lots to get to. let's check the forecast and say good morning to meteorologist christina loren. >> good morning. one day closer to friday. 55 degrees right now in livermore, it's comfortable out there. throughout this afternoon another day with unseasonably cool temperatures. this morning you might have to turn on your windshield wipers up and down the peninsula, even in the north bay a little drizzle from thick fog. i'll let you know when the sun's going to break through. first, see how your drive is. >> we have to slow it down a little bit. 680 south of that walnut creek interchange, highway 24, we're looking at a disabled truck in lanes. we don't see slowing but it has been there about 20 minutes. and reports are it's in the middle of the freeway so one of your second or third lane. watch for activity. no reports of problems as far as the sensors go. further south, more flashing

lights, your typical closures for off ramps for 680 both directions for the next hour. we'll watch as those clear up. >> thanks so much. new this morning, san jose firefighters investigating several suspicious fires that happened a few miles apart earlier this morning. marla tellez joins us live with the latest on that investigation g. morning, marla. >> reporter: good morning, these suspicious fires were set within walking distance of each other in a duplex area in south san jose off 85 and blossom hill road. this is where one of two suspicious fires. here is a look at the damage. they were both called in as garbage can fires. you can see the debris. the scene has been cleared. firefighters are gone but again, a look at the damage. we just talked to a family who has been displaced. the fire spread up here. fortunately the flames did not make it to where they lived, but

they were rushed out of their home just after midnight. we just talked to the teenage daughter. this is what she had to say. >> you don't have a home up there? >> no, because it destroyed the whole electricity panel so we have no lights or gas and like our food is going to get spoiled up there. the red cross came and helped us. >> reporter: as you heard from jocelyn, the red cross is here. jocelyn and her parents are on their way to a nearby hotel. those three plus ten others at this unit are without a home. it is a similar situation, literally in walking distance around the bend at another complex. we have video to show you there. that whole area has been boarded up. we understand that about ten more people there are without a home. all in all this morning, 17 people displaced. the best news here, though, is that no one was hurt.

but again, one of two suspicious fires started here in a garbage can fire. fire officials tell us they are investigating arson investigators are working on this case this morning. live in south san jose, marla tellez, "today in the bay." >> antioch police continue their search for an armed gun man whose crime was caught on camera. the suspect seen walking up to aaron gilbert after he parks his car. the gunman pulls the trigger but the gun does not fire. a neighbor who heard the commotion opened his garage door trying to distract the suspect and gilbert manages to slip inside. the neighbor says people in that community watch each other's back. >> we are a neighborhood here. the people here we for the most part try our level best to have a good neighborhood watch and do what we can to help each other. >> wow. gilbert says he is happy to be alive. he installed the surveillance

system last month for safety and for peace of mind. >> what timing. well, this morning a teenager is under arrest after deputies say tried to run him down with a stolen car. it happened at rutgers and fordham streets. the slaf's office says they were trying to arrest the teen when he sped toward them. a deputy fired at least one shot but the teenager managed to escape. police found and arrested him. >> a priest, beaten two years ago, will not take the stand again to testify against his attacker. a judge in san jose letting father gerald lindner take the fifth during the trial, 44-year-old william lynch. lynch admits to beating lindner out of anger over being molested by the priest. lindner denies the molesting. lynch and his brother in testimony last week, prosecutors acknowledged would be a lie. the defense attorney in this case, their side says it's being robbed of the chance to get the

truth out of the priest. >> we were supposed to get the opportunity to question him and cross-examine him and we don't get to. i think it's a laughing stock of justice. >> lynch's attorneys say they will refile a third motion for a mistrial this morning. >> 4:36. a prostitution bust has turned into a rescue for a group of teen girls. the fbi says they were being exploited as sex slaves. the fbi along with several bay area police and sheriff departments say six teen girls at the center of a prostitution ring were victims, sometimes brought here from other countries. >> they are brought here under false pretenses, they are told for this amount of money they can get their visa, they can live in this country and you can never get out of it. they are being prostituted and working their way for their rent, for clothing, for their trip over here. so, it's a never ending circle.

>> instead of being arrested, the teenagers will get help with housing and counseling to ensure they don't return to those who exploited them. the accused pimps could face charges of human trafficking. >> it's back to the drawing board for gilroy schools in attempt to raise the sales tax to pay for classroom improvements has failed. it would have been only the second district in the state to take such a step a. proposal to put a quarter to half cent tax increase on the november ballots came up short. >> the kids that are suffering. we don't have the programs that we used to. and the thing is we've got to let the citizens decide. >> they can choose to go on internet sites out of the state to avoid paying sales tax. so that's not something we want to encourage if we're trying to grow business in gilroy. >> gilroy right now facing an $8 million shortfall in its school budget. both sides say it's possible they may revisit this issue in the future.

>> the contra costa county district trying to save a third of its fire stations. the district says a total of 28 fire stations are on the line unless voters pass a tax hike in november. earlier this month a partial tax known as measure s fell short forzing east contra costa count tee close three stations. they are expected to ask for an annual tax for five year, about half the number of years as the failed measure s. >> some of the most vulnerable residents could take a hit in sacramento's latest proposed budget cut looking to eliminate the healthy families program. it provides medical insurance for low income families. supporters say it would save tens of millions. critics say it will force nearly a million children into the strained medical system. a vote is scheduled tomorrow.

