although you can make out there's fog drifting through here. visibility is low across the bridges. we'll track them. back to you. >> thank you very much. fire crews are still on scene in the berkeley hills after a brush fire badly damages two multimillion dollar homes. this happened in a heavily wooded neighborhood on miller avenue last night. christie smith is live in berkeley with more on the fire. christi. good morning. >> good morning, marla. the fire ripped through two homes. this one there and another behind the trees. i just spoke with firefighters on the scene. they say they're making sure the homes are security and no flare-ups overnight. this started at 8:30 on miller

avenue. more than a dozen homes were evacuated. it quickly jumped through three alarms and burned through power lines. one neighbor said it moved so fast he had to do everything he could to get out of the way to the next door fire. >> try to get water on the fire. i saw sparks and grab the dog and ran. four firefighters were injured. i'm christie smith. marla and john, back to you. >> east bay police looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian trying to get away from police officers.

they ran off striking a ped on a sidewalk during a getaway. the police are still looking for the woman. police are also looking for a man who ran san francisco police car. it happened in oakland last night. plain clothed officers got a tip that an assault suspect was in an oakland neighborhood. we're happy to say no officers were hurt. police are looking for the person who assaulted a woman a woman was pushing her 2-year-old son in a stroller when she heard footsteps and was suddenly on the ground. when her san began to cry the

attacker took off. oakland police are keeping an eye on a vacant lot trying to make sure protesters do not reoccupy the site. one man was arrested. 14 others were cited for trespassing and then released. police in two peninsula cities want to remind people celebrating the new year should not include using illegal fireworks. they plan to use shot technology this year. a special police unit in east pal low although will also control them. anyone caught and convicted of firing a weapon in the air could face up to three years in

you can turn et off all together. we have so many clouds trapping in the warmth. take a look at temperatures in the north bay. what a difference. 49 degrees in santa rosa. but a pretty fair amount of cloud cover. five degrees warmer than 24 hours ago in san jose. six degrees warmer in hayward. thursday, onshore flow increases. we'll see a stronger onshore flow. as we head throughout the day, that fog will hang around for the most part all day long. likely in the 60s yet again. we are expecting all the low cloud cover to drift south

quite a bit of cloud cover dividing the bay area. most of the clouds are situated over the north bay. increasing clouds ahead of a front that will bring in some showers. just about everywhere will get a little bit of precipitation. not much. go ahead and wash the car. don't wait for the rain to do it. mike and i will be tracking the highways for you all morning long. less than a quarter mile visibility in some cities. santa rosa, napa and concord. so then the coast you have the marine layer pushing on shore. so you'll find fog everywhere through the first part of your door. that's when we'll start to drop off in places like san jose. area of low pressure rides north overnight. that will bring about a little bit of rainfall. the good news is better air quality as we cake off your saturday. the winds will pick up and mix
