide extra eyes and ears. police pointed out often times the goal of the threats is to disrupt classes and in the end they can be unfounded.

so participants got calls letting them know what's going on. teachers will have a meeting the first thing in the morning. i spoke briefly with a district coordinator who said for a lot of kids who go to school here, this is a home away from home. >> the feds holding true to their promise and raiding california pot clubs the latest to be hit is north stone organics. they were raided despite having a permit to grow medical pot from the county sheriff's office. 99 plants were seized. the move comes less than a week after the u.s. justice department announced it would be cracking down on medical marijuana. >> a leaky gas pipeline caused an explosion at a cupertino

apartment complex. the pipe was involved in an explosion in august. no one was hurt. it was also involved in a gas like that caused this fire to break out and burn for almost 12 hours. they say this pipe is part of the distribution lines that deliver gas to home and business ls. >> solyndra back at an all new set of hearings. they say the negative publicity can hurt the taxpayers. >> republicans are looking at the failed loan deal. we have live pictures of the hearing itself. there's a lot of things going on here. solyndra is claiming all of the negative publicity means they're