>> bus passes are up for grabs. giving away eight day paces between the east bay and san francisco today. the passes are only for new riders and they are good through july 3. the give away is part of an event that starts at noon and the temporary terminal between howard and beale. >> we toss it over to meteorologist christina loren for a look at your tuesday forecast. >> hey, good morning to you. a pretty windy day yesterday. the winds are starting to calm down. as a result that marine layer is developing this morning along the peninsula. you might have to use your windshield wipers. we had an area of low pressure come through, all the showers have subsided but very strong onshore flow means steady drizzle along the peninsula. as we head throughout the day your temperatures are going to climb from the 50s into the 70s, by noon your full forecast in moments. >> a look here off of 84 and 680, we're looking at an accident through sunol.

this is not affecting the highways but foothill road which is a major cutthrough for folks, that is an issue. you'll see a tow truck likely going to have to block at least one of the lanes restricting flow off 680 and 84. through sunol a smooth drive. at the bottom of the screen, 680 out of the south bay, i'll keep tracking that. we have construction eastbound 237 to 880, that connector is closed as well as to the left, we see 85 at 280, that transition closed. for another hour. a live look at the san mateo bridge, a new camera guy in hd now, a clearer look at potentially slow traffic. that's not so bad. back to you. >> very nice. nice work, mike. giants fans, dodger fans have extra company during games in san francisco this week. police and security wearing dodger blue, a little undercover effort to crack down on fan violence.

officers are hoping to eject fans who take the competition too far. they are also enforcing a zero tolerance for foul language and violence. fan mark says it's a good plan. >> i think it's right for all of the fans and safety and it's a step in the right direction. especially with what happened at dodger stadium last year. >> he is talking about the beating of bryan stow on opening day last year in l.a., that left him severely handicapped with a brain injury. during the three-game series uniformed and undercover officers will be out in force. the giants beat the dodgers last night, two games left in the series. >> pitch a perfect game. ed lee presenting matt cain with a key to the city tonight to celebrate that first perfect game in giants history. the event starts at 7:00 tonight

suffering from a case of the mondays. the dow has been down the last eight of nine mondays. so if you're looking to invest long term maybe that's the day you want to buy. stocks dropped yesterday as investors were worried about europe and the possible outcome of the meeting later this week with european leaders. spain has requested a bailout for its banks and cyprus makes the fifth eurozone member country to ask for aid. greece's finance minister is resigning four days after being named to the job. europe slightly lower, asia mixed overnight. here in the states we're going to look for home price data and consumer confidence later this morning. the dow starts at 12,502 after losing 138 on one of those blue mondays. the nasdaq falling to 2636. facebook named cheryl sandberg to the board. she is the first female director

at the company. many were saying they should have a woman on board. sandberg joins from google in 2008. she has been a vocal critic. meantime, more relief at the gas pump coming your way. the government says the national average for regular unleaded dropped 9 cents in the past week to $3.43 a gallon, a five-month low. gas has dropped 50 cents over the past three months. out in california the issue had been refineries, a lot are starting to come back on line so that's helping with the downward pressure, not to mention oil prices below 80 bucks again for the first time in about a year. >> yeah. a lot of people want to travel this summer, not complaining. thank you very much. >> how about this. $4 million. that's what one couple on marin island paid for a house. >> to tear it down.

the house was built nearly 100 years ago. it had fallen into foreclosure and disrepair. plus it blocked the view of the bay. >> come on. >> you know what, clark and sharon, they decided to do something. they bought that 6500 square foot house and had it torn down. >> a week ago you couldn't see anything from here except the gable end of the house. now we opened it up for everybody. >> the view is really nice now. we see across the bay. it looks really good. it's really improved the view. when the american cup is on we'll have a good view. >> they didn't want to speak on camera but they plan to replace the house with a garden to continue to show off the neighborhood's views. they are doing it -- those are good neighbors. >> 4 million bucks, just put flowers which will be nice. >> let's talk about that weather

out there and the gardens that will be growing in other neighborhoods. >> today is a great day to get that garden going if you have been putting it off. we have a great looking forecast for today. not too hot, not too cold. perfect for getting the kids outdoors as well. after all we are now well into the heart of summertime for the kidos before you know it back to school shopping time. southwest wind now, in fairfield, 14 miles per hour, still gusty in parts of the bay area. but the breeze will start to relax the next few hours, we're talking about calm conditions, as a result temperatures are going to be nice and comfortable. we don't have to worry about a windchill factor. as we head throughout the morning your temperatures are in the 50s. 55 degrees in livermore, 52 in sunnyvale and 51 in santa cruz. jet stream is sitting to our north so that's going to keep the winds in place for today. but it won't be as breezy as it was yesterday. especially at the coast where we expect the strongest gusts. a little drizzle tomorrow

commute is hopefully making no one nervous. >> they might shake. looking at something we wish would move better. the big rig, south of the walnut creek interchange around south main street, a big rig with a trailer, actually sounds like a double trailer, blocking two lanes. the slow lane is open and the two fast lanes but these cars are having trouble getting by. we might see more slowing and we don't know when they can clear this because the air brakes are locked. further south also construction through danville and san ramon, that's not causing an issue. the bay bridge toll plaza, volume is light. we follow the sigalert through walnut creek. >> this is a day the bride, groom and the wedding party will never forget. >> let's say this one gives a brand new meaning to the phrase taking the plunge. large wedding party on a very small dock, not so great. the newlyweds were posing for
