later on today. we'll take you through the forecast and talk about the chance for rain first. it's early. you already have something you're following. >> we're following an accident in fremont. now, that person was take on the the hospital after they were discovered on scene unconscious. they're unconscious now. in the process of going to the hospital, they were also arrested. no lanes are blocked, but we'll track this distraction. we'll show you what else is going oncoming up. the man askuzed of setting dozens of fires in los angeles may be responsible for fires in germany. if harry burkhardt is under investigation for fraud and arson. when they searched his pardon me they found articles about the fire and a series of car fires in germany last year. he was arraigned on 37 counts of arson.

police think he ignited 50 fires in los angeles in a span of four days. another round of arrests. a handful of demonstrators taken into custody before 11:30. reports say nearly 60 officers were involved in the sweep. despy the raid, they are stay pg ut. >> we're not going anywhere. the country is not working. a lot of us voted for obama. it's a corrupt, broken system. we're trying to fix it zblflt the raid comes after a dispute between the city and occupy protesters over a vigil. earlier this week they revoked a permit an told protesters they had to take it down. the city said protesters violated the permit conditions. oakland police detectives are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. happened before 8:45 on east

25th street near 19th avenue. they say a man was shot but don't know what led up to the shooting. in word on the suspect or description. a 90-year-old man recoverg from a gunshot wound after he took matters are in his own hands. both men ended up being wounded. attendants saw the suspect driving away, and he called 911. police caught up with him in san rafael. both the suspect and victim listed in stable condition at ma rin general. it shocked them just before the new year's weekend. today the woman suspected in killing another woman with a machete will be in court. marla tellez joins us live with what is happening later.

zbr for almost the past week, 40-year-old sagal sadig has been locked up. she's charged with killing 65-year-old yvonne kirk last friday in the home she shared with her daughter. it all happened in the quiet family friendly willow glen neighborhood. neighbors are shocked by it all. investigators say she was attacked with a large machete. sadig was outside the home covered if blood. she was not home at the time her mother was killed. she came to the u.s. from somalia in 1996. she's a registered nurse and

mother. she studied psychology. they will be in court at 1:45 this afternoon. i'm marla tellez. laura and john. >> it's 5:04 right now. the man accused of leading police on a city wide car chase is also expected in court. 27-year-old gonzalez will be arraigned this afternoon on unspecified charges. he car jacked a man and then rammed four police cars trying to get away. several officers were injured in the case. all are recovering. it's 5:05. the man accused of assaulting an officer at the site of the san bruno blast is in more trouble with the law. police say paul anthony lee was riding his motorcycle when he was stopped by an officer.

police called off a stakeout near coyt tower. they tried to coax a burglary suspect. they think he's on the steep hillside somewhere in the brush. police believed he particularized a nearby apartment an then got stuck on the scene. efforts to revitalize san francisco's mid market area have hit a snag. city's plan for police substation in the neighborhood were dependent on redevelopment funds. but the state supreme court ruled sacramento can take the money away to balance the budget. the city fears the lack of police presence will scare way businesses in the crime plagued area. she's confident the funding will be found. an organization which

problem as far as the volume of traffic. we'll show you what we're talking ability. there's oakland northbound up to the toll plaza. easy flow of traffic despite the construction up to fruitvale. police received a call about a traffic collision early this morningful when they arrived, the car was parked on the roof o f a home. the driver was going too fast, hit a boulder and tree stump and went airborne. the driver is in police custody. crews used a crane to eventually bring that car down. and to one was injured. >> we are happy to report that. strange and unusual. how about tim howard? there's a reason he plays for the u.s. national soccer team. also the keep r if the team in the english premier league.

