it's a ladies day plus mike. >> i'm marla tellez in for jon kelley. i want to get a look at the weekend forecast. >> good morning. we made it. we finally made it to friday. we actually have a really good looking forecast for you. i'm can going to call it a final blast of summer. we're not going to be quite as warm as the summertime temperatures. but warm enough to hit the beach. in addition wel we'll see offshore flow. although the temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s, you'll get completely clear conditions. this morning we have watching for thick fog. a mostly cloudy start across the area. we have the friday forecast, the weekend forecast. and also we're watching for fire weather. >> the fog is an advisory from chp as well. highway 12 off interstate 80. we're looking to the south bay from construction as well. pointing out two spots. 880 off 101. that might have crews still

there. the detour should be clearing. at the bottom of the screen. 87 onto 85 autoof san jose you'll have construction at that ramp. detour should be clearing in 20, guys. >> thank you very much, guys. this morning after ten days of demonstration, occupy oakland protests are ordered to pack up and go home. >> good morning to you. we have. we've been speaking with protesters walking around the perimeter this morning. they're very well aware of the notice to vacate. i've asked if they had any plans to leave voluntarily and the answer we're getting is no with protesters say they pay too. they posted on the website from the city administrator's office that they need to leave.

saying the city could no longer hold health and safety. this is the movement with others going on across the kungt over financial inequality. the city is saying there are too many problems out here, including a growing problem with rats, food, violence and intimidation. one protesters said she hasn't seen all this. when i asked her if they would leave, here's what she had to say. >> well, i mean, it was just intimidation tactic. basically that doesn't work anymore. we've been intimidated for years. >> you don't think anybody will leave? >> we're not going anywhere. >> so the bottom line according to the city is that protesters will be allowed out here on the plaza from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. but they don't want overnight camping. letter sent was not specific about when people would have to leave or when they might be forced to leave.

they go have protesters stationed at the corners. they say they are looking for police but they haven't seen many at this point. >> 5:03 this morning. a young man is behind bars in connection with a triple murder an an east beta too pa lor. 20-year-old paul stevenson iii is expected of the killing three people and trying to kill four others at the party near a warehouse in san leandro. stevenson matched a suspect sketch released days after the shooting. right now a $10,000 reward is being offered for the second shooting suspect. the police are not releasing much of a description. this morning pg&e is denying it put junk pipe in the ground.

but they say state records prove otherwise. they found evidence that they installed salvaged or junked transmission pipe between 1948 and 198 # 46. many of those lines are still in use. that raises serious safety concerns. pg&e says it was common in past decades and pipes would be cleaned and inspected before being reused. they also say it's dealing with any risks posed by salvage pipe there is tu testing problems. this morning keeping an eye on after a fault line hit the bay area: the first quake happened yesterday afternoon. a number of aftershocks followed. the largest, a 3.9. thafts just after 8:00 last night.

they've been watching this for more than 40 years now. they say of all the places along the fault, this is the most likely place for a pair of quakes. these two events are not an indication of the big one. >> it's not common. it's very not very unusual. so it's not reason for undo alarnl, and people just need to get prepared for the big one that will eventually come in the east bay. >> we spoke to plenty of students who reported feeling the shaking in libraries and other buildings on campus. the fault line runs right under memorial stadium at uc berkeley. as we speak it is closed for retrofitting. it's scheduled to reopen next year. bart stopped the trains for a short time for safety inspections. so far, though, no damage or injuries are reported as a result of the quakes.

interchange. a little blip all the way on the right side of your screen. further south, 680 looks nice through sunol. with a light volume of traffic in fremont and south bay with no major slowing all the way to san jose. we'll track it. back to you. an east bay bride will be walking down the aisle with unexpected guests cheering them on. >> they are going ahead with their wedding at city hall amid the occupy movement. they will tie the knot this afternoon their wedding won't exactly have the backdrop they probably envisioned. they'll have a lot more witnesses than they planned now that occupy oakland tent city sprung up. but they're not complaining. >> i'm a very humble woman. that's why i chose the city hall from the beginning instead of paying for a wedding and all of

