>> women's gymnastics wrapped up last night. gabby douglas competed on the balance beam. she slipped on one of her jumps. that forced her out of the competition. it was aly raisman's night to shine. she competed on the floor and she took the gold. >> it feels really great. i've been dreaming of this for a long time, and i also do a lot. i'm happy it finally paid off. >> good for her. jordyn wieber did not medal in that floor exercise. right now to the continuing coverage on that richmond refinery fire. hundreds of angry residents demanding answers at a community meeting with chevron on tuesday night. christie smith is live at that refinery with what they came away with from that meeting. good morning. >> reporter: good morning.

the investigation and repair work is expected to continue today, but at thp point we don't know what caused the leak that led to that huge fire in the first place. it was kind of a lack of solid answers. that was just one that upset the residents that came out last night. there was a very large and angry crowd that showed up last night for a town hall meeting at the richmond auditorium to hear from the panel that included chevron's refinery manager, the air quality management district and the health department. chevron held the forum andhey tried to apologize to the crowd and at least inform them of what they knew after monday's fire that sent a huge plume of black smoke across parts of the bay area and prompted a shelter in place for thousands of people. it sent hundreds to the hospital complaining of eye irritation and breathing problems. many in the audience demanded that the company do more to ensure the safety of its neighbors. >> we thought it was a bomb being dropped on us. this is not the first time. this is the fourth time. >> you talk about a shelter in

place. how in the world -- how long can i hold my breath? >> reporter: a number of protestors showed up, too, outside, concerned that the vegetables they plant nltd area might be contaminated. the air quality management district told the crowd it had collected samples from the ground at at least six locations as of yesterday. they didn't find any specific chemical component that would cause serious health concern, but they were concerned about the impact of the smoke in general. people were upset that they referred to the website for specifics. wanted to mention that chevron has vowed to pay for health expenses it to those aeffectsed by the fire. reporting live in richmond, today in the fwa. >> that refinery fire is depriving prices a few cents higher at the pump and they're expected to climb in a week.

the chevron refinery produces 20% to 25% of northern california's gas. spot prices, which is the term used for the price of gas before it is delivered, spiked 34 cents in the bay area yesterday alone in a week. analysts say bay area driving could be pay as much as $4.10 for a gallon of regular. by labor day the price for a gallon could reach $4.50. >> i thought we were going to get a little break. no break for this man. a san jose man accused of robbery and murder during a ten-day crime spree will spend of rest of his life behind bars. he pleaded guilty and no contest to nine felonies in court yesterday. he's accused of killing and kidnapping cindy nguyen in september. he was charged with shooting a man during a robbery, trying to drive over a police officers and stealing two cars. the plea agreements castillo will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

a woman kid up napped and held captive in the east bay for 18 years is now accusing federal attorneys of underhanded tactics in court. attorneyses for jaycee dugard claim people at the department of justice kept the former chair from appearing in court as dugard's expert witness. dugard is suing the federal government and says the parole commission shares blame for her kidnapped. garrido was out on parole bh he kidnapped dugard in 1991. he was released early from prison. people this morning in orange county bracing for aftershocks following a late at night jolt. a 4.4 quake struck after 11:20 last night in northern orange county. less than a minute later, a 2.7 magnitude aftershock hit the area.

welcome back. what a beautiful start to the today looking outside from the south bay. the forecast is coming up at 4:45. people across the entire country right now remembering the victims of sunday's deadly shooting at a sikh temple in wisconsin in the city where it the shooting took place, hundreds gather for a candlelight vigil as part of national night out. scott walker and congressman paul ryan showed up and lit candles for the six victims killed. tonight the vigil is planned in lafayette park across from the white house in washington, d.c. in the bay area local members of sikh community organizing

several vigils. one will be held at the sikh temple in san jose at 7:00. other services will be held in free monmont and hayward. a man aaccused of the deadly shoot inning tucson pled guilty in federal court. he took responsibility for the shooting rampage that killed six and wounded 13 others. a court appointed psychiatrist testifying loughner suffers from schizophrenia, but he is competent. in exchange for his plea loughner is avoiding death penalty, but will spend the rest of his life behind bars. a economwe economicheck on m cnbc world headquarters. >> let's look at the markets. futures are a little lower at it this point. the markets are at three-month highs and s&p 500 is back above 1400 and the nasdaq above 3,000.

