police right now searching for a suspect this morning after gun fire erupted outside a popular theater in oakland last night. a total of five people were shot. bob redell is live in oakland with more on what led to this gun fire. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. that's why oakland police are speaking with witnesses to try to get a better understanding of what led to this shooting outside of the regularle cinema 9 here in jack london square. this happened 9:20 in the evening, five people were shot. according to one report, three of the victims rode in private cars to oakland's children's hospital, the others transported by ambulance. one found wounded in front of the theater, the other around the block. all five of these people are expected to survive. none of the injuries are life threatening. whoever shot these people is still out there. and police have not released a description. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> also in oakland a firefighter

recovering from injuries received battling a blaze, suffering minor burns while fighting the flames in an abandoned three-story building. neighbors say this is not the first time there have been fires at the site. >> had it extended to the rear of the building we would still be fighting this fire. we called a second alarm right away but i didn't need those because the first alarm company desire the job very well. >> fire officials did not say what it looked like. they said it looked like squatters had been inside the building. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. >> an extremely emotional final day at the alameda county fair. people taking time to honor a jockey who was killed during races on thursday. dozens from the horse racing community and the fair gathering to remember jorge herrera, the 33-year-old died from a head injury after his horse threw him

during a race. herrera is remembered as a man of his word, someone who showed up for people who needed him. >> a lot of people tell you they are going to be there but to this young man he was there, he was a man of his word, dedicated to his craft. it's a tragic loss. >> we can tell you the fair dedicated a race to herrera on that last day of racing. >> 5:03. bay area kayaker was attacked by a great white shark and lived to tell about it. the 52-year-old man from fremont who has only been identified as mel, posted this picture on his blog. he was attacked while fishing 18 kayak. you can see the damage that shark did to the kayak. even left behind a tooth lodged in the side of the boat. on his blog he wrote about the intense moment saying it started with a violent jolt. i saw the shark's head come out of the water and bite the underside. his head was gray and white

under his mouth. i can still see the seriousness on his eyes. the forces of this attack threw me into the water and turned the kayak up side town. >> happy to blog to it. caltrain testing a new system which could make your commute more precise. marla tellez is live in palo alto with an update on how riders are getting a glimpse of the future. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. on average about 42,000 people hop on caltrain daly, monday through friday. safe to say many of these are commuting to work so it's pretty crucial that they arrive on time. good news, caltrain is testing a new system designed to keep passengers better informed about precise arrival and departure times. for passengers and nearby neighbors what does this mean for you? this means that you'll be hearing quite a few test announcements from 10:00 to 3:00, monday through friday this

week. when fully operating the system will deliver your train information one hour before the train is set to arrive, a message will be posted at the station, it will be announced also on the platforms, posted on caltrain's website and passengers can opt for an e-mail or text message. it will include the scheduled arrival time and whether or not the train is running on time or running behind. this all made possible by cal train's gps technology. passengers can expect this to be up and running by the end of the year. marla tellez, "today in the bay." >> thanks. 5:05. mountain view may kill google's plans to build 1100 new apartments because of owls. the company wants to build new housing in the north bayshore area. city leaders are concerned about the impact the housing would have on the rare owl. look at those eyes. neighbors are concerned about the traffic. the council will consider

google's plan as part of the broader development for the coming decade. redwood city may abandon plans to build a downtown 4-star hotel. it will consider a plan to build a 100 rental units next to the caltrain tracks on winslow street instead of the hotel in redwood city. the idea of a downtown hotel has not been completely abandoned, there is just a greater demand for more permanent housing. microsoft will open. service employees have worked in the building since june. the tech giant plans to celebrate the new campus in a grand opening this afternoon. >> 5:06. from a meteorologist, christina tells us a good week to get out and enjoy the sunshine, work up a sweat. >> it's going to be hot. i'm staying in. >> you're going to give your air conditioner a good workout.