san francisco's controversial cell phone radiation law will not into into effect on tuesday as planned. they are delaying the start date until a federal judge rules on the cell phone industry's request to block the law. cell phone stores are required to put up posters about cell phone radiation. it's the first right to know law that targets consumers. they say they are alarmists

bagsed on opinion and not facts. silicon valley is getting a second area code to accommodate the growing population. current customers won't have to change their existing phone numbers, but everyone's dialing habits will have to change when you call any number within the 408-area code, you have to dial plus the phone number. the new area code will be given out in november of next year. >> we have gridlock on capitol hill plus sweetening the pot when it comes to real estate. but first breaking news from groupon. let's turn to bertha coombs who is live at cnbc headquarters for the very latest. >> good morning, ladies. groupon offering a discount. last spring there was talks of raising it to $50 million. now they scaled it back to $475

million. they're looking to offer shares at 16 do $18 a share. in the offering note letter to shareholders, ceo andrew mason says the company is growing its revenues, but the costs are too high to hold onto business. still not profitable. he warns there will be moments of brilliance and sheer stupidity ahead. buyer beware if you're looking for the ipo. a lack of u.s. economic news today. it's going to be quiet overall. we had futures pointing higher. good earnings out of mcdonald's. ge was in line. and we are hearing from washington some folks trying to help out when it comes to real estate. two u.s. senators introducing a bill on thursday that would grant foreigners a u.s. visa if they invest $500,000 or more in cash in housing here in the united states. supporters say the plan could soak up excess inventory

52 in livermore this morning. 58 in sunnyvale. we also have really thick fog up in santa rosa through the napa valley. looking good along the peninsula. expecting the fog to roll in from 7:00 to 9:00. future cast shows you we stop the clock at 11:00. you can see we're still dealing with cloud cover over san francisco. but getting clearing much earlier than we did yesterday. your temperatures will be warmer as a result. i put 80s back on the map for you. 80 in concord. 79 in los gatos and 72 in santa cr cruz. through next week the focus shifts to fire danger. and for us, that means 80s inland. upper 80s and 70s near the coast on wednesday. in addition to this that, dry and breezy weather will continue. if you want to hit the beach, you can do so on sunday, mike. that means a lot of traffic over

facebook creator mark zuckerberg is the world's youngest billionaire. he's quickly become one of silicon's valley most recognizable faces. now the ceo reportedly hired a 24-hour personal security team to protect him and his new home in palo alto. zuckerberg had to deal with stalkers getting a little too close. this year he took out a restraining order against one man who he says was harassing him at his home and facebook headquarters. the new security team will also keep away the pesky reporters like this one, bob redell. he posted a like sign on zuckerberg's front gate when he first moved into his new house a few months ago. creating controversy out there. this morning new information about steve jobs and his final year. the apple cofounder refused to go through surgery that could have potentially saved his life. he refused the surgery for nine

months even though his family begged him to do it. instead he opted for alternative medicine. the rare form of pancreatic cancer had spread. the book will be released next monday. well, that same book says steve jobs thought the android phone was a ripoff. >> he thought a lot of things were the a ripoff. he tells isaacson he thought the android phones were, quote, a stolen product. the head of google was on the board at apple. so that was very awkward as they were talking about these phones. here's what jobs said. i am going to destroy android. i willing to go thermonuclear war on this. ly spend my last dying breath if i need to, andly spend every penny of apple's -- then -- $40 billion in the bank to right

it was much more confrontational inside the tent city an with members of the media. this morning protesters are less concerned with us and more concerned about whether the police might be coming after they received a warning letter from the city of oakland. it was posted last night around 8:00 saying that protesters need to vacate the area at frank ogala plaza in front of city hall where occupy oakland protesters sat up a large tent city. there are at least 100 of them out there. they say that they're in support of occupy movements all across the country. they list a number of problems including more violence, assaults, threats, intimidation and a growing rat problem. and emergency crews are being denied access inside to see who was hurt.

