and today we begin with back in jail. the former neighborhood watch volunteer charged with the murder of unarmed teen trayvon martin turned himself in to florida police yesterday. george zimmerman's bond was revoked friday after a judge said he failed to disclose about $135,000 raised through a website set up for his legal defense. nbc's jay gray reports. >> reporter: after six weeks george zimmerman is back in jail. >> he is quiet and cooperative. >> reporter: the 28-year-old who shot and killed trayvon martin turned himself in on sunday, two days after judge kenneth lester revoked his bond. >> i find that good cause exists based upon the material misrepresentations that the court relied upon. >> reporter: the decision came after prosecutors argued that during his initial bond hearing, zimmerman and his wife hid the fact that they had raised money for his defense through a website. >> it was misleading and i don't know what other words to use other than it was a blatant lie. >> reporter: zimmerman's attorneys countered, saying the omission was a mistake, not a

lie. >> if deception was their intent, why would they disclose it to me the first day it was discussed and why did he forward all of the money i asked him to forward, you know, the day we asked him to forward it. >> reporter: zimmerman is charged with the second-degree murder of trayvon martin. late thursday martin's attorney said the bond's ruling calls into question zimmerman's assertion that he acted in self-defense that night the florida teenager was killed. >> the credibility is the issue, and we think it is the most important ruling so far in this entire case. >> certainly, as mr. crump said, there is a credibility question that now needs to be sort of rehabilitated by explaining away what they were thinking when they did what they did, if that's what happened. >> reporter: an explanation the defense hopes to offer judge lester during a new bond hearing they will ask for in the next few days. jay gray, nbc news. well, overseas it is a horrific scene this morning in nigeria's largest city after a jetliner slammed into a busy neighborhood sunday, killing everyone onboard in the second

air disaster in that country in as many days. moments before the crash, which also killed an unknown number of people on the ground, a military official says a pilot reported engine trouble. nbc's rohit kachroo reports. >> reporter: moments from touchdown, the aircraft crashed into a residential area. the weather was good when the plane appeared to land onto a two-story building in the subbur of lago, striking a store and apartments. >> translator: my children were outside playing ball. we asked them to look up because the plane was about to land on top of my head. and the minute it passed, it bent. it was going down. >> reporter: it was late afternoon. many people were in their homes when the passenger jet fell from the sky. thousands poured outside, trying to find survivors in the burnt wreckage. >> the tail's fin was clearly sticking up. you could still see the painting from the dana airline company on the part of the side of the wreckage, but then from there up

basically the cabin of the plane had been destroyed and reduced to rubble. >> reporter: government officials say all passengers and crew, around 150 people are feared dead with more likely casualties on the ground. nigeria has a poor air safety record. investigators are already trying to find out what caused a cargo plane from lagos to crash in nearby ghana killing ten people. now a new investigation into another major air disaster. the cause is yet unknown. on a much lighter note, london's biggest party of the year, not counting the olympics, is off and running. more than a million people joined in on the fun as the royal family officially kicked off the queen's diamond jubilee, celebrating her remarkable six decades on the throne. it with was a scene watched around the world. nbc's anabel roberts takes us to the floating festivities. >> reporter: this has been a day where the modern monarchy is

mixed with tradition. it was prince charles' idea to have a river pageant to commemorate his mother's 60 years on the throne. he was inspired by history. some 350 years ago, river pageants were often held for great royal events. this most certainly was that. a thousand boats on the river, ranging from small river boats and kayaks to big paddle steamers and everything in between. >> i think it's fantastic. i think -- i've got three children, and we're here having a fantastic time. i think in their lifetime and our lifetime we're not going to see it again, so we're trying to make the most of it. >> reporter: the idea was to demonstrate britain's rich maritime history. there were boats that took part in the rescue mission to rescue allied soldiers during world war ii. there was even one boat that took part in queen victoria's diamond jubilee celebrations back in 1897. the queen herself traveled in a barge specially decorated with ornate carvings and 10,000 flowers beside, of course, her husband prince philip and her son prince charles, and, of

storm for this time of year is moving onshore. it's going to bring gusty winds to the four corners regions, fire problems could get worse and then the northwest just a plume of light rain coming right up i-5 pushing towards past the cascades and streaming up through western washington state including spokane. here's how the storm system looks. the jet stream taking a big dip here and rolling to the north. this high pressure ridge around the four corners and into the rockies, this is huge. this is a blocking pattern. it's not going to allow the storm to push through. it has to go up and over. it will drag the front through idaho and montana with strong thunderstorms today. everywhere else should be dry. vegas to phoenix still very warm, salt lake city near 98 today. that's a loo is high.