temperatures are going to be hot. at the coast, perfection. 60 to start out in sunny veil. 58 in san jose. 56 in livermore. and 55 degrees in san francisco. so yeah, if you have outdoor plans do it early. once we lose the marine layer it's heating up across the bay. close to 90 degrees even here in san jose. up to 86 degrees by noon. you'll be at 91. that's the warmest time of the day, this time of year high pressure is in control of our pattern and going to bring temperatures way up. so we'll talk about that. here is mike. >> a nice follow-up to this issue here. northbound 680 all lanes are cleared as you pass by elpintado. we also have that guardrail that's damaged. it sounds like they are probably going to hold off on the repair until after the morning commute if they need to do it at all as

far as blocking lanes. no slowing south of there. we're looking at the north route, from highway 4 eastbound, the construction closing the freeway opened up and there were no major delays. moving smoothly through antioch, highway 4 at the limit for east and westbound. off of the castro valley y, the debris has been removed. the dumbarton bridge is clear and the construction through baltimoreo has cleared from northbound 101. you may find the off ramp closed for a few minutes. we don't see problems, no slowing. use the oregon expressway. >> thank you. picking up on transportation, here is a heads up. starting today the service making changes. it hopes will make your ride smoother. bus lines, 11 and 65 are now one route. the move gives line 11 riders a

partnership with the labor department. stock futures are lower, again worried about the situation in europe. the debt deal, spain's debt this morning, the 10-year bond above 7% for a yield, that's not good news there. and we're coming off the horrible job numbers on friday. investors will be watching for alcoa earnings this afternoon, that kicks off the second quarter earnings season. overall, s&p 500 earnings expected 1% below last year, and you can expect a lot of companies blame lower results on the impact of the european debt crisis. as far as data, we'll get consumer credit this afternoon. the dow is going to start the day at 12,772, after falling 124 points on friday. and the nasdaq at 2937, after dropping 38. but scott, watch the insurers, the medicaid players now. a conference call going on well point bying america group for $5

kicks in around here. that means we'll see temperatures overnight wednesday into thursday, only in the 70s. you're going to have to use the ac overnight if you want to stay comfortable. 60 in sunnyvale, 58 in san jose. 54 in santa cruz. headed to a really nice afternoon. especially for the first part of the afternoon. not too humid. as we head throughout today and tomorrow, moisture is going to creep up from the south. that means it's going to feel sticky tuesday into wednesday when high pressure is at its strongest. in addition to that with all of the moisture transported from the south we could see isolated thunderstorms. we're watching for that. throughout the second half of wednesday into thursday. 5:16 now. temperatures work out like this. 99 degrees by wednesday. leveling off a touch for thursday into friday. staying hot. then as we head into the weekend you're going to get some heat relief. we're going to feel sticky with clouds increasing throughout

saturday and sunday. not as comfortable as last week. try to make your outdoor plans early as possible. let's check your drive. >> we have a couple of issues for the bay bridge so let's stick this out here for the report. the lower deck out of san francisco, reports of a stall or disabled vehicle, getting over through treasure island. the eastbound blocking the slow lane. no slowing yet so use caution through the tunnel. westbound off of the toll plaza a live look, there is a report of some sort of hazard. sounds like a saw as you come over to hov lanes. watch this car. no problems, so looks like the lanes are clear. but again, we'll watch that commute direction. no slowing yet on our sensors. still more to follow. we'll look at the approach to the bay bridge.

the amazing area, out of the caldecott, those routes are moving smoothly. we have debris opposite your commute. southbound 13 approaching the merge with 580 eastbound. there is some debris. there may be a traffic break but no slowing for 580 or 880. that's a nice drive. further out, we're looking at a 15 minute drive out of the altamont pass. we had slowing from north flynn over to greenville and then things are clearing up down to the dublin interchange and down to the south bay. there are no problems for sunol or fremont. looking at the northbound route, easy drive, look at these speed sensors. you're at the limit for these routes. we'll see 101 and 680 start to show slowing. if things go according to schedule and no accidents so. far none for the south bay. back to you. >> thank you very much. sad news from hollywood a veteran character actor and oscar winner ernest borgnine has

can do about it. >> good morning, jon. at this point you either have interor you don't. if you you have to call your provider. several agencies including the fbi set up special websites and servers that would warn you if you had this malwear on your computer that would cut off your internet at midnight. even facebook would send awe warning if it detected the problem. most people took the action they needed to avoid the wholish view, now as midnight marched around the globe and the fbi started to turn off some of the protections we saw far fewer reports of problems than we first expected. this is not a sign that theish jew overblown but a sign that the good guys did a good job fixing the problem before it became a huge problem f. you do wake up this morning, you can't log on to the web, you will need to call your internet service provider. chances are they are aware of your problem.

