just about 4 degrees of separation between all cities across the bay. that means it's mild. we will hit the 70s. i have your forecast. we'll take you through the changes minute by minute coming up. first let's check your drive with mike. let's take you out to san pablo. we had an earlier accident. this is off the richmond parkway. at tara hills drive, a car went into a pole and took some wires down. this is affecting two lanes at the least. getting into the city, main street at bryant street. police activity there. that will affect both sides of the freeway. for what caused this, i'm going to turn it back to you. >> police are on the scene of a homicide. christie smith is on the scene for us. >> reporter: good morning.

it's kind of noisy out here. but right now, i can tell you that police have the entire street block ed off. this is main street at harrison. what they are telling us is they got a call early this morning about a body out here. the medical examiner is here. they did find a deceased person out here about 2:30 this morning on main street. they found an adult male victim laying here. they are treating this as a homicide. they are not saying how this person died. there are reports that this person may have been shot. one security guard earlier said that there was a body out on the sidewalk. and that's about all he knew. he was told to leave the area. we're also trying to clarify information that this may have starleted with a welfare check on a relative of a utility worker. i have calls into that utility to try to confirm that, but police keeping us at bay this morning. i have calls into a spokesperson to see if they can give us

anymore information perhaps if they are looking for any suspec suspects. so far haven't heard back. as soon as i do, will give you that information. that's the latest from here. i'm christie smith, today in the bay. also new this morning, police investigating another deadly shooting. officers arriving at the intersection of sacramento and oregon streets at 7:30 last night. they found a man there lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. police say the shooting may have originated with a conflict involving two groups of people at a nearby store. a confrontation led to this gunfire. police are looking for others. this marks the third homicide of 2012. and a close call for a woman. she was walking her dog along hill top drive when a man used his truck to block her path. she turned, walked in the opposite direction and he began to follow her. at that point, the woman started to run. the man then drove off.

this morning police looking for a pair of suspects in a stabbing. this is one of the two men wanted for an attack on a man across from the menlo park station. he was leaving work when the suspect robbed and stabbed him multiple times. he's right now recovering. the men both ran away. it's 5:04 right now. a san jose police officer who molested two teenage boys may find out his fate today. he's expected to be sentenced this afternoon. he pleaded no contest earlier this month to charges he had sex with the two boys. two weeks -- no. what story do we have here? this is a homicide story. unaware of what we have here. i think this is the killing in san francisco of the five people that were killed in a house up there. this is luck. they are having him up there.

he was in court yesterday apparently. the man accused of killing the five people in san francisco will not be represented by the public defend rs office. a judge says it could be a conflict of interest for the officer to represent ben thai look. his brother may be a witness in the murder trial. he was appointed another attorney and is due to go back to court for the arrangement. two weeks after sierra lamar went missing, investigators making an odd discovery during the teen's home. today in the bay's bob rhode island dell is live with more on the possible new clues. >> reporter: two used condoms and an empty box used to ship handcuffs. a searcher was the out of morgan hill found those items yesterday afternoon in a field at the end of palm avenue. this is about a mile away from

sierra lamar's home. the card board box which was apparently used for shipping was labeled with the words "stainless steel handcuffs." it doesn't say who the manufacturer is. the used condoms were found a few feet away. there's no indication that this is related to sierra's disappearance, but because they were found so close to the home, the sheriffs office collected them as evidence for dna testing. results are due back within a week. we put this map together. sierra was supposed to catch her school bus two weeks ago this morning at palm. this field is at the end of palm avenue. according to the sheriffs office, a place where kids congregate. >> cars park down there at night. especially they frequent road quite a bit. >> reporter: this is the first discovery of possible new

evidence since just after sierra's disappearance. searchers already found her cell phone and purse with her clothes inside not far from where she lives. it is 5:06 right now. the date for a showdown between san francisco sheriff and mayor ed lee is set. a judge is scheduled to hear his challenge of his suspension on april 18th. his lawyer filed court papers saying the suspension is a denial of his right to due process. they also say a public official cannot be removed for misconduct unless the crime occurred while they were in office. the mayor was not yet sworn in had. he pleaded guilty to false imprisonment to settle a domestic abuse case. we have a lot to talk about

in the weather department. another storm on the way for the weekend. and another one next week. so as you're well aware at this point, we're running the deficit in terms of our average rainfall totals for this time of year. we are still rapidly making those totals up. especially in the north bay where we're expecting the most moisture. it works out like this. temperatures are cool in the mid-50s. 51 in san jose. a nice, mild start. the storm track is going to bring temperatures into the 70s today. we have a good-looking forecast shaping up. as you can see now, the bulk of the moisture is still to the north. and that will likely be the case for the next few hours. then we'll dry out. so your day works out like this. up to 67 degrees inland. 63 by the bay. not much of a difference. that's because of the cloud cover and because we're going to

bridge. a nice start to your friday. >> thank you, mike. a report due out on personal spending could determine whether or not markets close on a high note today. for details on that, we turn to jackie deangelis. good morning. >> good morning. the futures are higher after stocks were mixed, but they closed well off their lows. the markets had dropped early on as reports were showing that new filings for unemployment fell shy of last week and the u.s. economy didn't grow more than previously thought in the fourth quarter. this morning we're going to get some data on personal income and spending and manufacturing and consumer sentiment. in the meantime, we saw the dow rise to 13,145. it's on pace for the best first quarter in 14 years. the nasdaq losing 9 points. in the meantime, verizon is hoping to launch a video service by the end of the year. they would be able to see come

