the white columns, with law enforcement thinking these could be the ones responsible for a couple of home invasions over the past few days. the man who lives in the home is okay t two suspects did run when police arrived. one person has been detained. police are trying to figure out if he is one of their guys. the other suspect is still out here and hence the reason you've got this presence. he is the focus of a search and several officers going yard to yard. in some instances knocking on doors. >> what makes you think the other one might be in the area. >> because we have a pretty solid perimeter at this point in time and the perimeter was rapidly in place so we believe there is a good likelihood that he is still in the perimeter. >> reporter: officially this neighborhood and the surrounding area is not in lockdown, in other words, no shelter in place for the people who live here. we just spoke with a man who

lives in that house on the corner who had no idea that the was going on until he got up this morning to start his monday morning. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> it could be a very tough commute for muni riders in san francisco. protesters threatening to disrupt service angry over a deadly shooting a year ago today. christie smith is live with how the city is trying to get set for the big time problem. >> good morning, john. demonstrators said on some of their players that they plan to start gathering here at about 6:00 this morning. what we have seen, though, is at least a dozen san francisco police officers standing around in the parking lot as protesters plan to shut down muni bus and rail. both are running up and down market street. the protest against muni and also san francisco police among

others. i do have calls in to san francisco police but muni has put out a message for riders that there could be delays. but the agency doing what it can to avoid disruptions. this on the one year anniversary of kenneth harding. police were chasing him apparently on a fare evasion but there are questions where that bullet came from. demonstrators also protesting a shooting recently in south san francisco. they say they planned to target a third in the bay view district. muni is saying that service could be impacted at upper market and also va view, that serve about 70,000 riders a day. >> if muni gets shut down the commute could get rough. >> mike, what should people do?

>> plan extra time. there are not a lot of great alternates. bay view and mission. basically mass transit is the muni system. the f, the j, church through the muni area for 14th and market would be options. that would be a problem for surface street traffic but around the area affected. b.a.r.t. comes to the area here, they think it's upper market. that's where b.a.r.t. goes unter the line. at the point where we're talking about the protests it has gone to mission. again, coming in out of the city, b.a.r.t. a great option to jump on back at mission and 16th. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 6:04. dozens of east bay parents are fighting to keep a school from shutting down. over the weekend parents protested across from lake view elementary in oakland, one of

five schools scheduled to be shut down. the rally was staged by the same who stage add sit-in at the school earlier this summer. the protesters say the next move is prevent the school district from moving its administrative offices onto the lakeview campus. >> we have developing news to tell you about and the placer county wild fire. it's 30% contained, burned more than 2700 acres. one home and three other structures have been destroyeds in since wednesday, a total of 11 firefighters injured. two area firefighters went north to join a crew of more than 1,000 other firefighters trying to get this under control zlxt we have this california aid system. in the bay area, the fire departments agreed to send out up to 120 engines without being

>> we're following breaking news in the south bay. law enforcement surrounding several blocks in a sunnyvale neighborhood in the search for a possible home invasion suspect. >> this is all centered near the intersection of florence street and washington avenue, not far from matilda and 101. bob redell is live at the scene with new information on what's happening out there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. in the past few moments we know police have taken a second person into custody about a block away from where i'm standing right now. they have also called out an ambulance here, not clear if somebody was injured during the takedown. that again is the second person police have detained. they have been looking for two people but you can see they have not shut down yet until they are

certain that the people that they detained are the ones they have been looking for. police arrived here a couple hours ago because there were two suspicious men down the street, we're at the intersection, looking down florence, near washington in the middle of the street where the police cars are there were two suspicious men who might have been getting ready to break into that home near the intersection with washington. >> we're investigating as to whether or not there was in fact a home invasion and if it is related to a number of home invasions in the area. >> reporter: so again, two people now detained, not clear if those are the people that officers have been looking for. that's why, again, they have not stopped their search. massive law enforcement presence. sunnyvale had to call in help from santa clara, the sheriff's office in santa clara county and mountain view police, they have

