accusations. in the face of an associated press report that a third woman from herman cain's past once considered filing a sexual harassment complaint against him, the republican presidential candidate insists he's innocent. and now cain's camp is pointing the finger at gop rival rick perry. nbc's steve handelsman has more. >> reporter: as his campaign crisis got worse, herman cain tried to cut off questions. >> are you concerned about -- >> excuse me. excuse me! >> reporter: two more people allege cain committed sexual harassment in the '90s. a woman told the associated press cain called her attractive and asked her to his corporate apartment. she told ap she considered filing a complaint but did not. kris wilson, who does work for rick perry, said he saw cain in a d.c. area restaurant in the '90s sexually harass an employee in her 20s.

in shutting down one of the nation's busiest shipping ports last night. thousands marched yesterday in what was supposed to be a peaceful general strike at the port of oakland, but tensions flared as the night war on. nbc's jay gray reports. >> reporter: the occupation grew to more than 4,000 in oakland. >> this movement is alive and well. >> reporter: and one of the largest since the nationwide protest began, moving beyond the usual park rallies to the port with protesters at one point climbing onto tractor-trailers looking to stop what they call the flow of capital. >> the world is watching oakland tonight and we need to make this a safe place for everyone. >> reporter: but what many saw early seemed to turn very ugly. renegade groups growing as the march poured through downtown oakland, shattering windows, vandalizing banks and businesses. >> the people causing the destruction and the damages are dressed distinctively wearing all black. >> reporter: according to many of the occupy protesters, not a part of what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration.

>> i don't think it's reflective of the occupy oakland movement. >> we're balancing on one hand free speech and public safety always. >> reporter: a fine line and at times a difficult balancing act in oakland. jay gray, nbc news. elsewhere this morning, president obama joins a group of leaders from the world's wealthiest nations in france for a two-day global economic conference. the president arrived in cannes for the g-20 summit this morning. while there he's faced with the delicate task of encouraging european leaders to resolve their debt crisis without appearing to lecture them given the current state of the u.s. economy. the possibility of a greek default has increased the need for the group of 20 to work together to contain the crisis. and now here's a look at other stories making news in america. a florida woman's morning got off to a rocky start after a school bus crashed into her home. the woman thought an explosion occurred after the bus tore through a fence and smashed into

her house. no injuries to the driver who was the only person on board. a pilot says he's lucky to be alive after crashing his plane into a virginia lake. the dazed pilot was pulled to safety by a nearby resident who jumped into his boat after seeing the plane in the water. over 300 chicago area children got unexpected front-row seats to the circus. officials marched their biggest performers in front of the wide-eyed students after a botched train schedule forced the elephants to walk a different route to the arena. and finally, does this man look like a legendary western outlaw? a south carolina man thinks so. he believes the $10 picture he purchased on ebay is actually a photo of billy the kid. there is only one authenticated photo of the gun slinger. but according to facial recognition experts, it is the same man in each photo.

what do you think? now for a look at your national and regional weather bill karins weighs in. >> it is close enough, i'll give him $20 for it. >> that's a 50% profit. >> that's a good profit, right? good morning, lynn. changes for the west coast. we are watching a cold front drop into the south. a lot of cold air behind it. this is going to be a big change in the weather pattern. we have been pretty mild and warm around sacramento and san francisco, but now this is what you would expect going through the la nina winter pattern heading through the month of november. usually the winters are active in the northwest being more rainy than normal, and that's the forecast going through the next couple of months. wet weather overnight in washington state and oregon. now that front is dragging to the south. there's also a little piece behind it and this we'll have to deal with on friday going throughout southern california, even los angeles gets rain with the mountains getting a couple inches of snow. notice we are getting the snow

in the cascades. they do expect showers to end shortly here in portland. there could be more this afternoon. the steadier rains near eugene and medford. temperatures are in the low 40s for many areas and it will get cooler going throughout the forecast period. there's a thunderstorm here with the instability of showers, you could get a rumble of thunder and small hail, but it won't be that big of a deal. that's 40s. even in california be prepared for temperatures in the 60s. as i mentioned it is a one/two punch with cooler temperatures to hit california tomorrow. >> thank you so much. coming up, big ben speaks. greece's prime minister gets an earful. and what you never ever to want see coming out of your cash machine. your early morning business headlines are straight ahead.

good morning and welcome back to "early today." i'm lynn berry. here are some of your top headlines this morning. 40 house republicans have joined 60 democrats in a letter urging the deficit cutting super committee to consider all options for raising revenue to help shrink the nation's massive debt. several dozens of the republicans had previously signed a pledge promising they would not support a net tax increase. according to new census data, america's poorest of the poor has climbed to a record high of 1 in 15 people. the data shows poverty has spread widely across metropolitan areas.