that's the first time in four months. the dow is 110 points away from closing at a four and a half year here. they're concerned it will survive crisis and other potential pit falls. european markets are slightly lower today. we get data out this morning here in the united states on productivity and earnings from macy's, a big retailer. the dow rises 51 points in yesterday's trade to close, and the nasdaq closed out by 25 to close at 3,015. one big company we're watching is disney today. it may be the happiest place on earth today. the company reported record quarterly profits up 31% thanks to the box office success of the avengers which has made $1 the.4 billion wordwide. the results were boosted by the theme parks and cable networks. the ceo tells cnbc has been increasing prices at its parks and resorts, and they're still

oatmeal. huge fan. they're going healthy, and we like that. this morning we'll show you where the temperatures starting. we're in the upper 50s and close to 60 degrees this morning. san francisco is at 56 degrees. san francisco will get one of your prayer treats today. you don't often see temperatures exceed 70 degrees. today we're going to see just that. in fact, i'm forecasting 75 degrees in the city of san francisco and the heat has just begun. we have several days of hot weather. it's 4:49 now. we talk about that as we head throughout the morning hours but high pressure is strong taking the jet stream is way to the north. we see that offshore flow set up with a little more of that monsoonal moisture. hot and hazy by tomorrow, and temperatures are a little uncomfortable inland. i want to point this out. if you work outside, try to park in the sthad and drink lots of water and breathable clothing. 75 degrees in san francisco today, 87 in redwood city down

the peninsula it's going to heat up. 90 degrees at los gatos and 89 it in san jose. we have a lot to talk about this morning. we're going to look at some of the best beaches and talk about what the giants are going to be playing in when they come back to town. a lot is happening in the weather department. look at the triple-digits on friday, saturday, sun. no heat relief. in na ridge does not weaken we could talk about the upper 90s and triple-digits monday and tuesday. right now it looks like we will start to see a little cooldown. back to you, guys. >> thank you very much. it's now 4:50. capital corridor commuters will see some changes p in next week's schedule. starting next monday there's two fewer weekday trains between oakland and sacramento. one is an early morning train that carries about 25 people per day. the second one is an evening train, which will be merged with another train. a new bus route be added to

enchts let's take a live look at the olympic caldron in london. millions of spectators have paid close attention to the summer games. how can you not? that includes the royal family. they have been spotted at several events and, of course, the queen's cameo in the opening ceremony was a big hit. the british ambassador says it's all by design. >> i think what the royal family has done modernized itself.

look at live picture before the break. of course, it's pointed towards the central divide. it's a darker roadway. there's no lights along the edge of the bridge. there's a little going on. just a mention of that. traffic flow is okay. look at athe foster city side. the high rise is well lit, so after the flat section it looks like the lights are on. if you come over from the peninsula you're met with a darker roadway off of that side into the flat section. the bay bridge, we had a report of five vehicles over on the shoulder of the roadway. no accidents reported. sounds like they have just moved from the toll plaza. there were no delays but i'll track that for a few minutes. back to you. >> thanks so much, mike. still ahead on "today in the bay," bay area athletes powering their teams toward the olympic gold medal. >> a heated response from residents following a massive fire.

team usa guaranteed a gold medal in the all-american final. doesn't get much better than that. >> reporter: it's an incredible stair. regarding misty may-treanor and kerri walsh, they've never lost an olympic match. it's an all-american final in london. last night, did you stee this? it was not easy. they am lost their first match of their career. kerri walsh and misty may-treanor after trailing early in the match come back and beat their opponents, the chinese team in straight sets, 22-20, 22-20. it's the 20th straight olympic victory and it sets up the final tonight. just getting out of last night was difficult. here's watch. >> i feel really proud and humbled. i just said we eeked it out because we had faith and never stopped believing. we stuck together
