southbound 29 heading through vallejo and toward discovery kingdom which is closed by the way right now. a slower drive showing up. those crews tying up traffic. we have detours in place. just off 80, much more to talk about. back to you. >> a golf fan? the u.s. open championship now days away and we can tell you there are new ground rules for fans attending the event. marla tellez is live at the tournament shuttle stop at candlestick park with a look at what fans need to know. >> reporter: good morning. unless you have special credentials and planning to head to the u.s. open this week there are two ways to get there. the stick is one of them, it's a three-step process. you can see the u.s. open tents are set up in this parking lot. people are getting ready for the first shuttle that leaves at 6:00 this morning. here's what you need to know. drive yourself to candlestick park, you're going to enter gate 5. this is where you leave your

car. you then hop on a shuttle bus that will take to you the admissions gate nike lake ver d versed. you have to go through a screening process like what you experience at the airport. officials will look for prohibited items such as any sort of electronics including your cell phone. no cell phones allowed at the u.s. open. but there are free public phones on site. once you're on the shuttle bus it's going to take 30 minutes. service runs from 6:00 this morning until 9:00 tonight. that is every day through the tournament. 125 buses will be in rotation. another option is b.a.r.t. you use the yellow or red line. you take that to the colma station. today it is day two of three practice rounds, the draw today is tiger woods and casey martin, the former stanford teammates

beach apartment. officers found what appeared to be an explosive device and weapons in the unit. they also found bullet hole in the wall. residents in the apartment were evacuated. police wept to the building after the tenant's friends called saying the woman was in psychiatric distress at work. she was taken to the hospital for observation. >> friends remember a runner who died of a result of being punched while partying after this year's bay to breakers. san francisco police searching for a number of people seen whan could be the final photograph of the victim. this was taken moments before the attack. 31-year-old stephen martin seen in the bright green wig, police say minutes after this was taken at sharon meadows in golden gate park someone punched martin, he fell, hitting his head on the ground. he never regained consciousness and his family took him off life support on friday. his friends created a facebook page asking people to submit

photos and videos which will be turned over to police in hopes of helping solve this case. >> we can't get enough photographs. anybody watching, listening, error on the side of caution. if you think you have a picture that may be at all helpful, please send it along, video also. >> martin lived in santa clara and owned a consulting business. police say the attack happened following a dispute over a cell phone. >> starting next month half of the fire stations in east contra costa fire district will be shut down. they close at bethel island, and brentwood. 16 of the district's 43 firefighters will lose their jobs. the district approved the cuts monday night, just days after voters failed to approve a measure to add a partial tax to keep the stations up and running. it's a tough compromise but there will be enough on each

engine to handle each call. >> based on the situation that we're in out here and the number of calls that they go on and the types of calls, it's real critical that we maintain adequate staffing of the engines. so we're happy with the fact that there will be three firefighters on each engine. >> $3 million total now cut from the fire district. >> hot weather and dry brush forcing the closure of a popular park. san jose locking the gates to alum rock park on today's date. they are doing this for the extreme fire conditions in the area and the closure will reduce the potential for fire-related emergencies in the park. no word when the park will reopen. a fire danger also at the marin headlands and near woods. >> keeping our eye on the forecast as well, see if we have another hot one. i think a slight cooldown today?

tuesday. >> good morning. we're continuing with our reports here for 880 at 92. we have that connector with construction crews but no closure, that is a smooth drive onto and off of the 880 from the san mateo bridge or the approach on 92. we're looking at more construction northbound, around alcosta, traditional slowing north of the dublin interchange. if you drive through the area it's not a big deal. a lane blocked that will cause you to move to your left. a slower drive showing up on our sensors. that is my concern, 14 or 15 minutes but the slowdown, usually don't have speeds in the 50s. there are no incidents right now for that portion of 580. a blip for 880 but not a concern. 280 and 85, that interchange. i have a twitter message here,

>> all of those updates a way for apple to tell its users even if you don't have the latest in hardware, there is enough software to keep you interested and up to date. in san francisco, scott budman, nbc bay area news. >> 4:47. wall street traders riding a roller coaster. let's check on the markets early with kayla. good morning. >> good morning. futures are slightly higher after yesterday's sell-off and we're saying so much for the relief rally after spain reached that deal to rescue the banks. the dow, nasdaq and s&p 500 closing down more than 1%, the poorest start to a week in the markets this year. the focus is now shifting to other hot spots in europe such as greece, asia markets falling but europe is slightly higher. in the u.s. data on import

prices. the dow falling to 12,411. the nasdaq losing. hiring prospects improved slightly but a report by a staffing firm man power says companies are only adding workers when they have to. employers are reluctant to invest in new people until they see a rebound in demand for goods and services. not even the nobel prize is resistant to the downturn. the foundation is cutting the cash award for the prize by 20% from 1.4 to $1.1 million. it's the first nominal cut in the award amount since 1949. the prize organizers who have a budget of about $17 million are looking to cut other costs such as the award ceremony. not a lot of good news on the markets but that's what we have this morning. >> thank you. >> she's just the messenger.

start, temperatures will be nice. we're going to get a nice sea breeze. comfortable conditions, as we head to the second half of the day and the coast, hot. 80 degrees. we smashed temperature records. sunnyvale hit 99 degrees. and it's not even summertime yet. the first official day of summer is the 20th. first full day the 21st and temperatures are expected to remain warm. but we'll get a little cooldown through tomorrow, jet stream taking a dip. area of low pressure riding to our north that's going to usher in a stronger onshore flow. tomorrow morning, wednesday, a little more fog than what we expect this morning. then the sun will break through by about noon tomorrow. 81 down from 91 today. we're going to start to rise back up in temperature, thursday through the weekend. that means hot conditions for all of the golfers headed to the bay area. 73 in san francisco thursday, 76 on friday. and then we warm up in time for

4:54. it is day two of the child sex abuse trial against former penn state football coach jerry sandusky.

we've got a live look at the courthouse in bellefonte, pennsylvania where the prosecution will continue calling witnesses today. jurors will hear from a man known as victim number 1 whose mother alerted administrators at his high school about sandusky's behavior. that prompted the investigation that led to the current trial. yesterday a man known as victim 4 told the court sandusky first assaulted him when he was around 13. the man says the sexual contacts lasted five years. the alleged victim says he did not come forward because he was embarrassed and he enjoyed the gifts and access to penn state. his relationship with sandusky provided. the defense vaj is to show sandusky's accusers are motivated by money. >> first barry bonds, now roger clemens. closing arguments today in the perjury trial of former pitching great roger clemens. the cy young award winner accused of lying to congress in 2008 when he testified he never
