check through reports and report back to you in just a few minutes. >> thank you very much. it is 4:31 right now. and they are at it again. protesters planning to occupy the port of oakland. we have a look at the return visit. good morning. >> good morning, jon. occupy protesters plan to meet here within the half hour and then around 5:30 they're saying they're going to march from here to the port of oakland, which is not too far away. their goal is to shut down the port like they did on november second. they will try to shut them up off and down the coast. they're calling it an alaska against wall street on the water front. by shutting down the ports they hope to hurt the 1%. the big corporations that make money by imports and exports goods. they seem to have the support of workers at the port.

this time around, not so much. the union that represents so many port workers is opposed to the blockade, saying this will cost workers their wages for the day if they're successful. these are the people who protesters claim to support. we don't see how a shut down is going to help in any way on any of those issues. it will hurt the very people these are trying to help. >> that was a spokesperson with the port of oakland. they do have the support. the teamsters have reportedly thrown in their support for today's action. now, this is an action that's going to be going all day long, according to occupy oakland. they have a 5:30 march.

police sweep over the weekend. 55 occupy protesters were arrested early sunday morning. police say demonstrators were warned on an hourly basis before the 24 hours leading up to the crackdown. police say no one was injured during the raid. >> this morning warning flyers cover a san francisco neighborhood after a woman was raped. according to a neighborhood e-mail sent hours after the attack, a man grabbed a wok from behind, broke her neck, raped her on fair oak street and then robbed her. she's now being treated at a nearby hospital. neighbors say it happened so fast that no one heard her scream. police say the suspect could be seen here in the surveillance video. this man is wanted in connection

with another attack in november. >> the search is on for a third suspect in a black friday shooting as one man already in custody faces charges in court. police on the lookout who allegedly drove the getaway car out of the parking lot in san leandro on november 25th. watson surrendered to police after a standoff in oakland last week. the shooting victim is recovering. >> they will find out how long the san francisco socialite will stay behind bars. he is facing 50 years to life in prison. last week holland pleaded guilty to killing 46-year-old kathleen horan at her russian hill home back in 2010. investigators say he posed as a

utility worker to enter the home. at the time he was on parole for attempting to kill his aunt in 1999. right now crews soaking up a diesel fuel smile from a tank at uc berkeley. a campus police officer discovered the leak over the weekend when he smelled gas at strawberry creek, which runs through the campus. the fuel was overflowed while being transferred to another storage tank. team workers are teaming up to soak up the fuel. new insight into what pg&e knew to the months and years leading up to the san bruno pipeline explosion. the chronicle reports they declared two high pressure gas pipelines safe here. without the records they say you till till could not have been sure that the lines were safe. and one of the pipes runs through discovery bay and brent wood. the other runs from the valley

an relief over the fact that the eu leaders seemed to put the latest plan together to resolve the region's debt crisis. asia was higher overnight, but europe was in the red. it could be the last busy week before the holidays in the states. we'll get reports on retail sales, unemployment and inflation. we saw the dow rise to close at 12,184, the nasdaq gained 50 points to close at 2646. meantime, it's going to cost you a little more to light up if you're a smoker. the three biggest cigarette makers are raising prices for the second time. and shoppers are still choosing to point and click and buy their presents from home. comscore is saying consumers spent $5.9 billion online last week. that's up 15% from a year ago. this coming week is usually the busiest for web retailers.

washington state that come to our coach each year to round up crab. santa rosa state senator is proposing creating crab pot limits in california. supporters say restraining the intensity of fishing will ease competition from large boats, and ate creates the frenzy during the season's openings weeks in november. it will also allow people to enjoy fresh crab longer, possibly through valentine's day. but the crab pot limit may have little effect. but would help protect local fishery. >> crab very romantic. this morning san francisco lawmakers tackling the crisis of homeless in the city. there are a total of 37,000 people on the wait list. today representatives from a variety of city agencies. at a meeting at sock this morning taking place at city hall. san francisco voters may get to decide the future of ha neighborhood landmark come june.

the protect coyt tower committee is o petitions to add an initiative to the june ballot that would require the city to put more money the coyt tower generates to improving the park, maintaining the building and restoring the murals. the city's recreation and park department is looking for a new vendor to manage the tower, concession and gift shop. with a new year weeks away, stanford is getting a jump on the game, already welcoming a new crop of incoming students. the university offering admission to 755 high school students under the early action program. that's just 12% of the total number of students who apply for early action acceptance. they expect to get more than 28,000 applications by the regular decision deadline, which is january 1st. 4:49. coming up, a campus in mourning. just ahead, the family of the suspected shooter comes forward. what they are telling the family of a fallen officer.

4:52. the family of a suspected cop killer is offering condolences to the family. the family of 22-year-old ashley offers prayers to the officer's family in an unsigned statement to the associated press. ashley is accused of gunning down officer deriek crouse last week on the virginia tech campus before killing himself. it is 4:53 right now. the alleged victims in the penn state child sex abuse case will confront former assistant football coach jerry sandusky some time tomorrow. at least half of the men are expected to testify in a pennsylvania courtroom where prosecutors must show there is, in fact, enough evidence to bring sandusky to trial. sandusky's attorney says her client is giving him explanations on why the list of accusers is growing and why the stories are strikingly similar.