high pressure is moving in. clear conditions at the coast. i'm going to forecast for that for sunday. still have fog in the forecast through today, tomorrow and then sunday things really start to change 49 in santa rosa. 45 in napa. it's going to take a long time before your temperatures start to warm up because the fog is so thick. watch out. at 11ing a.m. you'll see we get a lot of clearing. even in the north bay. you were socked in for the most part yesterday. your highs will be comfortable yesterday. 90s in the east bay. then monday, tuesday, wednesday, our focus shifts to the

potential for really dry, windy weather across the bay. that could make for fire weather. wednesday looks to be the worst. >> i would first put in bob redell. then maybe one day we can drive it as a team. this is probably qualified. a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. it will be running the roadway hopefully soon. still on the shoulder. not a major slow down approaching the castro valley "y" and towards san leandro. 580 with a smooth drive towards livermore. speeds into the 50s where you see the yellow. then a live look at sunol south of there. the volume builds over the hill. speeds in the 50s and 60s through that morning of your commute.

this morning reactions are pouring in on the death of moammar gadhafi. tracie potts is joining us live from washington, d.c. with what this death means for u.s. foreign policy in the u.s. we want to point out that some of the images we are about to show you are very disturbing. >> that's true. i'll reemphasize that. some of these were taken during and after the gun battle that

killed moe ma gadhafi. he was supposed to be buried today according to islamic custom. however, it's been delayed. they can't decide where to bury him. there rb celebrations in tripoli and here in washington, d.c. the big question is what about policy? what happens next? they have a transitional council with a prime minister in place. the prime minister promised free elections within eight months of toppling the government. and what happens to u.s. and nato involvement in the u.s. spent $1.5 billion in libya between military actions and diplomacy. how will that continue? the obama administering has been under criticism for not investing as much in other countries. countries like syria say where is the u.s. helping us? so a lot of questions developing as a result of the death of this

leader. >> yeah, a lot of answers we're waiting for. 5:45. in over his head. well, we now know the exotic animal owner in ohio who three open the cages at his animal preserve and then committed suicide was in deep debt. court records show terry thompson and his wife owed $68,000 to the irs and the county and had two federal tax liens filed against them last year. he had just gotten out of federal prison last month on a weapons charge. and then this week he turned dozens of lions and tigers and other animals loose. 911 tapes capture the chaos of that day. >> there's animal loose around this area. i think i just seen one. it looked like a jaguar or a wolf or something. >> sheriff deputies used high profile rifles to kill at least 50 animals.

they are now being held at the columbus zoo. >> 5:46. this morning the defense will most likely begin its case in the trial of michael jackson's doctor. before the defense calls its own witnesses, the attorneys will be allowed to cross examine dr. schaffer. yesterday he called the defense claim that jackson gave himself a fatal dose of propofol crazy. >> that is so egregious that i find it difficult to comprehend. that you could have a patient who has arrested as you call and you leave a voice message.

it's inconceivable to me. >> he said he believes jackson would still be alive if he was given proper medical care. today troubled actress lindsay lohan is getting another chance to turn things around. she's getting a chance to show up on time for her community service shift. yesterday she was turned away after she arrived 40 minutes late. lohan is already in trouble for skipping out on nine scheduled shifts at an l.a. women's shelter. she was to work 16 hours at the morgue before her next hearing in two weeks t at that hearing a judge will decide if lohan will go to jail for viling the probation. 5:47 now. how relieved are you that it's friday? christina loren is joining us with the weekend forecast. >> it is friday, finally. and just like last weekend,

we're going to get gorgeous, gorgeous weather. just in time for saturday and sunday. we got through the cold, cloudy conditions through the week. but you don't have to worry about rain. even fog won't be that much of a factor as we transition to saturday. monday, tuesday, wednesday, fog free conditions at the coast. we have a breeze here preventing the fog from settling in. calm winds and really thick patches of fog as a result. high pressure is compressing the marine layer, forcing it to the surface. so temperatures are much cooler in the north bay than anywhere else. 59 degrees, almost 60 in oakland right now. and your fog is really thick. mostly between the agricultural areas, santa rosa through the napa valley. watch out up there. that's probably going to slow you down, as mike reported earlier. the chp is also watching for