a manhattan federal jury convicted a russian arms dealer known as the merchant of death of conspiring to sell weapons to terrorists who he thought intended to kill americans. mr. booth faces 25 years to life in prison. england's prince william and his wife the dutchess of cambridge catherine were in england visiting a distribution center for unicef. they lent a hand by packing supply boxes. in southern wales, a lucky escape for residents of a trailer park who woke up to find a landslide had left their homes teetering on the edge of a cliff. no one was hurt and the homes were relocated. and now here's an early look at how wall street will kick off the day. the dow opens at 11,836 after climbing 178 points yesterday. the s&p jumped 19 points. the nasdaq gained 33. taking a look at overseas trading this morning, in tokyo, the nikkei sank 195 points,

while in hong kong the hang seng plunged 491. signs the fed is ready to act if needed helped stocks rebound wednesday and calmed renewed fear over european debt. in his quarterly news conference chairman ben bernanke left open the possibility of acting if conditions here or in europe worsen. the fed forecast growth over the next two years, but bernanke cautioned the pace will be frustratingly slow. meanwhile, european leaders vented outrage at greek prime minister george papandreou at a meeting in france after his call for a greek referendum threw europe's debt plan into chaos. german and french leaders and papandreou describe the vote as greece's decision on whether to remain part of europe. a revolt in papandreou's government may kill the referendum after a confidence vote tomorrow. here at home, an october jump in private hiring also lifted stocks.

banks led by bank of america recovered from recent losses. in earnings, mastercard hit its all-time high on soaring earnings. news corp.'s net income fell. on cost related to the phone-hacking scandal. kraft rose late on a surge in profit. the opening price will be set today for groupon's much anticipated ipo. 30 million shares begin trading tomorrow. a regulator says now bankrupt mf global moved millions in missing client funds last week trying to avoid detection. despite assurances from the firm's lawyer, all the client money is accounted for. reports say roughly $600 million is still missing. finally, we've heard of snakes on a plane, but snake in a cash machine? a surprised customer in spain eventually got his cash and police took the snake to an animal shelter. that gives you the willies. well, coming up, action on the ice.

good morning. if you're just waking up, this is "early today." in sports, showing flashes of his old self, one of the greatest goalies returned to the ice last night. here's mario solis with your early morning headlines. good morning. the devils brodeur missed the game due to an injured shoulder, but could not even stop the maple leaves. 39-year-old brodeur was a little rusty and the devil all by himself goes off in the second period, scoring not one, not two, but three goals in the span of about seven minutes. the hockey guys call that a hat trick. brodeur did show flashes of brilliance. robs phil kessel in the third, dives across and makes a save with the paddle of his stick. worth another look. this is why he's a first ballot hall of famer. kessel can't believe it. unfortunately for the devils,

it's not enough, toronto wins it 5-3. flyers and sabres. philly knows how to score in bunches. three goals in the first 6:30, shawn crodeureur with one coming right into your living room. flyers hold on to win 3-2. mls playoffs, sporting fc and rapids scoreless in the 28th minute when collin puts kansas city up with a header. they win 2-0. they advance to the eastern conference finals. salt lake also moves on. college football, another exciting finish in the mac conference. ohio down three in the final minutes. tyler peddleton looks, looks and finds dante foster. the bobcats take the lead. ohio beats temple 35-31. a college tradition like none other. john brown university celebrates the start of basketball season with their version of making it rain. after the first basket students throw rolls of toilet paper onto the floor turning the court into a sea of white. the 30-year-old tradition comes with a price. the team is given a technical foul but no worries.

for probation violations, a judge ordered her jailed next week for 30 days but sheriff's officials admit due to overcrowding she'll probably check in and check out. once she is out lohan will report to a new no-nonsense probation officer and she must show up for strictly scheduled community service, psychotherapy sessions and appear at a monthly court hearing. if lohan fails on any terms, she'll go to the jail for 270 days, an approach the judge said quote, putting the keys to the jail in the defendant's hands. tmz reports lohan was not immediately jailed because the judge gave her time to finish her nude "playboy" shoot. how courteous. the judge took pity she would be in breach of the $1 million contract if the shoot wasn't completed this week. sigh of relief. finally, insisting she married for love. kim kardashian told an

saudi officials are looking to change time with one building. the construction of the royal mecca clock on the second largest skyscraper in the world is looking to replace greenwich time due to start ticking today in saudi arabia, islamic scholars want the clock to eclipse england's big ben clock as official time. officials are calling it mecca time. two tiny leopard cubs are safe in cambodia after floodwaters apparently caused their mother to flee. a fisherman found three newborn cats abandoned in a hole. while one of their siblings didn't survive, the others are now being cared for at a local zoo. they'll join the zoo's six grown
