new this morning, occupy oakland demonstrators lost their encampment in a raid yesterday. it looks like they're taking their show on the road. i'll explain in a live report. >> in the aftermath of the raid, mayor quan loses another staffer. also a former penn state coach and accused molester breaking his silence. what this could do to his case coming up. and after live look outside the beautiful bay bridge on this tuesday, november 15th. this is "today in the bay."

campus. >> christie smith is live where evicted protesters will join educators, students and community leaders in a student strike. good morning. >> good morning to you. it seems this movement won't go away. what they're calling for at cal is a one-day strike. they called for it last week. there's a big day of action planned here at uc berkeley. an it looks like they're going to get support from neighbors one city over. occupy oakland. there's still a lot of tension from last week's occupy protest as students set up tents. police tore them down immediately. the officers are being criticized for their use of force and how they handled it. the chancellor called for a review and granted amnesty to those arrested that day. they're calling on banks to refund higher education. they're planning on teachouts.

they will march on banks. they said last week they may try to reestablish their encampment again. they won't be going to the ree ons meeting in san francisco this week as planned. because it was canceled out of fear that things might turn violent. something done by a fringe group. exactly how many dpon stray tors will come is almost clear. they will decide what to do in oakland. in the meantime they plan to march here and be be here by noon today. i'm christie smith. jon and laura, back to you. a group of protesters plans to sue uc berkeley and police officers for injuries they claimed they received at the hands of police. video from november 9th shows police and protesters shoving back and forth as officers try

to push people out of an encampment. if seven protesters say they'll file a lawsuit and call on the uc chancellor to resign. the occupy oakland tents are gone in oakland. this morning mayor quan's top staffers. last night she announced she was stepping down. she tells nbc bay area news she felt ineffective in her role. this just hours after dan seigel resigned. he said he left because he disagreed with the decision to force occupiers out of their camp once again. >> we have our disagreements. he was doing a small project on a voluntary basis in my office. he's moving on. i'm moving on. >> and just last month police chief anthony batts caught the mayor offguard quitting unexpectly. a crisis manager was hired but he decided he wasn't going to take the job.

some say it's an extremely polarizing issue. health concerns are springing up in the occupy sf encampment for occupying animals. an outbreak of parvo virus prompted the city's animal care and control to set up a temporary vet clinic on site. parvo is deadly and affects unvaccinated dogs and pup pis under the age of four months. experts say it is vital new protesters do not bring anymore animals to the occupy site. it is 4:35 right now. accused penn state coach jerry sandusky breaks his silence. in a telephone interview with bob costas he maintains his snens. innocence. while the retired penn state coach denies sexual contact with

the boys, experts say the way he answers some of the questions raises doubts about his honesty. >> completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect? >> well, i could say that, you know, i have done some of those things. i have horsed around with kids. i have showered after workouts. i have hugged them. i have touched their legs. without intent of sexual contact. >> the immediate answer is no if you're a heterosexual and not a pedophile and/or the only other thing he can say is yes. >> sandusky's attorney expects some of the alleged victims to come forward and tell the court the acts he's saying never

happened. another ten victims are expected to come forward accusing sandusky of more sexual abuse. the 67-year-old is free on $100 thourz bail. the judge is a volunteer for sandusky's charity. he's back in court on december 7th. you can see the entire interview on our website, nbcbayarea.com. former penn state head coach joe paterno's name has been removed from the big ten's football championship trophy. it was named the stag paterno championship trophy in honor of the two coaches with the most wins in college football history. they decided it was inappropriate to keep the name on the trophy in light of the recent scandal. it will be called the stag championship trophy. penn state fired paterno after allegations surfaced last week. it is 4:37.

santa clara university under investigation by the fbi. someone hacked into the school's computer system. it changed transcripts and altered grades. officials say so far the changes affect 60 graduates and a handful of current students. >> all the great changes in a favorable direction. some more minor. others were significant from an "f" to an "a." >> santa clara says no other personal information was compromised. time to check in with meteorologist christina loren. >> it's cold out there. especially in santa rosa, napa and novato. elsewhere we have 50s on the map. oakland, san francisco, and you're at 47 this morning with us in san jose. good morning to you. we're looking good for today. we'll see a lot of sunshine, la little bit of patchy fog to get through. probably until 10:00 a.m.

if congress doesn't pass it the government could run out of cash this weekend. and black friday is becoming black thursday. toys "r" us will open stores at 9:00 p.m. on thanksgiving, an hour earlier than last year and the the earliest of any retailer. wal-mart will open doors at 10:00 p.m. and toys "r" us is unveiling the early holiday deals, which include $50 gift card with the purchase of an ipod touch. 40% off of some transformer toys and 50% off of some leapfrog devices. back to you. >> love all that. >> not to mention three all at once. okay. amazon is hoping to heat up the tablet market for the holidays. shipments of the new kindle fire started going out yesterday. a day sooner than expected. that gives them a slight jurp zart on the no ork k tab lets that hits shelves later this week. kindle fire sells for $199. analysts expect amazon to sell 3

this next story is nothing stort of miraculous. making the first public debut separately. the previously conjoined sisters for san jose ready to head home ahead of schedule, two weeks after their separation surgery. angelina and anjelica are off of pain mg. they have healthy appetites and the livers that were fused together are working perfectly. the 2-year-olds looked pretty in their matching red dresses. mom, of course, very delighted to show them off. >> we cannot wait to see them walking and running and play with other children again. thank you very much. and glod bless you all. >> can you imagine the joy she's feel sng the girl have some

physical therapy ahead. they need to walk on their own and straight forward. >> that's such a beautiful story. san jose has an unusual distinction which may end today. it has to do with tap water. san jose is the largest city in the entire nation without flouride in the water. that could change today at a meeting. board members favor it. but they're concerned about how to pay for it. many dentists say it leads to an increased amount of cavities for low-income children. the nba talks are still going on. it looks like an nba season is a long shot at this point. players started disbanding the union. the executive director says his group is prepared to file an anti-trust action against the league. commissioner stern says the entire upcoming season is now very much in jeopardy.

allen and tammy and their two kids packed up and moved from tracy to southern california last saturday. the moving truck was stolen in long beach. police later found the truck, but most of the belongings were gone. the story caught the attention of talk show host ellen degeneres who invited them on the show. >> she was so kind. i can go out and get some pots and pans. >> well, i guess you can find out what ellen gave the family today on nbc bay area at 4:00 p.m. i thought i was going to find out, too. stay tuned for nbc bay area news at 5:00. thanksgiving is still more than a week away. a south bay shopping center ready to spread christmas cheer.
