they've known each other for several years. i think their first kiss was actually on screen. that's interesting. anyway, so there they are. >> the family is apparently thrilled. they feel like he's already been a part of the family for a while anyway. you know, i'm always -- i always personalize things when you hear stories like that. i have a 22-year-old son now. and an almost 19-year-old daughter. would i want cassie at this point -- would i want either one of them getting married? no. but, you know, are you going to support your child in the decisions you make? you raise them to make good choices. then you have to give them the freedom to make them. >> do what they're going to do. >> my dad used to say to me. sorry if i quote him so much. especially with father's day coming up so soon. you and i both were blessed to have unbelievable dads. my daddy used to say to me so many great things. but he said i love you too much to deny you the privilege of making mistakes. think about that. >> sure. >> that's what you learn the most from. i made a mistake with my first marriage. you did, too. >> i'm always getting thrown into the whole thing.

you did, too. anyway. >> we have so much in common, hodie and i. >> yes, we do. we have some news about sheryl crow. we don't want you to be alarmed by this news. she's saying everything's fine. before we tell you this, she found out that she had a brain tumor that is benign. she was -- i guess she was singing on stage and she was forgetting the lyrics to her songs that she wrote. >> but she knows better -- she's probably sung thousands of times. >> she went in -- >> at first didn't she think it's just because -- >> she's 50. she joked about. she was a little concerned she couldn't remember the words to "soak up the sun." she went in for an mri. they said she had a benign brain tumor. she has no symptoms. she says, look, everything's fine. she's on tour. she mentioned it randomly, she said, in an interview. wasn't even like she came out with a statement. >> because she has battled very courageously breast cancer in the past it makes it more of a news item. i like the way she handled her

life through that as well. she's fun. again, she doesn't let something define her. it's a part of her life. she pushes through. >> absolutely. >> comes out stronger in the end. >> she's almost kind of surprised everyone's talking about it. that's the feeling with her. >> she has some competition about that. you know famous tan lady? tan mom? a new picture has surfaced. >> please look at it closely. there it is. >> it's not perv's gone wild. let's show this one instead. some people are wondering if this is an actual picture because it looks -- it looks -- first of all, her head looks huge. it's very white. then again, if this was taken 20 years ago or so as her husband says it was, everything was done with flash then. if your head is farther in front -- >> here's another one. decide for yourself as you look at these pictures. anyway, they say this was her about 15 or 20 years ago. >> when she sizzled.

the hit musical "rock of ages" opened at stores on broadway three years ago. starting june 16th, you won't have to come to new york city to enjoy it. >> that's because the show has been adapted into a feature film with an all-star cast including actress malin akerman. malin plays a "rolling stone" magazine reporter who gets under the skin of one washed up rock star played by tom cruise. take a look. >> you know, some people have said that you've become quite difficult to work with.

it was actually a kiss that -- the one that you're talking about. >> we've heard about. >> later on, it's sort of like our -- we know this is true love. we're going to be together forever kind of moment. so he walks in and in the script it says it's the tonguiest tongue kiss of all times. how do you -- what are we going to do? he just goes, you guys, go at it. tom, if you've got to lick her eyeball, lick her eyeball. i was, like? oh, my god. it literally is for me a cringing moment. i saw it, i was like, i can't watch this. >> did you instinctively know how to do this? >> we know how to do this. we were pros. >> he's such a nice person, though, right? >> unbelievable. >> i'm sure he put you at ease about it before you started. >> it's so funny because it's tom cruise. we all know him. he's legendary. >> can you ever forget that? >> not really. but he walks in, instead of coming across as the star that he is, he really is just one of your peers.

he's going to be your co-worker. we end up working together. he's so generous. he's so present all the time. >> what was it like, you had a duet with him. so you two -- so he actually sang? >> he actually sang. he is unbelievable. is there anything this man can't do? he is an amazing singer. the vocal coach actually said, you know, if he wanted to he could be an opera singer. >> you're kidding me. >> i told him, you know, if the acting thing didn't work out. >> what a great cast you guys had on this, right? what was it like working with the group? >> unfortunately, i didn't have many scenes -- just scenes with tom and paul giammatti, who was incredible. i didn't get a chance to work with everyone. we sort of went in and out. i met everyone. they're all wonderful. adam shankman said it was a blast to shoot.