his government was not involved in the massacre of more than a hundred people last week. he said, quote, not even monsters would carry out such a crime. in egypt the top prosecutor plans to appeal the life prison sentence given to former president hosni mubarak. massive crowds in cairo's tahrir square are demanding he get the death penalty for protestor deaths in the uprising that forced him from power last year. today in northwest pakistan a u.s. drone fired rockets that killed 15 people in the tribal region near the afghan border. it was the third attack in three days, and all told, 27 people have died. the space shuttle "enterprise" made its final trip on a barge through new york harbor past the statue of liberty and down the skyline. today it will be lifted up to its permanent home, the flight deck of the "uss intrepid," the sea, air and space museum. and a new miss usa has been crowned in las vegas. miss rhode island, olivia culpo answered a question about

transgender contestants, saying it would be fair for a man who became a woman to be named miss universe. well, now here's an early look at how wall street's going to kick off the day. the dow opens at 12,118 after nosediving 274 points on friday. s&p shot down 32. the nasdaq plunged 79. taking a look at overseas trading this morning, in tokyo the nikkei sank 144 points while in hong kong the hang sang fell a whopping 372. the first full week of june is already off to a rough start. overseas this morning, the broader tokyo market fell to a 28-year low as investors worry about a trifecta of economic fears, a potential eurozone break-up, a u.s. economic relapse, and a sharp slowdown in china. on friday news the u.s. economy added only 69,000 jobs in may wiped out all of the dow's gains for the year. that dismal jobs report pushed

oil to fresh eight-month lows, near $82 a barrel this morning. looking ahead, fed chairman ben bernanke delivers his economic outlook to congress on thursday. friday's selloff has sparked some talk about whether the fed could signal further stimulus later this month. also this week investors will gauge the strength of the economy from fresh factory data and the fed's beige book report. "the new york times" reports bank of america shareholders have filed a lawsuit alleging banks' executives knew about mounting mortgage losses at merrill lynch, but failed to inform them before they approved the $50 million purchase back in 2008. "the wall street journal" reports facebook is working on technology that would allow children younger than 13 to use the social networking site with parental supervision. all the latest video game gadgets will be on display this week at this year's electronics entertainment expo in l.a. and it's that time again. the bidding has begun at $25,000

good morning. if you're just waking up, this is "early today." and in sports last night in the nba's eastern finals the celtics hung on after blowing a huge lead to tie their series with the miami heat. here's nbc's mario solis with an early look at all your sports headlines. hi, there. good morning. lebron james fouled out for the first time in four years, dwyane wade missed a game-winning shot, and the celtics have evened up the series with an overtime win in boston. game four of the eastern conference finals, celtics wanted this one from the start. rajon rondo threads the needle to paul pierce. rondo with 15 points and 15 dimes. celts up 14 at the break. heat make it a game in the

second half. lebron james calls his own number, throws it down. miami starting to claw their way back into it. then in the fourth it's lebron again. this time he ties the game with under a minute left. he had 29. off to overtime. moments after paul pierce fouled out, james gets tangled up with mickael pietrus. lebron's night is over. the first time he's ever fouled out in a playoff game. final seconds, heat down two. no lebron, so everybody on the planet knows wade is going to take the final shot. gets an open look, but can't knock down the three at the buzzer. celtics hold serve and even the series with a 93-91 win in overtime. nascar now, jimmie johnson took the checkered flag at dover. it's his record-tying seventh win at the monster mile. let's go to golf. tiger began the final round of the memorial four shots off the lead, but came roaring back. drains a long birdie putt on seven. just getting warmed up. on 16 with his ball buried in the rough, jack nicklaus calling this the most unbelievable shot he's ever seen.

two musicians in nepal have great tunes but the only problem is no one is around to hear it. that's because they put on the show almost 21,000 feet atop one of the country mountain peaks. amid freezing temperatures they rocked out hoped to snag the record for highest concert on land. the gig is also for a good cause, raising money for underprivileged kids. >> great view. >> no kidding. well, if you always opt for the elevator instead of the stairs here's a little inspiration. a building in frankfurt is home to one of europe's longest stairwell races. the sky run. competitors of all ages try to climb over 1200 steps to the top of the 61 story building and the fastest time, if that doesn't seem tough enough, a group of firefighters did it wearing full gear.
