indeed, the month is flying. >> it is. >> good morning, everybody. the time is just about 4:31. let's check that forecast right now. good monday morning. >> good monday morning. well, you made it through the first official weekend of spring, although it was much more like a winter weekend around here. we had a lot of rainfall, especially in the city of san francisco over an inch and a half of rain in some cities. we've got more on the way this week. today actually looks like one of the drier days in the near future. so we'll take you through that forecast, tell you when the rain comes right back into your backyard. that's coming up. mike has a stall that could slow you down. >> if you're coming off the caster valley y, this is the concern, as you're making your way to the 880 interchange, this would be a big problem if you're coming off of the area. sounds like it's affecting lanes right now, but i'll follow up and make sure it's not much of an issue.

more folks hit the roadway, it's pretty light volume, but we'll track this to see if it's any problem. and the san mateo bridge, moving smoothly over the water, nice flow, but at this hour, the bridges showing a nice number, guys. this morning, there's been an arrest in a san francisco mass killing. >> police discovered five bodies in a home on friday morning. and the first of the victims had been shot in what appeared to be a murder/suicide, now the investigation has taken a new turn. live with the latest on who the suspect is. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. the victim's home here on 16th house street remains under 24-hour guard and the homes surrounding the victims' homes are also surrounded by yellow tape as this is still a crime scene stemming from friday's mass murders here. last night, police announced the arrest for the murders. he is a san francisco resident and police say he knew the victims. investigators are not revealing much more information.

they first believed some of the victims suffered gun shots, now it appears they did not. all were killed by what police called blunt trauma. the family member made the gruesome discovery friday morning and called police. at first they believed there was no suspect. all the people involved in the killings were inside the home. last night, police changed that theory. >> we do have some information that we're following up that there could be some prior gang ties involved in this situation, although we don't believe at this point in time that this was gang-related. >> reporter: investigators are not revealing the motive for the killings. police also arrested the suspect's brother yesterday on unrelated drug charges. police also will not say if there will be any more arrests, and they have not released the names of those five victims. we are live in san francisco, i'm damion, "today in the bay." two families search for a

missing teenager in morgan hill. law enforcement held the largest organized search yet for sierra lamar. among those that turned out to support sierra's family, mark class whose own daughter was kidnapped and murdered in 1993. and also onhand, michelle michael lay. >> no one expects this situation to develop, it just does. and that's why people who have been through it, you just feel so much for them. you just can't. if you find anything, it just tears you up. >> after more than four hours of searching, her family attended a candle light vigil in morgan hill. her mother and father say they're not giving up hope in finding sierra who disappeared ten days ago. a frightening near abduction in the south bay. san jose police say an armed man with a stun gun tried to kidnap a teenage girl friday in the

willow glenn neighborhood but she was able to escape. the suspect was last seen in a red compact car with tinted windows. he's described as a hispanic man in his 30s, 5'7" tall, weighing about 200 pounds. well, quick-thinking firefighters credited we vith evacuating costco in concord. authorities say a pipe ruptured releasing refrigerant out into. helped get everybody out safely. the building was ventilated and reopened several hours later, nobody was injured. muni investigating a crash in san francisco, killed a man on sunday morning. witnesses say the man stepped into traffic from between parked cars. he was hit and pinned under the bus near hayes and fillmore street. he died later at the hospital. the bus driver has been placed on non-driving status pending an

investigation. it is 4:35 right now. pop 2012 will be held at oakland's oracle arena this saturday. the event features pounding music, associated with a rave. lawmakers have been trying to ban the event and ones like it since 2010 since two people died of a drug overdose. eight others went to a hospital, 70 were arrested on drug charges. another bay area city is considering a ban on medical marijuana. daily city holds a public hearing on a proposed pop club ban. city council sponsors say the clubs attract crime. he also wants medical marijuana clubs to do away with their for profit status. an historic day in the debate over health care reform. today the u.s. supreme court hearing arguments on the constitutionality of the health care reform law. brian mooar has the story from washington.