time for more of our special series, how to make money at home. how to throw a successful tag sale. >> as the weather heats up and before summer vacation hits, it's prime time to pull out all that stuff you don't have any use for anymore and get some money out of it. >> "better homes & gardens" magazine's amy panos is here. >> a great way to kick off a tag sale. who would have thought food and drink? >> customers are always a little happier if you give them something to snack and nibble when they come to your sale. >> in life that's true. >> a little sangria. >> this is a virgin one but we can pretend. >> we don't pretend around here. we don't believe in faking it. >> it's about setting up the sale like your favorite retail store. >> making people at home. >> right. >> often you look at an item. sometimes there's a tag that has a price on it.

you say put more stuff on there. not just the price. >> i do. exactly. the tag should include everything from how big it is to the price to a little sale line about why somebody should buy it. three great ideas for getting your tag sale organized. in is a rolling garment rack. $20 from the container store. it does an awesome job of displaying all the clothes for the sale. >> hot pink baby doll sun dress, $10, size 4. >> get specific. do the work for the customer. a drying rack is a fantastic way to display anything fabric. >> dish towel. never been used. >> exactly. dish towels. table cloths. things like that. >> when it comes to pricing items, i would never know how much you should ask for a dish towel or, you know. >> you should be lower than you think you might need to be. take the retail price. start about 25% of that. you want the stuff to move. >> the whole point is to get rid of it. >> the whole point is to get rid of it and save money on the side. >> should you haggle back and forth. >> people who come to a tag sale, it's fun for them to haggle. >> sometimes there's so much junk on the table you can't see anything. >> this is an awesome way to get

chicago. 81 in dallas. 73 in los angeles. we've had some snow in the northwest at glacier national park. quieting down with the exception of eastern texas and again, that threat of showers and thunderstorms up around the western lakes continuing on friday. foe 'tis the heat building up to the canada border. on saturday, as far as any of your plans go, much of the country looking quiet. we'll watch some showers from places like houston over to new orleans down into orlando we could see wet weather. on sunday, it's mainly going to be southeast again. otherwise we'll warm up to 81 in denver. a nice quiet day expected for you. on monday, showers push in closer to the ohio valley as we start off the workweek as more across the southeast. this is beneficial rains. north florida, the rain has been

it's very dicy. mpaa now tells you every single thing that's in it. read that. for instance, one of the trends this summer is smoking pot on camera. that's a pg-13 film. >> are you kidding? >> i didn't know that. >> they have changed. remember when "midnight cowboy" was an x-rated film? you weren't born. >> i don't know what you're talking about. we're going to get to a lot of the movies in a second. if people want to watch something at home, a lot of people can't afford to go out to the big screen, what do you think is a good one? >> can't take the whole family, yeah. >> i think these movies like "monsters, inc.," and more recent ones, everybody is aware of them. go back. now on "today's kitchen" what's cooking? we're kicking off soft shell crab season. the recipe includes lemon bread crumbs, asparagus. >> bill telepan is ready to stir that up. chef and owner of the telepan restaurant in new york city. these are one of my favorite things. love it when they come into season. >> me, too. around mother's day is when they're really thriving. we just put them on the menu at

the restaurant. >> how are we cooking these up? >> i'm going to make a bread crumb mixture using sour dough bread crumbs. lemon juice and zest to give it a little flavor. parsley and salt. we'll mix that up real quick. i'm going to just lightly bread them. you don't want to dredge them too much in there. it'll take away the flavor of the crab. >> you want to taste the crab. >> you want to taste the crab. this way this will help. just give them a little crispiness. a little dip in the flour. you got to get them cleaned by your fishmonger. you don't want to take them home and have them running around in your house. >> you don't want to ask where they've been. >> no. put them in a little oil. this is sort of -- >> just olive oil? >> olive oil or vegetable oil. you want to start it off a little cooler than this. let it go. you don't want the crumbs to burn. if you start them off like a little low pan and it comes up to a sizzle, you can pop them
