good morning to you. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm jon kelley. it is a fatal stabbing being reported as s.w.a.t. teams surround a house on cleveland avenue. we're being told that san jose police were called at the 911 center, received a call about a stabbing victim on the 200 block of cleveland avenue. they arrived and found a man unresponsive suffering from apparent stab wounds, later pronounced dead at santa clara valley medical center. >> these are live pictures that we're bringing you to the scene -- from the scene this morning, rather, as s.w.a.t. standoff. it looks like it continues out there as police are still live on the scene. officers arrived and administered cpr to the stabbing victim who was taken to valley medical center in san jose where he was pronounced dead from those injuries.

now, it's interesting because people in the house there at cleveland avenue. this is at forest in the rosen garden area. the residence of the house where that call originated reportedly locked themselves in the home refusing to cooperate with investigating officers and claimed they were armed with firearm, but we're hearing from police that there's no indication of a hostage situation at this time. earlier reports say there were. we have, obviously this live crew at the scene as we continue to follow this this morning. breaking news in the rose garden area of san jose at forest and cleveland avenue. >> at this point, originally thought there was a hostage situation. the relationship unknown at this point with the victim and the resident. so the s.w.a.t. team on, they're still trying to clear up everything going on. no suspect at this point has been identified. and nobody has been arrested. and that's all they really know right now. we will stay on top of this

story and continue bringing you information as we gather. but once again, in san jose, a s.w.a.t. team standoff still being held. a fatal stabbing. we will stay on top of it for you. in the meantime, welcome you to your friday morning. want a check of that forecast with christina loren. good morning. >> good morning. we have been waiting for the sunshine, the warmer weather, and today we get just that. good morning to you. temperatures in the 50s, upper 40s to start, but we're slated to hit the 70s, even a few isolated 80s today. interesting forecast. rain back on that seven-day map. we'll talk about that coming up. first, 4:32. let's see if there's problems on the road with mike. >> the big thing i want to make sure we get into this show and folks wake up knowing about is not on the east bay or approaching to the city, it's in the city and getting out of the city tonight. 8:00, doyle drive closes. you've seen signs all over the place. this is a big note because we have a giants game tonight. well, when you get out of the giants game, you will be cut off between lombard and basically

the golden gate bridge. let's get to an animation that we have. this is showing you the area. between basically the marina or the palace of fine arts and the golden gate bridge. this roadway, doyle drive is cut off. typically the way folks get to the golden gate bridge out of the city. so you're going to have to go south of there. take that over toward highway 1. back of my maps, showing you generally what we mean by this. here's a live shot of doyle drive itself. there's overnight construction going on there, as well. but back to the maps, it's red on the speed sensors. that will clear up later on, probably half an hour from now. the roadway i've marked to the south, geary, california, those are major connectors. it's the way you're going to get to the golden gate bridge because the other roadway is cut off. doyle drive construction. this will cause a lot of congestion on the streets, the ferry system is a great way to get into and out of the city, as

well. wanted to make sure we got that. over to you. >> okay. and that doyle drive shutdown that mike talked about this weekend. it'll also affect muni lines. it will not be running this weekend. a lot of information to pass along here. there will also be changes on the lines numbers 1, 5, 28, 35, 38, 24, and 91. if you're not sure whether your route will be effective, check muni's website. there's also a critical mass bike ride going on tonight starting at justin herman plaza and then, of course, the giants are back in town tonight, as well. so plan a lot of extra time. if you drive in that area or anywhere nearby in the city. 4:34, all yacht racing out of the san francisco bay is suspended this morning. the move by the coast guard follows a deadly accident nearly two weeks ago. the boat called low-speed chase

crashed killing one sailor, four others remain missing and are presumed dead. racing will resume once the investigation of what went wrong is completed. we have an update on breaking news. 11 people facing charges after a major drug bust in oakland. police seized 2,500 marijuana plants, several guns including assault rifles and body armor from a warehouse on 89th avenue in east oakland thursday morning. they also found $40,000 in cash and 50 pounds of dried pot. total street value, more than $1 million. well, the fight over a peninsula golf course home to two endangered species now on hold this morning. shark park owned by san francisco but located on the county coast. environmentalists say lawn mowing at the park endangers the california red-legged frog and the guarder snake. a judge issued a stay on the lawsuit brought by environmentalists seeking to close that park. 4:36, a father who is suing

a peninsula school district says he's now getting hate calls. jack says his son got caught cheating in his honors english class and was expelled from the class at sequoia high school. he says the punishment is too harsh even though his son signed a no cheating pledge. he's received several rude messages on his phone at work since filing that lawsuit. tomorrow is national drug takeback day and plenty of bay area businesses and police departments are taking part. a chance for people to safely dispose of used prescription pills keeping them out of the hands of children and water supplies. last year, americans turned in more than 377,000 pounds of unused medication. >> what a great initiative there. keeping things safe and clean. well, it's time now to talk about the weather. it's going to be beautiful this weekend. christina loren is here to tell us how nice it's going to be. >> a little bit on the fresh and clean side in the air quality