welcome back. after five years of cuts, the fremont superintendent says the next round will involve difficult decision. the district talking about cutting school bus service. that would impact about 800 students. the district trying to cope with the projected loss of state funding of $12 million. it also says if it decides to cut the service, drivers and mechanics would lose their jobs. the sharks signed a bay area kid to an entry level contract. the team signed matt tenison. he learned to play in the junior

sharks program at sharks ice in san jose. the 21-year-old just finished his junior season at western michigan. terms of his contract were not revealed. a new independent investigation into apple's overseas contract factories finds employees worked too many hours. but scott mcgrew says they do it because they want the cash. >> apple said they tried to discourage their employees from working so many hours to try to up their pay. so the owner of the factory is going to try a different strategy. raising pay without increasing hours. this is the third major raise for assembly line workers in the past year or so. it's been estimated it costs apple $8 in labor to make an iphone. the third bay area ipo ended their first day of public trading.

attention on the area between the two white buildings here on main street. this is right below the bay bridge between bryant and harrison. police aren't offering a lot in the way of details, but at 2:30 this morning they got a call of a deceased person. they came out with paramedics and found an adult male dead at the scene. a security guard said earlier he saw a body on the sidewalk. there were earlier reports that this may have involved a pg&e worker because there are a number of pg&e trucks out here behind the yellow crime scene tape. i just got off the phone with a pg&e spokesperson and they were saying this was not a worker involved in this, but they are offering the condolences to the victim's family. i do have calls into the spokesperson for the san francisco police department. as soon as i hear back from him, i'll let you know what he has to say. christie smith, today in the bay. police are investigating a

sexual assault on an east bay high school campus. it happened around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. investigators say a girl was sexually assaulted in one of the campus bathrooms. police are conducting interviews and gathering evidence, but to far, no arrests have been made. police are asking parents to be vigilant after a man tried to grab a young girl. the suspect is a white male in his 50s with gray hair, heavy set, wearing a polo shirt and jeans. he lunged at a 9-year-old girl around 8:45 yesterday morning at bub elementary school. the girl was returning from from a restroom and police ask people to report anything suspicious. 5:33 right now. two weeks after sierra lamar disappeared, there may be a new clue in the case.

bob redell is live with details of a strange discovery made close to the teen's home. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning. investigators with the sheriffs office don't know if this is related to sierra lamar's disappearance, but it's certainly piqued their interest. a volunteer from the search effort made this discovery yesterday afternoon in this field. it's at the end of palm avenue shs not far from the lamar home. they came across two used condoms and a few feet away from those, an empty card board box labeled "stainless steel handcuffs". it appears the box was used to ship the cuffs. the manufacturer is unknown. there's no indication right now if the items are related to her disappearance, but they have collected them as possible evidence and sent them off to the lab for dna testing. results are due back in a back wooek. to give you an idea of where the

history returning to the bay area after a two-year absence. pop 2012 being held in oakland tomorrow that takes place. 12,000 people expected to attend. promoto promotors are committed to safety and will be working with police. lawmakers have been working to ban this event after two people died. 70 drug arrests were also made. san francisco police have arrested a man suspected of stabbing an occupy protesters. the suspect returned yesterday to the camp in front of the federal reserve building. occupiers recognized him and held him until police arrived. he stabbed a fellow protester leaving him with critical injuries. a separate stabbing happened the next night, but no arrests have been made in that case. kind of a mild start to the day. christina loren says that's just the calm before the storm.

welcome back. it's a documentary that a lot of critics say kids need to see, but the question is will that by able to? the movie "bully" comes out as an unrated movie. tracie potts is live with all the details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. it's unrated because the motion picture association wanted to give it a rating r for the strong language and profanity in this movie. they were unable to overcome that. those that will show it say kids 17 and under can see it if they bring a note from their parents. regal cinemas says they will allow teens and younger students in if they are accompanied by a parent. "bully" is a documentary that talks about the bullying problem. it shows specific examples of what has happened to a number of students in this country, but

the u.s. military this morning investigating the death of an air force pilot. the department of defense says captain francis emily died wednesday. that happened ten days ago. the cause of this crash remains under investigation. several bay area events planned today in support of trayvon martin. martin is the florida teen who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer last month. public outrage and rallies have focused on the fact that the man who killed the unarmed teen has not been arrested or charged. today in oakland, there will be a march at 4:00 p.m. at 14th and broadway. at noon in san francisco, religious leaders will hold a news conference protesting the handling of the case. and they are also calling on clergy to wear hoodies in solidarity. a fundraiser set to mark the one-year anniversary of the beating of brian stow. the former paramedic still

recovering after being attacked outside of dodger stadium. living in an undisclosed rehab center and he does need around the clock care. his family is joining hundreds of people at the walk for thoughts event in san jose tomorrow. organizers hoping to raise about $50,000 for the brain injury association of california. the walks begin at 10:00 a.m. at almaden park. they will begin closing hundreds of deportation cases. the bay area news group reports attorneys will sift through the entire case load at san francisco's immigration court to look for low priority deportation cases to drop. san francisco court has about 17,000 pending cases. the process will begin in san francisco in june and then in los angeles in july. time for some hoops. the stanford women's basketball team getting ready for the test of the season.
