60s to near 70s yesterday around morgan hill. looks like we'll see highs in the mid-50s, breezy and dries and lows as the winds back off. i think an even spread of 20s and 30s around the bay area, so it's going to be really cole. next couple of mornings, wednesday, the air starts to turn more mild as the clouds spill back in and we've got rain coming back and much-needed sierra snow as we're looking at seasonal totals, about 20% to 30% of average so we'll keep up and, yes, showers possible for that championship home game if the giants beat the pack sfwrers if the giants beat the packers and a lot of folks would like to see it because it went so well the last time, all the way down to the wire. more for you in just a few minutes.

7:20 am
and now they don't know what to do with the lift tickets. should they keep them? >> a lot of them are non-refundable so i've got good news where that's concerned. temperatures are cooling off in the sierras. cool enough for some machine-groomed snow, but we've got the real thing coming in especially come wednesday, thursday and friday. looks like the ski season will get a nice restart and the bay area rain totals will pick on up as well. right now it's chilly outside. not too windy. 33 degrees in livermore and 48 in san francisco and 30s around the north bay, but believe it or not, take a look at the temperatures you're seeing this morning because by monday morning and tuesday morning you're probably going to see a few more 20s showing up on this map. canadian air conditioning spills into the bay area. right now not much wind. santa rosa seeing the northwest wind down into the north bay. that will keep our daytime highs, even with the sunshine running quite cool. highs in the mid-50s so 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the gorgeous weather we saw yesterday, so
7:21 am
this is going to set us up for some patchy frost. maybe even freeze warnings around the bay area by tuesday morning. the first half of the week looks downright cold. it's the second half of the week as the moisture starts to stream in off the pacific. that will bring up our temperatures and also bring up a chance of seeing rain. here's some good news in terms of the air qualities. the winds pick up and we're back in the non-spare the air days mode. now that the storm track will pick up, i think air quality will look a lot better later on this week. right now the satellite and radar not finding anything around san jose as we take you out further. a band of clouds dropping through the north bay behind, it very chilly air. it's been cold enough to drop snow in the foothills east of seattle this morning. even around portland, too. by the time the system drops in from the north, won't have a lot of moisture with it. maybe a few showers off the
7:22 am
mendici,o coast. winds will back off for a very chilly night tonight. could even get 30s by 8:00 this evening. for wednesday the storm track is going to aim in right across northern california. it will be the north bay, especially sonoma county northward that we'll see the heaviest rain for the second half of the week. so what you see here for the first system is pumping in the cool air. not a lot of moisture out there, and that's typical for systems to drop in out of the north. they tend to be moisture-starved, but they do bring a lot of cold air. tuesday we start to see the moisture approach the coast, and there's plenty more where that's coming from. kind of like an atmospheric river of pacific moisture aiming in on northern california. the jet stream will park itself right along the northern california coastline so as you go into thursday we'll finally see the rain spreading into the south bay but the main event in terms of the wind and rain right now looks to be a bull's eye as we get into friday evening and friday night. that looks to be the strongest system we see this week. snow levels close to 5,000 feet.
7:23 am
here's some good news as we can host the championship game next weekend. we could see a break, but probably still some showers for the second half of next weekend. i do want to show you a sample of monday morning's temperatures talking about this cold snap. look at san jose possibly in the purple. this all depends on if the winds stay light tonight into monday morning. we could see plenty of 20s and 30s and we'll shuffle forward into tuesday morning and it looks like a second morning of 20s and 30s to many of our inland valleys and i think later tonight you may see freeze warnings going up for the next couple of more. today obviously it's quite cold as well. 30s and 40s through 8:00 this morning. as we head towards noon the transition will be the wind picking up. we could see wind gusts close to 40 in the coastal range hill tops. really looking at winds, 15-25 miles per hour so the seven-day forecast, it's kind of a tale of two weeks really. the first half of the week cold and dry, freeze warnings possible and possibly for tuesday morning and then the
7:24 am
moisture comes in. that will bring the temperatures up, but much-needed rain and sierra snow so the ski passes could look just fine, especially towards next weekend and maybe some showers if we can host that championship game next sunday. >> wouldn't that be cool, and it would be nice for niner fans not have to buy a ticket to green bay. >> a long way to go to be cold. >> thanks, rob. while niner fans are still on a high this morning from yesterday's impressive win the other big game was the matchup was between new england patriots and broncos. ended up being more fizzle than sizzle. whether you like tim tebow or hate him, people were talking about them. patriots managed to steam roll them, new england jumping to a 35-7 lead alone in the first half. should have end it had there. quarterback tom brady broke a few records last night as well throwing for 363 yards and tying

a playoff record with six touchdowns. tebow was 9 of 26 for 136 yards. new england's defense has been in question all season, but last night they played a pretty impressive game, holding denver to just 252 total yards. well, new orleans fans and denver now out of the picture, there are six teams remaining in the playoffs. two more divisional playoff games today, and here's how that shapes up. in the afc, houston texans take on the baltimore ravens. the winner of that game advances to the afc championship next sunday against new england. in the nfc today, the new york giants face the green bay packers. the winner there faces the niners next sunday in the nfc championship game. then the winners of both championship games next weekend move on to compete, rob, for what is it? >> super bowl. >> super bowl xlvi. it's going to be sunday, february 5th. you can watch that right here on
