he's going to be your co-worker. we end up working together. he's so generous. he's so present all the time. >> what was it like, you had a duet with him. so you two -- so he actually sang? >> he actually sang. he is unbelievable. is there anything this man can't do? he is an amazing singer. the vocal coach actually said, you know, if he wanted to he could be an opera singer. >> you're kidding me. >> i told him, you know, if the acting thing didn't work out. >> what a great cast you guys had on this, right? what was it like working with the group? >> unfortunately, i didn't have many scenes -- just scenes with tom and paul giammatti, who was incredible. i didn't get a chance to work with everyone. we sort of went in and out. i met everyone. they're all wonderful. adam shankman said it was a blast to shoot.

the box office is bursting with plenty of choices for you and your family this summer. which movies are actually suitable for your kids and what to those movie ratings really mean? >> fandango family film mom will tell us all about some of the most anticipated and parent approved films coming out this summer. nice to see you. >> sometimes you see a pg-13. you wonder if that's going to be okay. how do you know what's right? >> pg-13 is the enigma for parents. movies like "the avengers." you're like, that's fine. then you have "the dark knight." >> you've got to know your kid, first and foremost. >> exactly.

it's very dicy. mpaa now tells you every single thing that's in it. read that. for instance, one of the trends this summer is smoking pot on camera. that's a pg-13 film. >> are you kidding? >> i didn't know that. >> they have changed. remember when "midnight cowboy" was an x-rated film? you weren't born. >> i don't know what you're talking about. we're going to get to a lot of the movies in a second. if people want to watch something at home, a lot of people can't afford to go out to the big screen, what do you think is a good one? >> can't take the whole family, yeah. >> i think these movies like "monsters, inc.," and more recent ones, everybody is aware of them. go back. "homeward bound." >> i loved that film. >> is that the one where bruce willis was one of the voices of the dog? >> yeah. two dogs and a cat. sally fields was the cat. >> that movie is delicious. >> the dogs and cats talk with vsp. >> "madagascar 3." darling.

the sequels are great. >> fandango did a poll asking which family films people are interested in seeing. "madagascar 3: europe's most wanted" is number one. >> it's the third in a trilogy. a lot of people think it's the best. >> another popular one returning, "ice age." the first one was great, too. >> we're on the fourth edition. manny, diego, they wind up drifting away as continents become continents. keke palmer joins the cast. good for the kids. they love her. >> pixar can't go wrong in the next one you're talking about. home run after home run. >> people take it for granted now. pixar film is coming out. of course we're going to go see it. >> they branded it with excellence. good for them. >> the first heroine in "brave." the first female protagonist. the animation is really sophisticated. a lot of parents are very

excited about "brave." >> who does the voice of the princess? >> kelly macdonald. >> new name to me. >> "diary of a wimpy kid." the books are obviously huge. >> people underestimate these films. they are clean. love this book series. the movies are hilarious. ones the whole family can go to. greg's older brother is always terrorizing him in some way. he makes such horrible decisions. >> real quick, lastly, "the odd life of timothy green." >> this is one more for parents. sometimes there's movies you go see with the kids. then there's movies for parents kids can come see. that's one of these. this is about a couple who can't have kids. and so they take all of their hopes and dreams, put them in a box and bury it. move on. the next day the kid of their dreams appears. >> i'm going to love that. >> it's magical. like "field of dreams" for a childless couple. >> tara, thank you very much. lots up this summer. up next, tender, crispy

now on "today's kitchen" what's cooking? we're kicking off soft shell crab season. the recipe includes lemon bread crumbs, asparagus. >> bill telepan is ready to stir that up. chef and owner of the telepan restaurant in new york city. these are one of my favorite things. love it when they come into season. >> me, too. around mother's day is when they're really thriving. we just put them on the menu at

the restaurant. >> how are we cooking these up? >> i'm going to make a bread crumb mixture using sour dough bread crumbs. lemon juice and zest to give it a little flavor. parsley and salt. we'll mix that up real quick. i'm going to just lightly bread them. you don't want to dredge them too much in there. it'll take away the flavor of the crab. >> you want to taste the crab. >> you want to taste the crab. this way this will help. just give them a little crispiness. a little dip in the flour. you got to get them cleaned by your fishmonger. you don't want to take them home and have them running around in your house. >> you don't want to ask where they've been. >> no. put them in a little oil. this is sort of -- >> just olive oil? >> olive oil or vegetable oil. you want to start it off a little cooler than this. let it go. you don't want the crumbs to burn. if you start them off like a little low pan and it comes up to a sizzle, you can pop them

into a 425 degree oven for three or four minutes. it'll come out nice. >> for the herbiole, capers here. anchovies. garlic. we're going to make a mash here. >> i'm always amazed when chefs come on. because they still have their fingers. you know? it scares me to death. >> it's funny. one time you go like this. >> stop! >> we're going to mash this up to, like, a paste. we're going to mix this, put this into -- with some mayonnaise. taragon, parsley, thyme, chives, a little dill. shallots. mayonnaise. this is the herbiole. mix it up nice. make this an hour ahead, maybe the day before. >> chill it a little? >> chill it. let the flavors marinate. >> flip that baby?

>> one side. good for now. >> mm-hmm. >> here. we got the real thing going. we're okay. we have some asparagus that we browned. a little olive oil. add some vegetable stock and some butter. braise them in there. we're going to just plate this here. >> so pretty when they're long and skinny like that. >> they're really wonderful now. we've got a couple crabbies here. >> you never did turn it over. you cooked it all the way through on one side. >> then he put it in the oven on the other side. >> put it in the oven. after it comes out of the oven about one minute. >> you want it crispy. you want it a little crispy. >> for sure. go in there. some roasted potatoes, too. >> rip it apart. >> we got a lot to move on here. >> delicious. awesome. delicious. tomorrow, jada pinkett smith stops by. plus ambush makeovers. >> everyone has a story.