>> it's 5:31. this morning the search for a gunman who left five people wounded outside after jack london square movie theater. bob redell joins us live in oakland with more. >> reporter: good morning, laura. we know that police in oakland are still looking for the suspect. they have witnesses, they had been interviewing but have not said where they have gotten in terms of a suspect description or identity of the gunman. this happened around 9:20. it was outside the regal cinema. five people were shot. three of those victims were taken in private cars to oakland children's hospital for treatment. two others were transported by plans when police arrived. they found one wounded, the other around the block. all five are expected to survive. none of the injuries are life threatening. it's not clear what led up to this except did it happen.

reporting live in oakland, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> 5:33. there is a brief reoccupy protest in the east bay, occupy the farm activists broke into the uc-berkeley-owned farm on saturday. that group came back to harvest cr crops they planted before they were evicted. no arrests reported. occupy the farm is also planning to attend an albany city council meeting where the future of the land will be discussed. a south bay church down but not out after break-ins. the church holding sunday mass as usual but what was missing in yesterday's service was all of the music. thieves had broken into the church stealing about $25,000 of industries. church leaders upset over all of the hard work into acquiring

riders are going to get real time information. we have a gps tracking system on our locomotives, we have sensors in the tracks and it's going to give information where their train is in real time. >> if they are, if the train is running behind they will get that alert. how much time will they be given? >> the times are going to be an hour before the train arrives at the station so you're going to be able to sign up for alerts you can get on your cell phone. you can check our website or it will be on the digital message sign in the station. >> a number of ways you can find out when your train is arriving. i understand that this has been a big request from passengers. >> that's right. it's something our riders have been asking for for a long time. we're pleased to be able to give to the them. >> what can they expect this week for the pesting? >> they are going to see routine messages. it's during the middle of the

for people making under $250,000 a year. that is going to be a big, big fight here on capitol hill. and president obama wins, whether he wins or not. because anybody who stands against this proposal looks like they are standing against the middle class. so, from president obama it's easy to throw that out there. but this is important in terms of messaging now because there were some pretty bad headlines the past week about jobs and the lack of creation of jobs to the obama campaign is trying to pivot now to another message, another conversation. something else they are doing right now is trying to put the focus on mitt romney and his personal finances. you're going to hear talk about swiss bank accounts, about offshore corporations. mitt romney's supporters say that's a cheap shot, it's a distraction. right now for the obama campaign it's an important part of the message, a chance to upstage the folks on capitol hill. and jon, one last thing before

because of the fog that we're starting out with. this is san francisco. you can vaguely make out the pyramid in the distance. we'll see fog the first part of the day over the city by the bay. let's show you what it looks like in san jose this morning. clear conditions just about. 58 degrees, we have low clouds hanging out even in livermore and oakland this morning so watch out for that. 55 degrees to start you out. it's a crisp morning. as we head throughout the day high pressure gains control of our pattern and also it's going to amplify throughout the day. what we're talking about is temperatures approaching the 90s in the warmest cities. significantly warmer than where we ended up yesterday. then tomorrow we're still going to have the fog to start but temperatures will creep up. we'll peak through wednesday. you'll get great beach days. looking for the natural ac where you don't have to suffer from the heat, head to pacifica. 65 degrees, comfortable conditions out there. headed to half moon bay, 67, lots of sunshine, wind out of

we can tell you another high tech company taking pinterest. pinterest leaving palo alto for soma? >> i said before that the mayors should be alarmed. managing to attract so much, linkedin opened in the city and it managed to retain twitter and zenga. pinterest will move from at palo alto. you have to tip your hat to san francisco mayor ed lee. his efforts back bid big money from tech angel investors have turned san francisco which has never been known as a business friendly city, back into a high tech magnet wall street worried after friday's jobs report showed us to be stuck in neutral. and there is concern that european leaders aren't moving fast enough to contain the