a perimeter set up around several blocks in the area and they had canine dogs out here and officers going yard to yard. sometimes door to door. in the past minutes an ambulance arrived. we understand a second person has been taken into custody. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> if you are a muni rider you may want to brace yourself. you may see your commute grinding to a halt. protesters started gathering at 14th and market hoping to shut down service in the area. christie smith is live in san francisco with what is behind this demonstration. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the protesters are starting to gather at 14th and market street, maybe two or three dozen. you can see them across the street standing at 14th and church. there are also a number of police officers here. demonstrators aren't telling us how they plan to shut muni down.

they are also protesting against san francisco police. the demonstrators have signs that have the game ken harding on him. the one-year anniversary of his shooting, after police chased him. this morning his mother is year as well. protesters posted a notice to others to be here. i checked with muni. they posted a notice warning riders of possible delays. harding, 19, was shot after an encounter with police. this was outrage in the community. >> they maked him look less than human. these are our babies. we have populated this world, how dare you take someone away from us. we're here to stand up and make sure that all of these children

on what's happening. what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning to you, jon and marla. police have two people in custody and they do tell us they believe that they are the people they have been looking for, for the past few hours here. in this neighborhood which is not far from where we're at the intersection of florence and washington. the reason why police are not standing down is because they do want to speak with neighbors to make sure there possibly wasn't a third person. not that they think there was but they want to cover their bases. this takedown of this other suspect took place in the past 20 minutes, about a block away from where all of this started. they found him in the back yard of someone's home. they had to call in an ambulance because a canine dog made contact with the person so it's possible he might have been bitten. right now he's in the back of a squad car being interviewed. he might be checked out by paramedics before being booked into jail. another tidbit. police did find some items

two people and three dogs to make it out okay. >> investigators are trying to figure out the cause of that fire. >> starting the investigation, we did rareow down to a section. that would be my investigator to determine that. it's going to take a while. >> the fire went to two alarms. you make sure there is no dry brush or vegetation and make sure tree limbs are at least 10 feet from your home. >> new developments in the placer county fire. the fire is about 30% contained. it burned more than 2400 acres near forest hill and colfax. one home and three other structures have been destroyed since wednesday. a lotle of 11 firefighters have been injured. 200 bay area firefighters headed north to join the crew of more 11. >> we have this mutual aid

system. in the bay area, the fire departments have agreed to send out up to 120 engines without drawing things down to the point where they are stripped. and right now we've sent 15 of about 120. >> firefighters point out following a mild winter things dried out faster this year, adding to the concern. we could see a lot more fires before this season is over. >> the wrongful death trial of convicted killer hans reiser should wrap up today. the computer programmer is expected to give his closing arguments. he is acting as his own attorney defending himself 18 case brought by his children for the murder of their mother. he claims no money but offered to sign over his software earnings to his children. >> a hotel room is a crime scene as police investigate a possible murder.

police were called after a male guest was found dead in his room. at this point there are no obvious signs of foul play but add they are treating the death as suspicious until they get results from the coroner's office. >> a missing mother and her children may be here in the bay area with a man her family does not know. before she disappeared 24 vanessa head said she was meeting her new boyfriend. she was seen getting into a car with a man with her son and daughter. head has a learning disability and her children are so young. the family was last seen july 7th in sparks, nevada near reno. they could be heading to vallejo, sacramento or las vegas. 6:57. protester on the one-year anniversary of a deadly shooting. christie smith is live at 14th

and market with more on what's behind the protest. >> good morning to you. the protesters promised to shut muni down. it looks like they have in one area, when we last checked in there were on 14th and market but they moved to church. we shot video so you can see what protesters are doing as they have their signs and they are blocking the rail entrance. they have signs up. at least when we were there we didn't see any one being arrested but we did see two trains stopped that couldn't get through. they are protesting a number of issues chuding the shooting of ken harding. he was getting on houstony, he was chased by san francisco for fare evasion. there was outrage and questions where the bullet came from.