care. >> reporter: in the highest court of the land, a constitutional fight over health care and the boundaries of government power. the case won't be decided until june, but it is safe to say it will redefine health care and sharpen the lines of government. supreme court, brian mooar, nbc news washington. governor gary brown's tax initiative seems to be gaining ground with voters. 64% of those surveyed say they support the measure. the proposal would raise the state sales tax by .25% for the next four years. it would also raise taxes for people raising more than $250,000 a year. governor brown aims to put this initiative on that november ballot. what's in the forecast for today? let's check it out with meteorologist christina loren. >> good monday morning to you. you don't need that umbrella today, but you'll need it every other day this week. this morning, though, i wanted to show you the radar, because for the short time, it is bone dry.

we wake up likely tracking showers, a strong storm system on the way between tuesday and wednesday and about a 30% chance of rain every single other day this week. so it all works out like this. temperatures are cold right now. make sure you grab your jacket on the way out that front door. 36 in santa rosa, 45 in livermore. throughout the day today, we will hit the 60s. this looks like also, it will be one of the warmer days in the extended period. we'll get another week of winter. we still need the rain, though, so that's good. we'll talk more about that coming up. first, let's check that drive with mike. >> all right, christina. we will give folks an update because i have lane information for them. over here, we're looking at an accident outside discovery bay. just on the east side of the discovery bay golf course. this is highway 4 east of discovery bay boulevard right around the bridge in a slew. sounds like a car went off the roadway and into the water. no injuries are reported. but folks, this may be an issue as you head toward the bridge. keep that in mind.

over the shooting of 17-year-old trayvon martin by a neighborhood watch member. today marks one month since martin died. over the weekend, vigils and religious ceremonies were dedicated to martin and to his family. many people wore hoodies, the same thing martin was wearing the day he was shot. >> it's about pulling our community together in the wake of an absolute tragedy. >> band in solidarity with the family of trayvon martin. >> stop the violence. save the children. >> now, the alleged shooter, george zimmerman claims he shot trayvon martin in self-defense. this weekend, friends and lawyers saying zimmerman suffered a broken nose and a gash on the back of his head during that encounter. the markets try to bounce back after the worst week in 2012, and were off to a good start for that and more of the news before the bell, we turn to jackie deangelos at cnbc headquarters. good morning, jackie. >> good morning. >> the futures are higher this

morning. we saw the dow and the s&p 500 come off the worst week of the year, but still, the dow, the nasdaq, and the s&p are on track for the best first-quarter performance in 14 years. it's a busy week for economic data here in the u.s. with reports on home prices, consumer confidence, durable goods and the final look at fourth quarter gdp all this week. we saw the dow rise 34 points on friday to close at 13,080, the nasdaq up four. meantime, oil prices topped $108 last week, tensions over iran's nuclear program, they continue to simmer. crude is hovering around $106 today. against that backdrop. a new survey is finding gas prices rose 11 cents to a national average of $3.93 a gallon. but analysts are thinking gas prices may have peaked for now. congress is calling on eric holder to probe whether employers who ask for facebook passwords during job interviews

effects, an evacuation has been reissued for some coastal areas. president obama is attending an international nuclear safety summit in seoul, south korea. the president along with world leaders from about 50 countries met today, will meet today and tomorrow to discuss various nuclear issues. north korea's and iran's controversial nuclear programs will be discussed along the sidelines of the summit. the president is also holding several high-profile meetings with world leaders in seoul. one of hollywood's most noted film directors has set a new record of a different sort. he's become the first man ever to reach the deepest spot on earth solo. titanic and avatar director james cameron used a specifically designed submarine to dive nearly 7 miles to the floor of the trench. cameron is also an oceanography buff and spent several hours exploring and filming the trench before returning to the surface. no one has reached the bottom of

romney heads to the bay area today. attending private fundraisers. one of those events later today in redwood city. romney's chief rival rick santorum is expected to visit the bay area this week, as well at a fundraiser on thursday in alamo. well, ready or not, it is tebow time out in new york city. today the jets making an official announcement on tim tebow the backup quarterback for the nfl season. he was traded to the jets after peyton manning decided to sign on to the broncos, so they sent tebow to the jets. jets had to move the press conference from the normal conference room to the indoor practice facility to accommodate the onslaught of media requests there. well, the press conference isn't sitting too well with some current and former jets. saying, "how many times is a backup quarterback had a press conference?" why not do a conference call like they always do and call it a day?