later today 40-year-old nurse arraigned in a courtroom. she's expected of killing another woman with a machete in the city's quiet willow glenn neighborhood. marla tellez joins us live with what is happening. >> jon, good morning. it's san jose's 39th and last homicide of 201. it happened friday night. sagal sadig is charged with killing 65-year-old yvonne kirk with what police are calling a machete type weapon. initially she was considered a victim as well. she originally told police a man with a black mask attacked her inside her home and then killed her. this all happened inside the home she shared with the

victim's daughter. police say she wasn't home at the time. in fact. sadig tells police she hasn't been home a for a couple weeks now. she's been on vacation. she is 40 years old from somalia. she moved from the u.s. in 1996. she's a registered nurse. this is according to her student profile. she'll be arraigned for murder at 1:45 this afternoon. police need your help finding a man who tried to kidnap a boy -- when he tried to resist. police say the boy was able to get away and run home.

the incident happened in the oakland hills not far from month claire. crime stoppers is offering a reward up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest. police warning people to lock their doors and windows and keep a close eye on the entire neighborhood. a burglar hit a number of homes on the stretch of san ramon drive west of highway 101. police say the burglaries happened in the late morning and early afternoon. police say they've seen a suspicious man in the area in his late teens or early 20s. stands 5'9", and his hands and forearms are covered with tattoos. if you have information, please call morgan hill police. >> it is 5:33 now. some of the most exciting new cars and trucks are rolling into san jose this morning. they're in town for the 2012 silicon valley auto show. bob redell is live at the convention center with the cars the people are talking habit this year.

a live look at oakland this morning. a handful of demonstrators were taken into custody before 11:30 last night. reports say 60 officers were involved. keeping our eye on the area this morning. it's 5:41 now. the white house and pentagon laying out a new plan for the military today. here's the idea. it's to manage hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts without affecting the military's strength. $450 billion. that's according to the white house, congress, republicans, democrats the pentagon. the big fight will be exactly which lines of the budget are going to be ultimately end up being cut. the white house say this is will be driven by strategy. it's trying to build a 21st century fighting force.

no longer will the united states' plan to be ready to stand in two different wars simultaneously. instead will will be a leaner force focused on new threats. not only terrorismful iran as well. but unconventional warfare against unconventional fauxes. the big question is whether congress will be able to come up with budget cuts in a bigger sense. the budget cuts you might recall the super committee was supposed to come up with and failed to do so before the holidays. if they cannot do that. $500 billion additional in cuts also kicks in. they say all bets are off. >> i guess wooil find out if they're going to force them to be enough inspiration to get

something done. thank you very much. >> the obama administration will announce plans to create a number of jobs for kids this summer. help with the private sector has commitments for 180,000 kmooyou employment opportunities for the summer. most of the summer jobs will be temporary. presidential candidates shifted their focus from iowa to new hampshire where primaries are five days away. analysts not predicts a repeat of the close race in iowa. mitt romney picked up an endorsement from john mccain yesterday. he's already polling more than 20 points ahead of the competition in new hampshire. ron paul is his closest competit competitor. >> with romney, ron paul and rick santorum in the top here it's the perfect scenario for the former massachusetts governor.

now we still have a 14-nnt drive all the way to the dublin interchange. and no problems towards castro valley and 580. southbound looks really nice. you're at least at the limit. the off ramp still closed. should be picking up the construction in just a few minutes. and we have a nice smooth flow for the lower pay shore. the dumbarton bridge. the san mateo bridge into that portion of the peninsula as well moving nicely. smooth in the opposite direction. now city council members are talking about cutting their own packages. major chuck reid and city

council members have agreed to consider terminating their pension plans. the cost of funding city pensions has more than tripled over the past ten years. >> an oakland shopping district is looking to trade parking spaces for parks. so-called parklets are already popular in san francisco. now oakland has pilot program and the village is looking to bring new life to the shopping district. customers have mixed reaction. >> i don't think taking spaces to do it. i don't think it's that good of an idea. >> i parked my car about four blocks away. so i don't have to put money in the parking meters. >> they don't let the meters go for free. thooil put them somewhere else or the association will have to pay the city $14,000 a year to cover the lost revenue.
