new push to keep homeless sex offenders at bay. marla tellez is live in san francisco with more on the story. >> jon, good morning. we are standing right in front of the nondescript san francisco parole office. later this morning the state attorney general. officials with the state department of corrections as well as san francisco mayor ed lee are all going to be here talking about what is new with what's been dubbed operation bo boo. it's been around 20 years so far. on each halloween since 1994 it has imposed a curfew on sex offenders with a permanent address. it forces them to stay inside their home without any lights on. they can't put up halloween directions. they certainly can't offer candy

to kids. this year they will focus on the 2,000 sex offenders in california who are homeless. san francisco is among three of the state's four parole regions. l.a. and san diego are also doing this be tonight. you may think this could be difficult to enforce. transient offenders are required to wear jacketsful they will know if they're not in curfew centers. they are supposed to report to round-up centers. the parole office of san francisco from 5:00 to 10:00 tonight. the state department of corrections is really pushing parents to get involved. to educate themselves, to educate their kids on how to stay safe tonight in terms f sex offenders wo could be roaming the streets. they set up a very helpful link on their website.

parents you can log onto cdcr.ca.gov. search operation boo to link you to the helpful tips. a woman is in the hospital after a vta train hit her in san jose intersection last night. it happened at the intersection of capitol avenue and berry essa in san jose f it was heading into san jose when it hit the woman as she was walking across the street. five people were riding the train at the time. they were not hurt. the tracks are all clear this morning. >> it is 5:03 right now. the san francisco police department catching up on a backlog of disciplinary cases against its officers. two officers were fired.

about reports that members of the million staff would try to occupy mayor kwan's office unless medical supplies were returned. this morning they say they have supplies coming in. of course, they could always use more. the group returned to camp here at frank ogala plaza. in a statement the city said it was looking into reports of vandalism and graffiti. one demonstrator gave his name as max. he said after the raid they're feeling much more organized now that they're back. >> it means the occupy wall street movement has a lot of momentum.

a monterey man is recovering after he was attacked by a shark. he was bitten on his neck, shoulder, wrist and forearm. doctors in san jose say he's the luckiest unlucky guy they have ever met. he's expected to be released as early as today. the shark bit him on the neck, barely missing his jugular vein. shark warning signs are posted. workers say this will keep an eye on the water for the next

good morning, marla. >> laura, good morning. halloween is always a fun time for kids. can be very worrisome, though, if you're a parent. we are in front of the san francisco parole office on 12th street. this is where high ranking state officials also the mayor of san francisco will be meeting to talk about a new program designed to keep your kids safe on this halloween. it's all part of operation boo. that's the name of it. up until this point it's basically forced sex offenders in california to stay inside on halloween. it restricts them from handing out candy and halloween registrations. operation boo has a plan for them. they are to report to transient

sex offender roundup centers where they will be housed from 5:00 to 10:00 tonight. basically the time frame most kids will be out and about trick or treating. san francisco is a major city in california that is participating in the program. los angeles and san diego participating. homeless sex offenders are required to wear electronic monitors. officials can track them to make sure they're in a round-up center. that will meet here for an 11:30 press conference today to talk about the specifics. they will educate themselveses to educate their kids to keep them safe.

just search operation boo for very helpful tips. >> it really helps to go along with your kids and know where they are. >> for the fifth year in a row the castro district will not host a halloween street party. the shooting injured nine people in 2006 put a lid on any talk of hosting a party. ty officials say there will be no street closures tonight. neighborhood leaders say the street party had just become too big to manage. saying the castro district is not an appropriate venue to hold more than 200,000 people out on its streets. >> some city prvrs want a resolution to prevent the kbrus of force on the occupy protesters. one of five city prvrs who showed up in defense to the protesters on thursday morning when it was thought san francisco police were going in to raid justin herman plaza.

the city operations will consider the resolution and then pass it onto the board of supervisors. in the meantime, mayor ed lee and other supervisors are expected to meet with occupy protesters today. in santa rosa, the occupy protest remains peaceful. 100 protesters are camping outside of city hall. that move comes after the city backed off a threat to arrest anyone camping there. the city manager ordered police to stand down, allowing camping until tuesday when the city council will revisit the issue. occupy santa rosa has been operationing for just over two week weeks. >> plenty of ghost sightings this week. but will any of them be real? bob redell is live and on the lookout. good morning, bob. where you headed? >> we're at the the unofficial headquarters for the east bay

cain denies it. if it's true it could have devastating impacts on cain's campaign, which at the moment is really is soaring. tracie potts joins us live from washington, d.c. with the latest. >> he won the top spot in the des moines register iowa poll over the weekend. mitt romney just 1% behind him. what's buzzing is the allegations that politico is reporting, we have not independently confirm that had back in the '90s two women accused herman cain of inappropriate sexual behavior. they left the association reportedly with a pay out an agreement theys say they can't talk about it. a cain spokesman calls the allegations baseless, inaccurate and unsubstantiated.

speeds into the 20s for the most part from love ridge. but holding up steady through pittsburgh and concord. walnut creek moving nicely for 480 down to the 24 interchange. we'll jump down to the south bay where we're looking at the northbound direction. a nice easy flow. you see the speeds close to the limgt. the volume starting to increase 101 past 680 to the airport. nice, smooth flow there. jumping over to the san mateo bridge eastbound and over to the hayward side. we have the disabled vehicle still reported, blocking the slow lanes as you're heading east. westbound, the commute direction is just fine. and you're in the 50s coming over the water, as you should be for highway 92. and a live look shows you coming over towards the toll plaza on the okakland side, just a few cars waiting. we have a nice easy drive.