department. temperatures are running about 5 to 8 degrees cooler than we were at this time yesterday. this morning, we're in the 40s and 50s. this afternoon, we're headed toward the 70s inland. but we do have interesting weather on the way to talk about. let's get right to that. 46 degrees in livermore, 49 degrees in sunnyvale, a good-looking forecast for today. a lot of sunshine, and as a result, you'll want to get on outdoors. we keep on climbing and the temperature throughout the upcoming weekend. 49 degrees in sunnyvale, high pressure is the reason for the warm-up. it's going to move in, drive the winds offshore as we head through the second half of your day. today, you will get the sunshine, you're going to get temperatures in the 70s and tomorrow the 80s return. a great beach weekend. we'll take a look at some of the warmest beaches across the bay area. we'll get the best surf conditions. mike's going to be a busy man, not just with doyle drive. >> yeah, thankfully a number of accidents we saw popping up earlier in the morning have

actually cleared from the incident report. we don't have any major slowing on freeways now, except for look at this. this is now popping up. eastbound 580 as you're heading out of livermore. but this happened about the same time yesterday. and it sorted itself out just about ten minutes ago. we'll track this westbound, no closures and no construction through this zone all the way over toward the castro valley y. a smooth drive here, but at the top of your screen, heading up in oakland around 98th. some slowing, just a couple of yellow chicklets. continuing up past the bay bridge, the maze moves smoothly and in or out of the north bay. the bridge moving smoothly, another blip around 780 and interstate 80. looks like more cars hitting the roads, maybe construction crews, although no construction schedule for these particular areas. we'll track this again, guys and send it back to you. >> thanks a lot. we'll be checking in with you all day long. later today, the san jose fire department officially welcoming aboard brand new

world headquarters. good friday morning. >> good morning to you. house republicans may vote today to freeze rates on stafford student loans at 3.4% for a one-year period. they are set to double july 1st. where the fight's going to come in is how the gop wants to pay for the measure. directed by the health care overall to fund investment in illness protection procedures. house democrats want to fund the bill by getting rid of tax breaks for oil and natural gas companies. this could go down to the wire. meantime, futures are slightly higher after yesterday's strong rally. we saw stock moving higher on the back of better than expected economic data on pending home sales and some positive earnings reports. investors appear to be shrugging off a move by s&p due to the country's mounting debt problems. and here in the u.s., we'll get data on consumer sentiment, employment costs, and the first glance at how much the economy grew in the first quarter.

chevron, merck, and proctor & gamble are some of the movers we're watching this morning. the dow rose yesterday, the nasdaq up 21 to 3,050. and finally, walmart is offering online shoppers a cash option. they'll let people who buy items online pay for them at cash at any of the brick and mortar stores. trying to cater to people who don't have access to a bank account, credit, debit, or prepaid card. walmart says only about 15% of the transactions are paid for with a credit card at this point. >> thank you very much for that update. let's get updated with that forecast. >> you heard the weekend in her voice, don't you? >> everybody, you know what -- you can get outside without the rain coming down. we've got a good-looking weekend. 49 degrees. she's kind of my hype woman, isn't she? 49 in sunnyvale, 46 in concord this morning. so you'll notice a cooler difference when you walk out your front door this morning.

about 8 degrees cooler. i don't think we're going to dip into the 30s. but for the greater bay area, 40s and 50s. this morning, on our way to the 70s inland as high pressure has regained control of our weather pattern. that active system racing into the central portion of the united states. for us, we're going to get a gorgeous weekend. lots of sunshine, high pressure bringing in a little bit of a breeze today, and we're going to see the offshore winds ramping up coming out of the north warming as they push from land to sea. tomorrow, the 80s return. and then by sunday, we're going to reach peak warmth. that's the day if you want to hit the beach where you are going to get the best condition. santa cruz on sunday will be at a comfortable 78 degrees. really, really nice day out there. 73 for fairfield today. we'll hit about 80 degrees inland tomorrow, 82 on sunday. you want to keep that spf 30 handy with a high uv index. we want to -- the pollen levels are creeping back up for the weekend. we'll talk about that coming up.

the good news is, the nice weather stays just about all week long next week. back to you guys. >> thank you very much, christina. it's 4:47 right now. south bay mother praying for a miracle today. her teenage son angel is in a coma with severe head trauma after being hit by a car while riding his bike. now the community is rallying around him. george kiriyama has the story. >> reporter: well, good morning. the middle school is rallying around one of the students angel perez as he recovers from a massive brain injury here at valley medical center. this morning we talk with angel's sister who says she's thankful for the school's support. now vivian hernandez is trying to stay positive. she admits it's tough to do that when her 14-year-old brother is in a hospital bed in an induced coma with a major brain injury. he was riding his bike with his friends and a pickup truck hit him. he was not wearing a helmet. doctors told angel's family they are waiting ining for the sweld

pressure on his brain to go down. all the family can do is stay by the bedside and pray. >> terrible. >> i don't know, not a good feeling seeing your mother cry. >> reporter: the school will help raise funds on may 22nd. in the meantime, a fund has been set up at wells fargo bank. when they were conjoined, they captured hearts all over the family, and now they'll be back for a rare public appearance in palo alto. 2-year-old angelica and angelina arrived at the hospital attached at the chest and following ten hours of intense surgery, the two girls were successfully separated. the san jose twins once again will be in the public eye this saturday. the twins along with their family and doctors holding a news conference to update the girls' progress. >> good for them. >> absolutely. >> exciting to see. stanford football star
